Good news, everyone! ( ) As much as I'd like to describe the scene as Futuramaific, apparently anachronism can be used to describe things of the present inappropriately injected on the future as well as into history. So the scene of the guy and the girl making out in the back of the hovercar struck me as painfully anachronistic. I'm not sure why that and nothing else, it was just... gah.

Here, I think there's a reason. I'll talk about it in the Previews Thread and get out of the discussion of the Special.

Hi- At first I also thought it was Lyle's power that made him "disappear" from the genetracking. But on the first page of art from the Waid interview a SP says the flight rings take the Legionnaires "off the public service" and they can't be tracked.

I loved the Special. It was epic, funny, moving, everything I look for in quality entertainment. The art was great, the writing was great. It worked for me. I felt like Titans #16 was a little frantic but this made up for it, BIG TIME. And it's good to know that our old friends are not dead. And the possibility of Shikari being used is great too, because she is a very dynamic character. Except for Andromeda being there and the slight color goof on the front that makes Lyle look like Jan, I give it my seal of approval. Good job, guys!

Can't argue about GATES deserving better. Here's hoping my favorite teleporting bug gets re-imagined STAT.
As for the SPECIAL, it was alright. It's purpose was to end current LEGION continuity, which it did...
But, um... where IS Shikari now? Can't believe more people aren't wondering. Is she in the re-imagined universe? Will she be a link between V 2.0 and V 3.0? That might be kind-of neat.
As for Andromeda, I *loved* seeing her in her former glory, with Jo and Mon!
The real "meat" here in the 7-page PREVIEW...

Well...the cover was good.
The trouble I had with it was that it was too biased towards the teen titans. The last Titan/legion crossover had the same problem.
I know there's less of them to keep track of but really, their entire ten year existence wasn't about to be retconned out of DC continuity was it.

I finish to read the Titans Legion Special. For me, is not a good finale for The current Legion. If the Zero Hour was Horrible...this is simply silly. 500 Fatal Five? They have the enough power to destroy the whole Legion, the Titans, JSA and JLA. Maybe a Time Trapper plot could been better. With the events in Legion 105 and the infinite realities. Too much things in the Limbo. Suddenly Andromeda is in the team..no more the super-num. Jo and Tinya don't think in Cub in the crytical situation. What kind of fathers are? Sensor never meet her snake family with the new form. The 3º Tinya's body plot... never the writers talk about it. Kinetix, the same...never meets her mother & Brother. Wildfire, never has a conflict with the two souls in his energy form? And many more... I never like The Sensor-Snake,Monstress or Thunder. But the current team deserving a better finale. And I know the stupid things which the differents writers made in the fan's illusions. The Gim's death. Change Sun Boy for Inferno (Sandy) The Snake... Nura... Too much time like a silly blonde. The bad origin of Wilfire. The Jam/Garth combo, the more painful thing in all The Legion history.
I have, good hopes for the new team...
Good Bye : Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Live Wire, Triad, Apparition, Chameleon, XS, Invisible Kid, Ultra Boy, Brainiac 5, Andromeda, Kinetix, Spark, Violet, Gates, Star Boy, Umbra, Sensor, Mon'el, Dreamer, Gear, Wilfire, Karate Kid, Kid Quantum II,Ferro.
And Chuck, Tenzil, Dyrk, Drura, Sussa, Bertha, Lydda
They deserved a big & glorious end.
From UK with glamour.

