But the deaf or hearing impaired would have developed some way to communicate with you, if it were necessary.

Tech is unreliable in the Fifth Dimension, though.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that Imra carries a pocket computer for emergencies. Wouldn't be much good for atracting attention, though.

As for Cham's "Don't judge me!", holding shape may be something Durlans have to learn when they're children. Uncontroled shape shifting as an adult might be the equivlent of an adult peeing their pants. How mortifying would that be?

Nura, you mean? I'd love a Nura/Dreaming connection-- or at least a meeting. Or did you mean that *you* were dreaming?

A Lyle/Morhpeus link? Hmmmm. That could work, actually. If invisibility leads to dimensional travel.

Nura dreaming - or in some very deep precog state that people are mistaking for death. I hadn't really considered an actual link between Lyle and Morpheus due to the invisibility but that's fascinating - when he's invisible, does he see differently, different part of the light spectrum or other dimensions entirely? Not unlike the Adventure era IK who saw the ghost dimension.

Moreover, it looks like her telepathy doesn't work over long-range communications devices, for example, remote monitors or flight rings.

Now that her mind is a more central aspect of her persona than ever before, her physicality becomes a less important defining aspect.
Many interesting points you raise about the "new" Imra. I was figuring she would just learn to speak out loud at some point - but she will be a much more complex and challenging character if she has to remain mute.

She was able to telepath the conversation with her mother to the other Legionnaires, but they were in the same city, so there certainly is a question of a physical distance limits to her powers. I hadn't picked up that it was Garth who had to speak for her on the communications device - it makes perfect sense and does present quite a stumbling block to her becoming leader or going on solo missions.

We don't really know what 3boot Imra's range is yet, except that she has one. In issue #5, Phren (iirc) said something like "We're too far inside her range". She was able to sense Brin's feral presence on Rimworld 19, but couldn't actually identify him over what seemed like a relatively short distance (flightwise). I can think of a few times in previous continuities when she sensed things happening off-world (e.g., Mentalla's death) but I can't recall clearly if she was ever able to communicate to someone on another planet (certainly not from Nardo's Super-Stalag), or even in another country or city. Saturn Girl experts, please chime in.

On a related note, we haven't yet seen telepathic plugs, which might help extend her range somewhat. Perhaps it's part of the new flight rings, but Light Lass didn't mention it in the last letter column when she listed their capabilities.

interesting thought. just how much focus must Cham maintain not to switch all the time? given the way the mind wonders during day, I am surprised he doesn't just morph at random all the time. maybe that will be explored later.

I don't think it is a formal subspace, at least if Crisis Times Five is considered still in continuity. They talked about "your little flatland" as if the main DCU was merely a 3-D slice, or a piece of a slice, through their world--rather than being a projection of the entire 5-D universe as a subspace would be. Given that, there would be an infinite number of 3-D universes, parallel or at an angle to one another.

Also, I believe the numbering recognizes time as the 4th dimension--at least it did in CT5--so that puts an extra constraint on the universes you can choose if you want them to experience time as we do.

(It'd be cool if it was a formal subspace, though, since that would mean Mxy and his people were somehow "inside" us, moving within spaces we simply encompass without noticing.)

It could also be that, just as Cham thought he was doing the right thing socially by making peace in the guise of Ultra Boy, so morphing into the wrong shape could be a deadly insult or an appalling breach of etiquette. Maybe he's super-paranoid about that kind of thing after mimicking Jo went over so badly.

I certainly wouldn't want to see Golden-Age Mxy pop up in a Legion story either, but I'm hoping this is more along the lines of Crisis Times Five, where the inhabitants aren't so much magical imps as outright gods with a very bizarre brand of logic. Not that Skelter looks to be operating on the power level of Mxy or the Thunderbolt...perhaps Zrfff has the same role in the 5-D universe that Earth does in the 3-D one, and happens to have an overabundance of superbeings? Whereas the beings that live somewhere like Ttrxl are far more "normal" by comparison...
