I've never taken to "amalgam" type super-criminals. It's just me.

Several suggestions here seem similar to "Robotica," which as I recall didn't really go over all that well. Am I misreading or are there some subtle differences I'm missing?

The original Computo was campy but killed. Those claws still give me the creeps on rereads and is probably why I get the creeps anytime the "badguy" hasn't yet been identified but there's hints that it could be the resurgance of Computo. By now those, that type storyline might be overplayed.
A story where Computo announces up front, "it's me, deal with it," might be interesting. And I still thing Computo needs a love life. A blender or maybe even better, a Kirby. Sleek but curvy. Trustworthy yet timeless with a power beater brush for those masochistic moods and occasional tarnish removal.

Computo is a classic example of a Legion villain who was great on their first outing, but hasn't been nearly as interesting on subsequent apperances.

I guess what I'm hoping for is something other than trying to recreate the whole "here's my huge army of robots... fight them" scenario.

"the huge army" stuff just turns me off as well. Be it the dark circle, robotica, and that other DnA religious type of massive group.

This is what I meant by a face. Just create one really interesting/powerful character that fits the bill.

Tie Computo to the Brainiac legacy somehow? Computo as a robot serial killer sounds like fun also. smile

I just looked back at the original story, and his motivation is pretty fuzzy there.

Basically Brainy is feeding him information, and he goes crazy when he runs out of stuff to learn. Then he builds an army of robots to kidnap scientists to learn more stuff from them and eliminate humans because they are inefficient and emotional (I presume he means inefficient in the acquisition of knowledge?)

There's some great ideas here and, no doubt, many of them would make for enjoyable, thoughtful reading.

But part of me just wants to see wacky skyscraper tall typing machines, silly arms a-waving, rolling down the street with Legionnaires trapped in bubbles on their heads.

Mystery Lad, there is one person that can deliver that and his name is Grant Morrison. This is the only guy I know that can take the silliest silver age ideas and make them work just like they did back in the day or better.

I hope we get a Legion appearance in All Star Superman. I really do.

Okay, how does this not scream Cyborg Supergirl????

Anyway, along the lines of Computo, I would have him be create4d by the UP and Science Police as another working program to fix all the stuff that Lemnos F***ed up. Problem is, the young system actually defects, and creates a body for himself (I was thinking along the lines of Gear from the previous Legion) and actually joins the Legion, quite possibly as just a good guy. Or not. It's pretty much up in the air from there.

Hee-hee! Don't forget that programming virus thingie that Lyle introduced to the SP systems-- the Computo 'baby' could have a fixation on Lyle. The l'il darling would thing Invisible Kid was it's 'mommy'!

I like this idea. Computo would use flawed reasoning to do something like: somehow provoking Booster Gold who then provokes the Dominators to declare war against everybody meanwhile Computo plants the whole Phantom Zone idea in Cos' head all as a means to eliminating-the-Dominators-as-a-'benefit to mankind'. Computo would do the morally wrong but logically right things, and it would hide its actions because 'Computo logic' would want humans to take the 'credit' for what are really Computo's actions. Am I making any sense to anyone because I don't think that I understand what I'm talking about.

I like this idea. Computo would use flawed reasoning ... [/b]
Another take on that might be Computo using "correct" reasoning that leads to disaster.

Teaching logic, one of the toughest concepts for me to get across is that "logic" is not the study of "common sense."

I was hoping that Computo would somehow be involved in the Robot uprising we got a glimpse of before the Dominator attack.

I thought the Computo attack in JLA/JSA crossover was cool looking and well done (even if only an illusion)

I also like the idea of Triplicate Girl being part of Computo - absorbed, not destroyed by Computo. Computo could wreck some serious havoc in the 31st century if written well.

Triplicate Girl one body absorbed by Computo is interesting. If she ever reunites with Lournu is the third body going to be part "techno-organic"? Well Lournu gain some cyborg powers? I like the idea. Ofcourse the female Ultron/Janet Pym Ultron thing currently going on reminds me of that a bit. Atleast the visual.

(I always thought Lournu and Janet looked alike?!)

Computo redesigned by Johnathan Ives? (Apple designer)
He/she/it'd be the best damn looking computer-based character ever!

(Brainy could control Computo's functions by a touch-screen interface... heehee)

Computo should renovate the original Brainiac spaceship design. nicely creeeepy.
i was also looking forward to the DnA version where Computo merged with that bald Coluan woman. too bad that'll never be followed up on.

Can't we have all of it in one Computo?

Mantis Morlo, mad scientist extraordinaire, merges Computo with a brain globe of Rambat and the living planet of Mogo II, creating an evil intelligent planet of the 14th level [named: Morlo's Combatgo]

Quicksand, Quake Kid and Red Tornado also guest star.

I am so in love with this idea it's not even funny!

The idea that Computo's various plots are all designed to benefit humanity in the long run would make him a really interesting antagonist.

I would have Brainy assume at first that he's just all nutty and intent on destroying organics, but eventually come to the realisation that he goes about it in a really inefficient way so there must be some other underlying motivation...it would be really interesting seeing how the Legion deal with a threat which actually has nothing but humanity's interests at heart, it's just that Computo thinks in terms of future generations rather than individual lives here and now...

COMPUTO OF THREE WORLDS

The 30th-century Computo of Earth-Zero and the 21st-century Computo of Earth-247 team up to create the Computo of Earth-Prime, who gains control of Superboy-Prime in a plot to remake the entire Multi-verse in his image.

Ultimately failing, but becoming the ancestor of three-boot Brainiac 5.

Sounds interesting, however, there are three characters I never want to see again in a Legion story:
1) Lori Mourning
2) Superboy-Prime
3) Dr. Mayavale

I'm sure the Superman writers have already used this idea, but conquering the world through people's need for cell phones.