Despite my incessant bitching on other threads I ...kind of liked some of this!
It was a HUGE relief that the Legion are just lost in the time stream. Phew! Like someone else just said it reminded me of Last Days of the JSA - that was supposed to be their last EVER appearance in the DCU too. At least this way we can get em back when Waid leaves the series!
Bits I liked:
Caress and Flare being in the huge group Fatal 500 shot. Did I miss a Mentalla cameo too? Hope so!
The Legion not actually being killed/wiped off the face of the DCU
Barry's Phantom Girl redesign. She was my favourite Legionnaire for years and it's great she's got her flares back!
Bits I didn't like:
All the non humanoid Legionnaires being written out of the fight scene because they're "injured" (so seeya then Gates, Sensor and Kinetix)
Andromeda popping up from nowhere
The preview (sorry!)
It's really brilliant that Shikari *might* feature in the new series though. I really really hope she does (though kind of doubt it, going by Waid's interviews) I really hope this "linking" device isn't just completely forgotten about. Shikari deserves better than Inferno!
But over all I'm still not keen on the new direction. The costumes (except Tinya and Ayla's!) look a bit goofy too, especially Dirk's.
Over all - this "farewell" wasn't as bad as I was dreading it was going to be...

I picked this and the Teen Titans crossover up today.
I found it decidedly underwhelming. Then again, there been only a few stories in this entire era of the Legion that I haven't been underwhelmed by, so that probably makes it an appropriate sendoff.
For now, at least. I for one have no doubt that will be seeing the Legion that vanished into the timestream once again.
Glaringly bad bits:
--The continued wussification of the Fatal Five. Each member should be enough to give the Legion a tussle alone. Now they need to multiply their numbers 100fold?
--The Persuader cutting realities so precisely that it just let's the Fatal Five, who are standing there waiting, through.
--The temporal loop. Besides being intrinsically dumb, didn't Brainy already say that the Persuader had followed Superboy back? So he's already traveled back to fight the Titans, so that shouldn't be the destination this time.
--The individual characters really didn't get much in the way of sendoffs.

I guess big ol' sendoffs weren't necessary, as we're so likely to see this Legion again.

I'm going to wait to see how things go before I say goodbye to V4.
Some of you say that they're gone for good from what Waid said, but he isn't in charge and I think DC had him and Kitson make some slight changes to create a fail safe, because the chances of this series succeeding as Waid promised isn't absolute, becasue he's been making too many promises and these needless reboot will probably hurt DC in the future.

Okay,I reread this for any hints as to why my reaction was so different from so many others.
First, I suppose I should consider that I was ready to see the Post-booters go. (And I still felt bad seeing them drift off, go figure.)
Then there's the fact that it's a long fight scene. I've had similar complaints for other issues but somehow this one felt different. Maybe it's because there was enough quiet time in between the action or because there were plenty of interactions during the fighting.
The other thing that would potentially bother has also been mentioned--it's the various versions of the Fatal Five working in concert. This isn't something I'd believe without some explanation but perhaps I was able to let it go because they at least acknowledged that Persuader's axe had to be powered up and if they did that off-panel they may as well have done inter-Fatal Five coordinating off panel too.
What's not such a big deal for me is that the Fatal Five were beaten. I'll admit I did ponder it, but the Legion has always beaten them in the past (okay, pre-boot validus was pretty-much unbeatable, but not necessarily anyone else) and multiplying ineffectual-ness could well be like multiplying any number by 1.
I will say that the events while they were in the time stream seemed a bit sloppy, but I didn't mind it so much.
Anyway, there's some un-invested counterpoints to some comments in case anyone's interested.

I was having fun, just reading along with all the action, but I did think that a Fatal Five Hundred should have been a lot more of a problem for the Legion. Then, I decided that the way the Legion *should* have been able to defeat them was that the various members of the Five should have been bickering and sparring amongst themselves. There's no OTHER Empress! Eye! Blast her! The Validuses should have irritated each other and started mindlessly fighting. The Persuaders probably would have wanted to see who's Axe is the mightiest. The Manos would probably be more in sync with each other, realizing that the more hands the more power. Here's the kicker... I believe that the Tharok's would want to link up and create an Ultimate Tharok. Think of what a powerful machine 100 of his computer selves would be! Then, Lyle and Gear could do something cool like give it a virus! Heh! I like my ideas!!! Meanwhile, Brainy and Bart and Jenni would be working on their timestream thing and the rest would be scrapping with the member of the Five who aren't handling themselves.
The art was great.

