Yes, in our team's analysis Don, we believed that he was concerned about succession at Malevolent Entity Corporation. He brought her in to eventually succeed him because he saw no alternative for internal advancement to fill the role. However she saw the thing as an adventurous tryst and thus the whole thing ended badly several months later...

Madam Chair, could we place delay the session till Tamper Lad is a little more coherent? He should come around quickly. He is an evil genius. <Plops a few ice cubes from his fingertips on the back of Tamper's neck>

Huh!!!!

Uh Teacher why are the other geniuses laughing at me? I don't understand why it's ironic that this is, as an evil genius, my favorite passage in all of literature.

"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . And then one fine morning— So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

<Appears behind the slumped form of Tamper Lad and places her hands on his head. Instantly the swirling morass of toxins circulating through his bloodstream vanish, the O2 and glucose levels are restored to normal, and his endorphine levels are raised by 500%>

You were a witness to the confrontation between your former girlfriend and Bast the ancient Egyptian Goddess of Cats. Did you see an Ancient Sorcerer and an enormous Lion at any time during that cat-fight?

Just to remind everyone where we stand:

Here’s the current Bill, in light of longtime and recent experiences:

The Eryk Davis Ester/Abin Quank/Cobalt Kid/Princess Crujectra Election Bill:

On the Leader being honest This is the role of the Deputy Leader. The Deputy leader could double-check and just ensure that there is no dishonesty going on. By making it an overt part of the process, there is no need for hard-feelings—“hey, that’s the Deputy Leader’s job, dude!”.

Process Perhaps a specific alt ID, designed solely to run elections is created. It is called ‘Election Tyrant’ or something like that (tribute to old Loser Lad Alt ID on DCMBs). The password is given to the Leader and Deputy Leader. The votes are sent in and tabulated. The PMs are all then subsequently erased. The leader sends on the password to the new leader and new deputy leader. They then change the password so the old leader and deputy leader no longer have it.

Why no Polls and what about Alts Well, the two people in charge (Leader and Deputy Leader) would see who were sending them the PM's for starters. This is directly the reason we cannot use the polling system. Then those two would have to consider if any were alts. Various LMBers can help, as we have a solid idea of who many of the alts are on LW.

Third Permanent Monitor A third monitor, the best choice being Spellbinder/Crujectra could also serve in the election process. Cru is a founder on LW, a longtime respected member of the LMB (from day 1, which was six years ago), and has a wide knowledge of who the alts are. Plus, Cru has been leader twice before, and has expressed that there is no longer a desire for her to run for leader again. Spellbinder would be a permanent third monitor for future elections, on the premise that she never runs again. Any real questions on an alt may then fall to her as we have a definitive way to find them if we must.

What if a PM is deleted from the Alt’s mailbox? Ah, here is the final part of the plan: A thread is created by the leader about the election. Whenever any LMBer votes (re: sending a PM to the Alt), they post in the thread saying “Hey, I voted for leader”. This allows the Deputy Leader and Crujectra to know exactly who has voted. Thus, if by some chance in hell a PM was deleted from the Alt’s mailbox, the Deputy and Cru would know, b/c they’d have a list of who voted right in front of them.

Other important Election topics to consider

- Campaigning in the MMB—it is currently the preference of the majority (those who are giving their opinions) that a limited number of threads be used in the MMB: 1 thread per candidtate to campaign. The Shoutbox and the signatures are also fair game, but no other non-MMB related events on Legion World.

- Discussion on Voter Registration—currently, we are still discussing what this means and if this is necessary.

- One ID/Alt ID per Person is allowed to Run.

- No Alt IDs are allowed to Vote (re: One ID/Alt ID per person is allowed to vote).

- Nomination Process: Self-nominations or some other form? Currently, Self-Nominations are the method, and otherwise voted on, will remain so.

On the issue of campaigning in the MMB:

So we're currently agreed to one official campaign thread per candidate. Also, no campaigning outside the MMB, shoutbox, or tasteful sig lines. What about campaigning in other threads on the MMB? I take it that at least "establishment threads" such as Shakes or the Cafe should be fair game, assuming the owners don't have a problem with it. But do we need rules regarding posts in other MMB threads? And what if I want to endorse a particular candidate? I take it I'm not permitted to start a seperate thread to do so, but should I have to do so in their campaign thread? Should we have an official "endorsements"/"discuss the candidates" thread?

In honesty the registration is not necessary if you have the "vote audit" as discussed yesterday. Everyone who votes must post to a thread and say "I voted". Votes not linked to a post aren't counted.

In the event that a vote has to be disallowed, the public has transparency and there might even be an appeal process to get a vote reinstated if the person wants to make a case. Maybe a poll of everyone who voted in the election.

I like that there only be on thread per candidate for campaging purposes.

How about whoever runs the elections start other threads for the candiates and the populace. Fro example, we could have a debate forum for the candiates to answers questions and respond to things. That person can also start an endrosement thread that people can post on and so forth.

There should be an official election thread owned by the administration reserved for announcements answering questions and admin. Ie no stumping within the information thread.

Beyond that does every person that wants to stump for someone really need to start their own thread? Perhaps SHAKES or CRAMER'S can have endorsement periods or there could be a general stump for your candidate thread.

So, we have the following threads to be started by election administraters:

1. Election Announcement, Procedures, and Information thread
2. Debate Thread (maybe should instead be started by LMB Enquirer or other media source?)
3. Election Discussion/Endorsement Thread

+

1. Each candidate is permitted one official campaign thread.

Should the debate be moderated in any way, or is it just a free-for-all between the candidates?

What we've done in the past is to let anyone who wanted to post a question, and then let candidates respond to whichever ones they wanted. Maybe not the ideal system, but it's worked fairly well.

Yes I'd like to rise on a point of personal privelege to make an announcement.

In light of the facts that I'm accustomed to a somewhat lavish lifestyle and that I've lost access to my young apprentice's student bankroll. This due of course to last night's regrettable events and the fact that her fiancee (and yes I've feminized the noun purposely) terminated my power of attorney over her affairs.

I have just recieved a message from the SUDL that Operation Revenue is complete. EvilTrans Inc. has placed mines inside the LW tesseract system preventing all teleportation technology from operating safely without one of these transponders. We intend to charge a reasonable fee for their use. Interested parties should contact EvilTrans.

Thank you.

Re: campaign threads on the MMB

I don't know that campaign threads taking over the MMB have ever been an issue. In general, people have been able to police themselves fairly nicely on that count, at least as far as I can remember. Perhaps we should just leave it up to the moderators in that forum to keep it running smoothly?

There were complaints during the last election about multiple threads being started for candidates.

That doesn't, of course, necessarily mean that it's something we should regulate, but I think it seems reasonable, mostly because I could see it becoming a serious problem.

Point of order. I don't think announcements are actually points of privelege. But I don't think anyone really cares either...

Point of Information. In response to my venerable collegue from Touston I would inform him that I care and that he is quite correct. The esteemed Evil Genius should have risen to a Point of Information not a Point of Personal Priviledge.

I yielded back the balance of my time.
