You know, I miss the little Transformers surprises you used to drop in my room thread from time to time. I appreciated that. Though I do agree, the MMB isn't the same place it used to be a couple months ago. That's not a good or bad assessment, just an acknowledgement of change. I'm sure the timbre of the forum will change again, and again. That's part of the fun of having a living, breathing community.

That wasn't my intent.

You've done so much, from the Heroclix (which I still have on my computer desk) to the board itself. Both you and Gary. We all owe you both a great deal for enriching our lives so.

I know it wasn't your intent. But I do feel like I've been slacking in my responsibilities here. Maybe if I can get this server I'm working on built and actually working it'll make up for all the troubles we've been having of late.

Well, why have any headlined threads for that matter? The suggestion that some threads are more "intrinsically important" is just a subjective opinion. Let the posters decide what stays up top.

I actually agree with that. I was mildly offended by the "intrinsically important" line.

I think I'll just stick to the Bit's of Legionnaire Business section...

To be honest, I didn't know what intrinsic meant. I had to go look it up. I still don't think I could use it in a sentence.

I really need a more well-rounded vocabulary. I've become far too comfortable with the words I know... smile

Oh heck... I forgot to mention what I was originally gonna post:

I can see the value of headlining certain topics, if only temporarily, such as currently open polls, or maybe a thread like "Advice for New Posters," which contains potentially useful information, but doesn't really get any regular posts (although since it's in the Science Police section, chances are that it won't often get bumped off page one anyways).

Threads that get posted to daily probably don't need to get headlined, since they will always be near the top of page one anyways.

I can see the value of headlining an "Embassy"-type thread, since it provides easy access to the current LW leaders, although I suppose if one had a question it would be easy enough to either start a new topic or PM a leader...

Hmmm... I guess I can see the value of each side in this debate. Gee... I'm not really very helpful, am I? laugh

I always loved those "Word-a-Day" calendars. I would find a way to use the word of the day in a sentence, both written and spoken.

I guess I'm just confused by why this suddenly is a hot topic.

KP is right, things are very different here at Legion World lately. I can't put my finger on it.

Personally, I don't like where things are going right now. Again, this is just opinion. I really haven't posted or even lurked as much lately. I just don't find it as fun and exciting to come here as I once did.

Maybe it's just the newness wearing off...

Oh, I still think it's fun and exciting, don't get me wrong! And I enjoy the fact that there are so many new folks for me to (eventually) meet and make friends with.

I hope that changes Danny! I find it fun and exciting to be here, although it goes through periods where things are slow! I've only recently had the chance to really start having conversations with you, so I hope that you don't stop posting now. Stick around and see where the forum goes, I'm sure it'll be fun for you again!

I don't know if I would necessarily call this a "hot issue". It's something that came up, and we're just bouncing around opinions. Of course, if beer bottles start flyin'... wink

One thing that bugged me about headlined threads that I had forgotten was that if there are alot of headlined threads and you are using an 800x600 screen resolution on your monitor, sometimes all that will show up when entering a forum is headlined threads. It was a little pain in the rump to have to scroll past headlined threads to see the OTHER new posts. Of course, now I use a higher resolution, so it's less of a pain, but still it can be a little annoying to figure out where the headlines end and the other topics begin.

I dunno. I don't think it hurts to bounce the topic around a little and see what everyone thinks... it doesn't mean that we HAVE to do things differently than we are now... just that, perhaps, we COULD do things differently.

Well, it IS quite a bit quieter of late - days old threads are staying on the Legion & MMB forums when they didn't before among other things. And a few posters like TD have vanished altogether.

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Teeds is here. She just doesn't want to be Teeds at this particular time.

And guys, personally I don't mind 5 or 20 featured topics. But 3 was a rule that Scott started way back when and it makes sense to me. This topic came up (thanks to Reep) in the PCM (another forum that has died a bit, I'm afraid), I saw Reep's point, but then had to come up with another way to keep things organized.

These places are only as fun as you make them. For me, when I've had the time, I've tried to bring interest to the Creator's section, since they weren't being as utilized as I'd have liked them to be, but...

...now that my schedule has cleared again for a bit, I'll try to make things more lively here and the rest of the board. smile

Well, the dance of the7 veils isa little tired. Would you consider a silk thong. I'd even install a pole at SHAKES (Icey's been bugging me to).

No one wants to see me in a thong. Trust me.

And I thought there was a pole? Or is it in the Starfield Room?

The pole's in the Starfield Room which has been untethered and cast adrift - most likely by devious scoundrels.

I'm working on the picture thing as we speak! I've got a camera left over from a party I had this summer where I got too drunk to take pictures. I have half the role, so I think I'll have someone take some pics of me, and then have my little brother (resident computer genius) scan them for me and send them to my laptop. And for all of you who've been waiting, I will post a pic of Cobalt Kid!

Just take a look at the statue if you need an idea of what the legendary poster looks like wink

Hey! I did that! Shakes and the Starfield Room have proven strong enough to NOT need the "tether." They can survive without it. And the door between them is still open!

Besides it's called "Shakes," it needed to be shaken up a bit. laugh