here are my thoughts on the SPECIAL !!
i think the story should have played out over at least 3 issues [ kinda like "End of An Era" ]
Part 1: "The Legion" Part 2: "Teen Titans" Part 3: "Special"
it seemed a little to rushed to "close" off the last 10 years of the REBOOT, in just one comic !!!
especially when "DREAM CRIME", "FOUNDATIONS" took over 5 issues, and GAIL's 4 parter, seemed to drag on little !!! IMO
if this "truly" the last we see of the REBOOT, they deserved MORE .....
and even though, i like the sound of the new series and a return to my favourite names, etc !!!
i did feel SAD to see them all "drift" off into the white !!!
nore GATES, XS, ZOE etc !!!
i thought we may have got a little more info on how the new version comes into play [ before it went into the 7 page preview ??? ]
i wonder when we will find out "what happened" to get to the this place ???
i did still enjoy the issue, though !!! i loved the funny comments, Gar talking about the "L" shaped HQ, Thom asking him the shape of their building !!! Raven saying Brainy was an ass etc !!!
the scenes with Conner were good IMO, it gave him a more noble edge !!!
and the art was amazing !!! the whole cast looked great !!! JO looked cool in that close up [ i'm gonna miss his long hair ..... ]
and then onto the 7 page preview, it was a nice set up, liked the interaction with Lyle and his parents, also what we saw of the city was cool, i liked the billboards and tech !!!
and then finally the TEAM !!! wow ....
PHANTOM GIRL, in almost her classic costume [ great homage by Barry !!! ]
and it was great seeing NURA and JECKIE again [ in a return to their Preboot roots !!! ]
i'm really looking forward to the new series, but i do want to know how we got here !!! i hope they do explain it !!!???
Matthew.

I'm not a HUGE fan of the 1994 pre-boot continuity but i think they wasted an opportunity by not using the sentimental connection many feel to this continuity it would have made it so much more a LEGION/Titans special (rather than the Titans-dominated story we got) if they had maybe featured the characters who aren't popping back anytime soon (and the creative team have -this time- planned far enough in advance to have a rough sense of the cast for the first couple years). Imagine a page of terraform Zoe, the snake Jeckie, Gates, Jarth, and any others (Kid Quantum? XS? Gear? Babbage? Comet Queen?) on a side mission, and then left behind in their continuity. Dramatic, a bit obvious, but gives some closure (and a better sense of the process - hypertime? - involved). why waste the opportunity?

After being spoiled to death, I finally bought the crossover. I loved it of course, but it was bittersweet for me as moment after cool moment (Garth transmutes Vi's costume, XS getting some action, Andromeda appearing) reminded me this was all about to end.
Garth's comment about being Element Lad struck me as more weird than his costume switch or the fact he only transmuted.
I was kind of upset to see that Dreamer and Kinetix were nowhere in the issue, save for a Zoe mention. It looked to me like Andromeda flew into the battle when Lar & Jo were outside, but I noticed she wasn't present in the big end in the time stream. Oddly enough, Chuck was there though. I suppose I'm grasping at the hope that these few people that were left out of the timestream shots may have survived and can help bring these guys home.
Love that Shikari survived, hopefully into the WnK reality, though it was sad watching her leave the Legionnaires behind. Surely Gates could have teleported a chunk of the team after her. This issue made me incredibly sad to think that it was finally over for the reboot. Just as depressing to think that the man who pretty much started it killed it, especially when showing promise that he knew the characters during this special.
I liked the preview, though Lyle's temper-tantrum did seem below the character's usual caliber. I'm interesting by some of these new terms and concepts such as "grounded for life." There has to be some big threat behind that.

I'm wondering if Johns will forget that he gave all of the Titans flight rings and that they had all been deputized.
I hope not. It'd be cool to see them flying everywear.
