I've been through a few minor quakes here (nothing anywhere close to what Semi's been through, thank God) and I can only say it's an odd and disconcerting feeling to have the very ground under your feet move, even if it's only a little. I couldn't imagine going through something like the 1989 Bay Area quake.

Neither could I.

Cincinnati, my old home, actually gets the occasional tremor. Not a big deal on the Richter scale, but a little disconcerting since one wouldn't expect it to happen there.

Oddly, I've always been told that my area exists on a fault line (I don't know how precise "my area" refers to), but there's never been a tremor in my lifetime.

Earthquakes have never really freaked me out. They're over so quickly that there isn't time to be afraid.
