This weekend, I'm trying the Ardberg 10 year old single malt. Again it's from Islay. At first sip, it promises lots of peaty smoke. But it ends there. This is a weird scotch. Almost no sweetness at all. The hints of sherry that many scotch have are nowhere to be found. What is striking is the profound taste of alcohol. This actually reminds me of Grappa. The color is pale straw - that's off-putting enough. I'm sure it has it's adherents, but I'm not going to be one of them.
