(Placed in a new thread because I haven't been able to get to the comics store for issue 16, having been ill, and wanted to avoid any spoilers.)

In issue 16, does the block of printing information in six-point type, at the bottom of the DC news page facing the inside back cover, read "SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES is published monthly ..."?

If "SUPERGIRL AND THE" isn't present, the renaming is just a temporary stunt for the front cover. If it is present, we can expect this cast change is longer-term and meant to be permanent.

They won't change this printing-and-legalities text unless they absolutely must do so. One reason is that their periodicals-rate mailing permit from the Postal Service has to be amended to reflect any genuine change in the book's name.

Steve, it says "SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES 16, May, 2006. Published monthly by DC Comics, etc. POSTMASTER: Send address changes to SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, etc."

Oh, and it is actually printed on the right side of the page, reading vertically, not along the bottom.

So, does this tell us that the name-change is likely good for a year at least?

It appears so. Again, they won't change the name of the publication on their periodicals-rate mailing permit unless they're serious about sticking with it for a while.
