Point of Order
I don't think points of order are counted against a speaker's allocated time in debate. On many occasions have I made frivolous points of order to waste time so I could run out the clock on debate.
Such as now,
Mister Chair,
I suggest the absence of a quorum. I would ask unanimous consent for an adjournment.

I agree with KP. It sounds like this has been very well-thought out and the hopless fangirls of the worlds are fangirling all over it, believe me. Seriously though, major props to Cru, Eryk, KP, Cobie and everyone else who put this stuff together. It seems like a well-organized game plan and I think that's gotta be half the battle. (Of course, if knowing is the other half then there's no actual battle but that's neither here nor there.)

If it please the Chair, I rise to offer a motion to...eh? What's happenin....
((There is a brilliant, flash of blue light that blinds all those in attendance. When it subsides and everyone's vision returns, a collective gasp arises. Where Vee stood only momens before, nothing remains, save an empty chair that slowly sways back and forth.))

I'm here, my friend. <Cobalt enters> Everyone, if you won't mind, an announcement: There is serious trouble afoot on Legion World, and I believe the main goals continue to be to stop this convention. I implore you all, please continue on. The Security Office has the situation well in hand, and the various Security Officers are investigating, particularly Vee’s whereabouts, which we promise to solve. However, the convention must continue. Now a few things: - First: Eryk, thank you, thank you, thank you, for keeping this thing moving forward. Originally posted by Kid Prime: Originally posted by Eryk Davis Ester: [b] So, we have the following threads to be started by election administrators: 1. I feel that we are all in agreement regarding the campaign addition to the clause, as well as the decision to forego voter registration and stick with the process as is. Third: I ask that we consider the powers of the LMB Leader sometime soon, before we move on to other non-leader related topics. I think we should just get this stuff out of the way now, as it is undoubtedly the most important things we’re doing here. (I, of course, defer to KP and Crujeckie). Some of you may know that I also feel like this means a lot after the past couple of years. Thanks everyone

Did I miss role call again?
Sorry I'm late.
I'd like to add a personal, little, insignificant piece of legislation to something really important in the hopes that it will be passed.
I'd like a proclamation added that everybody has to switch letters around in their Legion World name at least once per year (preferably all on the same day).
For example... Fat Cramer could become Cat Framer... or Cobalt Kid could be Kobalt Cid... or minesurfer could be sinemurfer... or Rickshaw could be SickRawh... or Queen Connie could be Cueen Qonnie... or Kid Prime could be Pid Krime... or Lightning Lad could be Lightning Lad. This could be a boon for alt-id's everywhere.
In lieu of the above happening, I'd be content with renaming one of the California cities... "minesurferburg". It's just a little town... Miss Tessmacher has her own town.
Something Filthy!

Prime is there a document that actually says what the LMB is, aside from the governance stuff being hammered out. Dare I say it, a mission document?
And Connie what happened to Vee? What do your superior feline senses tell you.

I will accept this as a motion to begin debate on the powers of the LMB Leader. I would also like to mention that this topic could intersect other topics, such as the LMB military, for example. Any seconds? (Incidentally, we also need to start thinking about DEFINING the goals and mission of the LMB, as in a preamble of sorts.)

Incidentally, I will also take that statement as a motion to open discussion on the goals and mission of the LMB.
Cobie, I would like it if you would defer your motion to the discussion of the mission of the LMB as a whole, and I promise that we will get to the LMB leader powers right after.

Well it's difficult to define what leadership entails without the goals of what is being led. Hour one of day one of an administration course tells you that.

Offer open to all posters on the Legionnaies board**** Hmm... not much in the way of clues to a mission statement there...

Here's what my textbook collection says bout the proper formulation of the vision document, I've adapted it to this case.
Vision: A figurative 10000 foot view of what the LMB is and what you'd like it to be in a perfect world.
Mission: A platform for evolution over a shorter time maybe over 2-3 leadership terms down the road. Will guide the leader.
Objectives (3): Specific and measureable over an even shorter time period. (This one I think we leave for a potential leader to outline in an election platform)
The first two parts should be 3-5 sentences each max. Should probably be the Preamble of the Constitution.

OK, we need to consider a few things here.
The LMBP has a defined goal, kinda. Check the Yahoo Group, the Outpost, the original posts by Lash, Lardy, Cru, etc. and you'll see it.
All of this is sacrosanct at this point. It must be taken into account. And anyone who hasn't read the entire history of the LMBP, really should check it out. Because the group has meant something from Day 1, when we founded it in March of 2000.
I've never personally defined the 'mission', because I felt others have done so better. I'm hoping Cru can step in here and give a little emphasis of what the LMB might mean. Lardy would be able to do it too--I suddenly wish he was here now.
It means friendship and doing away with internet formalities, and creating a real community of friends online, that have a common goal of loving the Legion. But it means so much more: the Legion has long ago become a small portion of that. It means being a place to come to when you feel like you've got nowhere else to go, to discuss the various things that interest you. And it means you've decided that above all else, its much more important that everyone is having a good time together.
But there is a mission to it too: a kind of pro-active stance on involving others in Legion fandom, in doing any tiny little bit it takes to help increase the profile of the current comic book by bringing in new fans and showing them what a cool concept the Legion is--in all forms. It's not supposed to just sit there and be...it's supposed to actively continue to immerse people in the fun.
But like I said...what do I really know? It all seems vague and such, but it always has been...there's just a sense that people 'got it', which I think most of us have.
All further decisions on an LMB mission statement must include Lash and Cru. I wish Lardy were here too, as well as many others.
