I reckon in the next year
1) Saturn Girl will be torn apart limb from bloody limb by a flange of angry gorillas for reverting to her pink bikini outfit and therefore breaking the prime law of "Thou shalt not look bloody ridiculous" while on a mission in ultra- fashion consious Gorilla City (hey we've yet to see it in the 35th C so why not?)...
2)Element Lad will return - and he's still the nutso legion killer Jan we knew and loved...
3)Ferro will come out as a ball room dance fan...
4) Issue 25 will be so good riots will break out outside of suppliers as they can't keep up with the demand....
5)The Kwai will be revealed as a hivemind bent on universal assimilation of all living things... 'cause we haven't seen enough variations of that theme already....
Pensioners in Dorset could be lucky toooo

1. Lori Morning joins the Legion. But since the H-dial is busted she fights crime by distracting villians using delicous Hostess Fruit Pies, the tasty snack you'd have to be crazy to hate. 2. all the boy legionnaires pine endlessly after Lori. 3. THE LEGION becomes LORI MORNING STARRING THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES 4. The next big storyline: Dark Circle Rising Part Two 5. Jeff Moy returns as the regular penciller. Entire isuues devoted to endless full page pin-ups of Lori sticking her tounge out.

1. Zoe becomes the new Emerald Emperess.
2. An Element Lad strongly resembling the pre-boot Jan comes through hypertime and gets stranded in the post-boot.
3. There's a new Legion trade paperback within the year.
4. Vi gets a major storyline and a love interest within two years.
5. DC finally lets Lyle out of the closet.

Response to Greybird's comments:
Of course I'm not calling people here cowards. I was referring, jokingly, to DC management/editors - who I have sometimes suspected of "cowardly" avoiding any controversial or politically-sensitive issues in stories.
In that sense, I'm the number one coward myself - when I worked for a large corporation, I absolutely towed the line, kept my opinions to myself - and, of course, you never, never risk offending the customers, even if they are a minority. Some would call it "self-preservation" rather than cowardice, but, unless you're a true believer and think that everything the company does/thinks is tickety-boo with you, it's a form of cowardice to remain silent for fear of offending the bosses. Or is discretion just the better part of sales?
I believe there is a lesbian couple in one of the Batman spin-offs (Nightwing?), so maybe DC is just proceeding with caution in what they may consider "controversial" subject matter. Or maybe I'm full of shit and they just don't see it fitting in The Legion story-arcs so far.
As for Americans being rabidly opposed to gay marriage, I'll acknowledge I should have written "some Americans" - just as some Canadians are rabidly opposed - and they seem to get the most air-time in our media. I don't have the poll results - I take polls with a pound of salt anyways - the non-response and the false response rates are high and were climbing when I left the business 10 years ago. However, I believe that, regardless of what the affable majority may think about the issue, gay couples in comics may still be considered uncharted territory, possibly provoking angry response. Look at how that Christian group was able to intimidate some charitable group (Make a Wish?) from an association with a comic-book convention because of the "pornographic" comics/images at the con. Few business want to deal with that kind of opposition.
Of course, there is a puzzling-to-me absence of couples generally in The Legion, for which I have no particular explanation.

1. RJ Brande will finally be revealed to be J'onn J'onzz, and it will be shown how he intentionally instigated the events of LSH #0 to form a much needed super group for the 30th century.
2. DNA will bring back Lori Morning, but write her so that people actually like her.
3. The Superboy joining in #25 will really be the pocket universe Kal-El.
4. In hommage to the classic ADVENTURE 2-parter, DNA write a tale in which M'onel, Superboy, Triad and Umbra must flee to the 20th century to escape Mordru.
5. There will be a Hypertime Maxi-Series that somewhat follows the spirit of AVENGERS FOREVER in which we see how the Time Trapper (a single Trapper) has been manipulating the Legion throughout throughout various timelines. It climaxes with a deadly battle between the Trapper and the current team at the end of time. The 12-part series is called LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES: TILL THE END OF TIME and is drawn by Steve Lightle with painted covers by Alex Ross.

