Holy cow, I now recall that I too have the Detective Manual! Hardcover book with a brown cover, like the other Hardy Boys books -- but thicker. I've got to dig it up one of these days...

A thought on alt-IDs and imaginary characters from the other Big Red "S": My elves tell me that the Supreme Court has agreed to take up the issue of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance recited in our public schools. As an imaginary being, I feel uniquely qualified to comment. First, let me say that I have the greatest respect for all other imaginary beings. We are all dependent upon the faith of our followers for our very existence. But when it comes to children, don't forget who has the list and who is checking it twice. If you want to remind the little dears to be nice instead of naughty (which is the whole point of religion, is it not?), the Pledge should read: “one nation, under Santa Claus, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” Thank you! Wow! Three Investigators and Danny Dunn! I remember checking out stacks of Three Investigators books from the library to read in the car for our trips up north one summer. And I recently loaned my Danny Dunn books to a colleague at work trying to find something else for her kids when they finished Harry Potter, but they didn't bite. Fools!!
And I also remember being very disappointed one Christmas when I had asked for the Detective Manual and got some lame, paperback, updated version that wasn't nearly as cool.

Fools!! You said it! "Danny Dunn and the Smallifying Machine" was my favorite of the lot. It probably set the groundwork for a lot of stories that came later (like "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"), and was also as scientifically accurate as it was fun. I had no idea that the surface tension of water could be such a problem when you're an inch tall...

Actually, I think this quote from the previous week fits this topic better: REMINDER Somewhere in the world is your exact double who has stolen your identity. Truth and Justice shall Prevail! (Take that Abin)

I've always questioned the sanity of people who create Alternate IDs. They always seem a little... unstable.

Truth and Justice shall Prevail! (Take that Abin) [/b]That reminds me of this They Might Be Giants song, My Evil Twin: My evil twin, bad weather friend He always wants to start when I want to begin* It scares me so, like I scare myself With that book of Nostradamus up upon my shelf
Playing hangman 'til the morning light Doing donuts on the neighbors lawn Then sleep all through the day, get up and start again I can hear some sirens somewhere but I don't know why
My evil twin runs home again Search lights look for an alibi, but I'll be home by then
Here he comes again, my evil twin My friends have seen him hiding underneath my skin
Who cut the arm off the voodoo doll That resembles a Republican president from long ago I'd hate to see you leave 'Cause I have grown so grateful for the Blame you save me from
My twin My twin My twin
(My twin) I know he looks like me (My twin) Hates work like me and walks like me (My twin) He's even got a twin like me
My evil twin, bad weather friend I know some day I'll meet him But I don't know where or when

I'm only missing two of the Danny Dunn books. Have the rest in the paperback format that I read a s a kid.
Hopefully Hannah (or the eventual other child - not yet folks) will like them.

Someone can list all the revealed alt ID's if you'd like, but I'm forced to remain silent, since this knowledge is classified security information...

Are we certain Tarik the Mute and Tarik the Mute's Android are the same person?

I'm pretty sure we're certain that they weren't. I'm positive that I know who Tarik the Mute's Android originally was. But something that must always be taken into account is that an alt ID can be passed on (with the password) to another poster. This is what I believe happened to Tarik the Mute's Android.
I think that now, they might be the same person though.

Mekt, the mere thought of you being an alt ID has brought me to tears. Why, once I was called 'an alt ID of Mekt Ranzz' by some simpleton and took it with such delight that it was obvious that I was feeling elated!
