Hello!
I've been lurking on the board for awhile now, and after the events of "The Lightening Saga", I finally had the urge to join and make some Legion friends.
So, a small introduction first. I'm a huge Superman fan (Kryptaku = Krypton + Otaku) and my initials happen to be JL, which translate perfectly into a faux Kryptonian name: Jay-El.
How did I get into the Legion? Well, one day while I was picking up my comics a long time ago ... I saw an issue of Legionnaires with Kid Quantum flying with some of the team. It looked interesting, so I picked it up. It was the SW6 team. I immediately loved it, and started to find back issues.
While my collection now is pretty big, my favorite series are the 5YL series, the SW6 Legion, and Valor (turns out, Mon-El is my favorite).
I remember feeling horrible pain at the end of "End of an Era" ... and though I enjoyed much of the Post-Zero Hour Legion, I felt like the original Legion and SW6 still had a lot of good stories left to tell, and I missed them very much.
I stopped collecting Legion at the end of that series, on the final issue prior to Legion Lost (which I'm now trying to find, to re-establish and complete my collection).
I'm back now, because I was curious about the Waid Legion. I like it for what it is, but I had no idea how little I actually *cared* about these guys until the JLA/JSA crossover started. I won't give any spoilers, but today's issue of the JSA was the first time I felt a real emotional connection to the Legion since the end of "End of an Era". It felt damn good.
So, that's why I signed up. I love the Legion and I want to know other folks that love the Legion as well.
Oh, and as a side note: My girlfriend and I are going to San Diego Comic Con this summer in Legion 5YL Military Style costumes .. I'm going as Jay-El, possible decendant of Superman, and she's going as Demon Damsel (which was a character Alex Ross created for Kingdom Come, she has no real back story, so we created one for her). We're also custom making our own Legion Flight rings.
Anyhow, that's about it. Looking forward to chatting and getting to know you folks. And once the rings and costumes are done, I'll post pictures if anyone is interested.
