That's always the question, isn't it. Mitzie's pretty active for a ten year old, most people still mistake her for a puppy, so I think she'll be fine.

A couple years our cat Remy (for Gambit) experienced a concussion from running around chasing another cat and crashing head-first into the bath tub. The vet diagnosed the concussion and prescribed eye drops...why? And, Remy ended up losing sight in that eye. It's hard for us to not feel guilty, yet we thought we were doing the right thing by going to the vet right away. But he's still active and happy and just as smart as ever.

We also have one cat that was born in 1985 and one born in 1987. The rest are younger than 5 yrs.

BTW, Caroline, I tried your winter fruit pie recipe today. It's fantastic.

You do realize Caroline, that some of your cats are almost as old as some of the LW posters.

Wow, 18 and 16. Your cats must have nine lives.

Semi, thanks so much for pointing out I'm an old lady. Oh the pain! I turn 44 on New Year's Eve. (But I did rob the cradle for Scott, so it's sweet. And, people think I'm ten years younger than I really am.)

Not quite sure how I pointed you out as an old lady. You could have gotten those cats when you were a young filly yourself and still be only 19. Whatever, I'm still old enough to be your older brother. And believe me, Caroline - we're still young.

Well, technically you are right. But I was thinking of my first cat, Quentin (from Dark Shadows.) I got him in 1966 and he passed away in 1985, which was when I got the one who is old now. But yes, I still feel young. And, in fact, I wouldn't want to be young again unless I could keep the knowledge I've gained.

I HATED my teen years. I couldn't figure out who I was or what I wanted to do with my life. I have however enjoyed my life since my 30's.

I liked my 20's and 30's.

In the morning and early afternoon, I'm doing a pro-bono family law clinic for people who can't afford legal advice. After that, I'm going to buy my Christmas tree.

That's really great Semi. Reminds me, I got tapped for jury duty Dec-March. I requested to be excused due to my parents' health, but the Judge doesn't excuse for any reason so I was denied. It makes me angry, but there's every chance during my juror interview I would be disqualified because I worked in the Sheriff's Office.

What kind of tree are you going to get? Particular favorite? We always go for a Douglas Fir.

My signature drink is pretty simple: its a martini made with Hendricks gin, a whisper of Noilly Pratt dry vermouth, shaken one hundred times (no more, no less) in a stainless steel shaker, garnished with a slice of cucumber, and (optional) a sliver of celery.

Here, the common tree is a Noble Fir, which is like a spruce, and I imagine, a douglas fir. That's my favorite. I'm not fond of the long needle pines. I like the short needle varieties.

Noble Fir is pretty. My brother loves the Ponderosa Pine, the longer needles are his favorite. His wife collects eastern european mouth-blown glass ornaments and they do look pretty on their tree.

Hey here's a new snack for SHAKES, raspberry chipolte salsa served over cream cheese to be eaten with a variety of crackers. Very bright red and white for the holidays, and the raspberry balances the heat of the pepper. Yummy!

Saturn Girl, you're our official hors d'ouvre consultant for the holidays. Sounds wonderful.

It'll probably outshine our cheese and baby weiner buffet.

I'd be happy to work up some festive snack offerings for the bar. Gotta work on some stuffed mushroom caps tomorrow while I'm baking the gingerbread cookies. Some hot snacks for Saturday night. I need another drink please.

I think it would be awfully fun to spend a day in the kitchen with you, Caroline. Of course, if I had my way, we'd be so drunk by dinnertime.

Is the hot tub open?

I'd love to cook with friends. The whole cabin away from home with a group of friends has always been a dream of mine. Like the George Michael 'Last Christmas' video. And, I'd be way easy to get drunk. I can't hold my liquor.

I don't know. Icey hasn't been in it for a while, so I don't know if it's been kept up. I'd be a little careful. Furthermore, Starfield Room (where the hot tub is located) isn't my establishment (yet-bwahh-ha-ha-ha --- evil laugh)
