Thanks Drake. And thanks for the copies of those pages. Thanos is a fav but the BWS from Weapon X is just awesome. Don't know what it is but I love that man's work.

Well, I just got a good laugh (holding Scott's Fantastic 4 pillow against my gut for support.) It's too funny Scott ratting me out about my walk. I just was writing this really whiney e-mail to Blue Battler and telling him how much pain I was in and I realized I sounded like such a baby. So I had to do something powerful and it felt really bold to get dressed, put on tennis shoes even, and go out walking. But I wore a hat, and I took Mom's walker which has been made for the outdoors and has large wheels and hand-brakes like on a ten-speed bike. The walker has a seat even for if I had felt dizzy. I felt bold, but not totally stupid.
That walk was really an effort, and it was in fact too much too soon, but mentally it made me feel happy with myself. I may cry (goddamn hormones, or lack thereof, or whatever) but I am a tough old broad!!!
Today my darling husband won a bid on e-Bay and he got a tee shirt of Poe, his alltime fav classic horror writer. And, he got me a pink tee shirt with black gothic lettering that reads "Sexy Fat Chick"... hahahahahaha I needed that on my walk!!!
Thanks for all your support and good wishes and prayers. Scott and I both have needed your love so much through this and you are all so good to us.

Just take it easy, hon. And know you're loved.

Caroline,
It is good that you are feeling better. Still, try to balance out the need for recovery with your need to push yourself. Don't go all Bruce Wayne on us.
Much love and positive energy to you (and a little to Scott and your mom too)

Caroline, Reading about your little "escape" made me smile a little as it just reminded me of a saying. "Children get colds". "Men get very bad influenza". "Women just get on with it" You take care now and dont over do things. Your body will let you know when it is ready to try other things. And for now let others look after you for a while. PS, Get Scott to buy you a special chocolate dessert to make up for the one you missed in Vegas.

Congratulations on your break for freedom! At this rate you'll soon be walking without any of us fearing for your safety. Just take it easy with the high diving board.

Caroline, I don't know if I should be congratulating you or scolding you after that walk.
You felt you were sending a whiney email.
Any time you want to send a "whiney" email then you bloody well send a "whiney" email lady!
You've been through a lot and if you want to whine to you're friends then you go right ahead.
Friends look after each other, that's what we're for and NO ONE thinks you are "whiney".
Stubborn, strong and slightly insane yes.
Whiney? No!
Be lucky

LOL !!! Thanks for the encouragement everyone, and Walkswithcrowds, you sure have my number ! I think stubborn, strong and slightly insane is perfect to describe me. Got my staples removed ysterday and the plan is to let the sutures dissolve over time. All seems well, and the incision seems clean, dry and free of infection. Got the results of my second c.t. scan, the one from Friday. I have a hematoma beneath about four layers of skin, and it is about 12" long, 7" wide and 5" in depth. It was caused by the trauma to the tissues during surgery, with retractors and instruments and whatnot. If it were to turn into an absess, I'd be back in surgery, and we don't want that. So, I get another two weeks on Augmentin, a strong antibiotic, and we will hope my body re-absorbs the hematoma on its own. Overall, I think I am doing amazingly well, and my doctor is thrilled at my progress and that is always good. I have to be thankful that I am not someone who gives in and lays around feeling sorry for their plight. I want to get on with it and get past this and get back into the fight. If anyone ever knows any woman facing a total open hysterectomy and you want to ask questions or get advice, please feel free to ask me or have her ask me. I have learned all kinds of lessons and the next woman might as well have an easier time right from the get-go! Scott makes me laugh so much and that helps a great deal. Like yesterday, I went to step up onto the tiny step to get seated on the examination table. Well, I guess I never realized that Scott was holding the table down for me all these other times. Yesterday I beat him to it, and I almost flipped the exam table with my big butt. But Scott performed a heroic mid-air spin and dive onto the top of the table and caught it. (Go Lightning Lad!) Then I started giggling and then we just burst out laughing like loons. Can you imagine the uproar that would have caused? (Ouch) Later when we heard a big thud from another room, Scott whispers to me, "yet another exam table tipping." Why aren't those damn things anchored???? Anyway, if I stay out of trouble and I continue to make good progress, I don't have to see the doctor for another month.

We're glad things are looking fairly well; but we're not letting up on out hopes and our prayers.

I'm amazed that you've kept your sense of humor so well, Caroline. I can't say I would under similar circumstances. You two do us all proud.
Since your mom already scolded you for your outdoor shenanigans, I won't. Must be the parental instincts I guess. Still, I'm really so glad you're making such excellent progress.

Just another quick update before I lose battery power. Caroline's hematoma (sp?) started to drain, very profusely, through where she had her surgical drain. So I've taken her into the ER again to make sure everything is okay. The docs seem to think this is a good thing as it will help the abcess area not become infected and will get the serum out of her body without more surgery. I just get to play nurse and keep changing her bandage through the night. Thanks to everyone again and, Chuck, I told her about the SDCP and it helped boost her spirits. Now she can't wait to see what goodies you sent. to everyone!

to everyone! It wasn't just me, and even though I blabbed first the Idea was MEL's and he (along with Cali & Kent) did most of the work to make it happen. I'm just the big-mouth of the group. & From Chuck & Alice P.S. I'll send you & Caroline the first few pages of a script I'm working on for Zeros2Heroes tomorrow or Saturday... I Think you'll like it...

Caroline got her care packages today. You guys and gals are just too cool for words! She was floored by the get well card signed by Waid and Wacker (and, yes, she knew who they were immediately) as well as all the little things.
The Legion poster/card is different than the one I got on eBay, a totally different back. And the Len Wein Lightning Lad is going to get framed! Caroline already has plans for scrapbooking most of it including Kevin's envelope art. And Kevin, you have to let me know how much I owe you (or whoever wound up paying for them) for the covers. They are gorgeous!
There are just no words for how much we love you all.

Thank you soooooo much everyone!! And Kevin, your one-of-a-kind artwork really made the envelopes and cards extra special. I tend to break out into tears easily lately, and getting so much love in the mail had me all weepy. How wonderful to hear from everyone, and to have the signatures of so many artists and writers and great friends. It really meant a lot to both Scott and I. You know I will scrapbook the cards, and Scott's collection will be archieved and put in glass frames for display in his office at work, or in his comic room here at home. Since we had to miss everyone in Vegas, ansd the Con itself, this was like being there, at least in spirit. Thank you all !!! *kisses*

Getting the card signed by Waid and Wacker was my mission at SDCC. I don't remember whose idea it was-- maybe MEL's or Kent's-- but it seemed like a good one. When I was trying to stalk them at the DC booth, I roped Grant Morrison and his wife into helping me. His wife was so adoreable and they had crazy matching accents. Christina Weir, Nunzio Filipe and Janet Van Meter helped out, too. When I eventually did find them, both Wacker and Waid were thrilled for the chance to sign the card. Really super nice about it. And I'm so, so happy you liked it. Oh!! And save Kevin's art. When he's famous someday, you can sell it on eBay and pay off your morgage. I know that's what I'm gonna do...
