I thought I would turn this around now. My biggest turn off is simply rude people. If you act like you are to good to talk to me then I feel your not worth any effort on my part!!!!

Rudeness is definitely a big turn off.
Pretentiousness and arrogance are others.

And if a date says "Comic books are stupid!" and giggles -- well then, FORGET IT! tongue

Serious icky qualities are judgmental, rudeness, trash talkers. Smoking is a DEFINITE turn-off as is any kind of drug use. Guys who aren't interested in affection, such as kissing, holding hands, etc.

Guys who are more interested in "acting" straight then just being themselves. But also VERY effeminate guys. Especially when they constantly call other guys by female pronouns. Such as "look at her" or "ooh, isn't she tacky" when they are talking about a guy. Its cool to nelly out on occasion, we all do, but not constantly.

I had a bunch of turn-ons so it only makes sense that I have a few turn-offs.

Hmmmm...

A bore is a total turnoff to me, even if he was as hot as Matt Damon or Rokk Steady. Of course, if a bore is THAT hot, I'm willing to tolerate it longer... but eventually, I'll be all "Do something STUPID, you!!!"

Actually, I think some guys who smoke are TOTALLY hot... but I hate pipes and cigars. I wasn't above a little drug-use in my younger days (sheepish grin!) but I do think we reach an age that is very silly for any kind of continued drug-use.

But my biggest turnoff is joyless whiners.

Which is why I am single I guess. There's LOTS of joyless, whiney 35 year-olds getting high EVERY day around here... and I find that boring!

Cryptic single-word postings! {grins, ducks, runs}

No, seriously ...
~ Not keeping up in conversational tempo. I can't penetrate or interpret long silences.
~ Being rude, period, but especially if it's with wait-staff and others trying to do their jobs.
~ Dissing someone's extensive vocabulary. Especially mine.
~ Seeing someone showing off erudition for the helluvit and not calling them on it. Including with me.
~ Not being willing to accept at least a good-night pluck on the cheek. This ain't 1960.

THANK you, Grey! I absolutely cannot tolerate someone being hateful to a waiter/waitress.

I had to sling hash during college.
It's VERY obvious when you're with someone who has never had to wait tables for a living...

I have only limited experience in dealing with people in the entertainment industry in L.A., but based on that limited experience, the biggest turn-offs for me are narcissistic self-involvement, insincerity in praising others' work and shameless brown-nosing to those might be able to help your career. Yuck.

Why are you laughing at me? It's unkind, as well as puzzling!

People who go out of their way to take what you say the wrong way.

The overly-easily offended.

People who are never wrong in their own minds and can't laugh a good Bwaa-ha-ha at themselves.

Oh, and the Dutch, of course.

rickshaw1,

you are talking about me, aren't you? and you mean that I am always wrong when you said "the wrong way", right? wink

Sorry, I couldn't resist the above response.

as for my turn-offs: arrogant people is number one.

And speaking of wait staff. I have to say, I've never waited, but I have worked as a bank teller. And since then, I have all the patience in the world when I see a service worker when it is busy but he/she is working. Likewise, I do a slow boil if I am kept waiting for even a few seconds if the service person is just goofing off. If you are just talking about last night's date and I come to your open register, you need to stop talking and wait on me. If you are talking business, you need to at least say "I'll be right with you"

Snob, arrogant, ignorant, overconfident...

I finally felt good when I beat that egomanical guy at the Heroclix tournament - the biggest upset of them all...everybody was very happy because he has been hassling everyone saying that he was going to be "the undefeated champion ever". He even refused to shake my hand...so alas poor sportsmanship. I lost many games more than winning..let's say my record is 10-100, at best. Everybody has been rooting for me to win...that felt good. smile Let's hope that I will be able to keep it going.

Way to go superboymddjr! I just hate those jerks at tournaments. We get them at the two locations here that old the HeroClix games and they just ruin it for everyone else. Their the same kind of people who think playing a team of Fire Lords is imaginative. My record is probably about the same as yours and I've all but given up going to the tourneys here because of the pricks. Just not worth the hassle.

Smokers breath. I'm not sure if it's a turn off, but if I'm retching in front of someone it's pretty much giving that signal.

Small mindedness. Inability to see things from someone else's perspective.

People who drone on. I could go on and on about the people I met over the years who just can't stop talking about some trivial thing that seems so important to them, but it's really just not something I could spend an evening having to fake interest over. The first person I met who was like this...

The usual collection of hypocrites, fibbers, self absorbed, hater folk that everyone doesn't like.

People who don't know how to type a short post. They're the absolute pits, and I wouldn't share an internet with them. smile

Joyless whiners are the worst.

Also can't stand know-it-alls and people who can't stop giving advice.

People who can't handle when you're not in the attention-giving mood.

But of course the worst of all are people who just aren't kind.

The overly-easily offended.

rickshaw1,

you are talking about me, aren't you? and you mean that I am always wrong when you said "the wrong way", right?

Same turn offs as 15 years ago. 15 years? Really?

That includes egomaniacal, misogynistic, homophobic, bully-boy male rock singers who deliberately contrive to sound like Mickey Mouse with constipation, only because they think they'll be perceived as "hip" (a word which, by now, has become a synonym for "cool.")

Okay, now, ya'll be cool about this. I understand that it's my personal thing. I don't judge people by them, it's just a personal thing for me, I wouldn't get them for myself personally.

Tattoos.

I know that they are big in culture right now. I don't hold anything against folks that have them. I've more than one or two friends and family that have them. They just aren't for me personally.

I think the coolest thing about them is people that use them for personal self confidence to help hide things like scars, etc. they just aren't my thing.

I'm not really a fan either. Small ones are okay, but the more prominent, the more of a turn-off.

Same here. My daughter also got one on her ankle for some bizarre reason.

I mean, I understand the interest in doing something like this to mark a momentous occasion or something, but the problem is that most of the time they look awful as people age. But that's just IMO.

Rich people that think money buys them a pass from reality. Poor people that think being poor makes them somehow better just by being.
