So, since we're talking about bears and the such, I never asked, but what's the Bear community like in your area?

The area I live in...NW Indiana, doesnt have much of a bears community at all. I am however just 45 mins from downtown Chicago which has a huge bear community. ;-) And I'm 2 1/2 hrs from Indianapolis which has a pretty big bear community.

I really have to go to Chicago sometime... My partner has a few friends there, and he's a member of the Helllfire Club... Think I'll have to acocmpany him sometime

Edinburgh has a small Bear community, but a very friendly one, with a monthly pub night meeting and a group called Bearscots organizing a few activities, including a complete bear weekend in October.

There are two "bear friendly" bars, the Claremont and the Regent (even though the that one if also full of twinks and fag hags at times).

so whats the scene like in the states in reguards to the lesbians when I liked in the UK the Gays and Lesbian were pretty much chucked in together where as in sydney woman basically cany get into a gay club on a friday or saturday night (Apparently thescene was ruined by the fag hags and hens nights)

I want to say that I enjoy reading the posts and am glad to see other gay and gay-friendly Legionnaires. Although I do not consider myself into any particular scene, I may be described as an otter, but no facial hair. I'll try to get you a pic so I can see if my description is valid.

Bear community in my area? AFAIK, there isn't one, but I hardly keep up with the "gay stuff" around me. When searching online, the closest I get are to sightings of animals rather than hairy guys. Of course, I do have a local guy magazine devoted to the goings-on in the Hudson Valley, but I haven't really flipped through it. My mother did, though, so maybe she knows.
