Sorry but GRL is disqualified. Not opposed to lesbian running but we don't allow giant robots. No mechanically assisted powers allowed.

Anti-Lad, I hear the proprietors of SHAKES are lesbi-phobic.
Let's storm the place and have a hot and heavy make-out session just to show them that we're not ashamed to show our love, hairy pits and all!

I guess if my nominations for GRL don't count, I'll throw all 4 of them to Fat Cramer. She's a pretty li'l kitty, that one.

People, please try to only nominate using your primary ID. Alternate IDs really shouldn't be used for making nominations.

Sorry about that, Far. I did get confused with the whole Alt ID thing and the "Scott and Gary" noms and declines.
I fixed my last totals.

<Hmmm! If this keeps up I may not get to use my nominations before the preliminaries are over!>
I would like to give one of my nominations to STU. I think his term as Legion World Leader would be very interesting and quite a bit of fun.
I'll have to think a little bit more before committing the other one to a second nominee.

Thanks, Vee, and thanks to Icey, Yellow Kid, Matthew, Semi, and Faraway. I'm honored at having received your nominations -- and your faith that I would make a good leader for LW.
I still have both of my nominations to give.
To me, the LW leader should be someone whose fairness, honesty, and good humor are evident in everything they do... who genuinely loves these boards and who has shown a commitment and a dedication to them, not just in terms of time and energy, but in all the little things they do on a daily basis to make LW a brighter place for everyone.
But that description would aptly fit all of the people who have been nominated so far, and so many others who haven't been nominated yet.
I wish I could nominate more than two people. Since I can't, I'll have to think this over a little bit longer...

Been "missing" for way to long and only made it back today thanks to my roomie, Condo. Don't think I'd forgive myself if I missed this vote.
I nominate Varalent for Leader. He's unquestionably one of the most caring, selfless people around.

My first nomination goes to someone who exemplifies these qualities -- who not only devotes a great deal of time to making LW fun, but (equally important) would lead with a strong sense of honor and fairness in everything he does. I nominate Varalent.

With all due respect to Stu -- and with knowing that this election is mostly an occasion for genial silliness -- this goal ends up putting far too much freight onto what was said to be a ceremonial ritual, as I had originally feared.
And it turns the process into a public assessment of individual character. Witnessing this has always made me wary and uncomfortable.
What I've come to question is just how well all, or any, of these matters of character can be measured remotely and impersonally. Most of us don't even know the others' real-life names, let alone contexts and foibles. We are electronic shadows on the walls of the proverbial cave.
And such a high set of standards, judging upon fragmented evidence, is then abandoned. Because however much one admires such a paragon -- if he or she can be found -- that choice is then submitted to a voting process where one's individual reasoning doesn't matter.
I've come to be uncomfortable with using public net.behavior as a proxy for judging character. To react to how others behave is enough of a task, quite beyond using such actions as a divining rod for deeper personal waters.
(It may have been more appropriate to not voice such thoughts here, but then I'd probably have been blasted for burdening everyone's screens by starting a new thread about the subject *sigh*)