WTH:
1) Kid Q2 will step down as leader to be replaced by Cos or Lyle
2) Apparition will break up with Ultra Boy, but NOT take up with Timber Wolf.
3) Live Wire will return
4) The Legion will pick up a Progeny member (or at least Academy student)
5) Violet will actually do something [and it will not involve a year in a sens-dep tank with no-one noticing]

My predictions: #1 - Dreamer joins the Legion OFFICIALLY!! I think she is still a supporting character in the Legion right now...no Legion flight ring yet....so I am hoping that DnA finally makes her a legionnaire she should be in the first place!
#2 - Andromeda returns - how could she be missing from the Legion's 45th Anniversary?!?!? She needs to be there....am not sure about Thunder...
#3 - Superboy turns out to be the real Kon-El.
#4 - at least two members of the Credo end up joining the Legion. (Why not?)
#5 - Kinetix is being transformed....again.

Predictions:
1) Anniversary Issue #25 featuring the "return" of Kon-El to the 31st century will be a big tease, and Kon will quickly soon after unceremoniously return to the Teen Titans, making Legion readers wonder "what the El" was the big-to-do about this issue?
2) By issue #50, the Legion will have expanded to 50 members, adding Dreamer, Tenzil Kem, Polar Boy, Live Wire, Element Lad, Colossal Boy, Blok, Quislet, Dawnstar and some new characters. The large cast of characters will be the basis for ...
3) A second Legion monthly. Half the group will commit to defending law and order in the darker, spookier Credo-less Progeny/Kwai universe, building a United Planets there from scratch. DnA will write this monthly, much like a Vertigo style book.
4) Cub will turn out to be Singularity from a different Hypertime. When the two "singularities" meet, a cataclysmic event will occur (splitting the Legion into two groups!)
5) The aforementioned second Legion title will feature SW6 type Legionnaires who look colorful and can easily be transferred to cartoon animations (Legion Adventures!) It will include Triad, Bouncing Boy, M-E Lad, Spark, Colossal Boy, Sun Boy, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Karate Kid, Dawnstar, Invisible Kid II, Gas Girl, Polar Boy, Chameleon, Gates and Brainiac 5. This title will exist in the current United Planets and be written by Kurt Busiek.

I like the idea of a "Legion Forever" mini--as long as we get Busiek or Johns to write it (Johns seems to be to the DC universe what Busiek is to the Marvel--someone who knows the history well, and can yank great things out of marginal or rebooted characters). The Time Trapper defintely needs a little bit of reboot and definitive placement in the 31st century.
1. Due to the events of the Legion Forever mini, the current Legion has contacts with Legions from different timelines and time periods, thus making crossover events possbile, a la the JLA/JSA crossovers of years past. Silver Age Legion, Levitz Legion, alt-history Legions from v2 300, TMK Legion, all can band together to save the universe, once a year. Authors can pick which ones to focus on.
2. The incredible popularity of the Legion Crosstime Crossovers leads to a permanent Legion elseworlds title.
3. Cub is Garth. Ewww.
4. We will see more romance in the Legion. They're getting older, after all. Aren't they?
5. The Legion under DnA will get smaller before it gets larger--characters will be farmed off to "Missions," like during the Silver Age when members always seemed to be off somewhere doing something else.
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
Don't judge me!

1) Thunder will pop up during the next major story arc to save the day at the last possible moment, after the bad guy takes out the rest of the Legion. Naturally, she promptly rejoins.
2) R.J.Brande will be kidnapped or otherwise endangered by the Credo.
3) Tinya's third body shows up, kidnaps her and impersonates her. The real Tinya's disappearance won't be noticed for another year, and when they do find her she will be in a sens-tank.
4) Timber Wolf will kill someone in battle, and will be expelled after a trial which will end in a tie, but will rejoin after rescuing Tinya from the sens-tank.
5) Kinetix will finally be returned to normal, her powers will actually become specific, and DNA will actually make her a core Legionnaire. (I can dream, can't I?)

It could imply that she doesn't really like herself, or reflect that spot of madness in all of us... would Jo notice the difference? Even more telling if Brin noticed and Jo didn't. And would body #2 play a part in this?

Thanks for the interest, Fat Cramer. I was thinking of predictions when I realized that Tinya's third body is still out there somewhere, and with Brainy being such an important cast member we need someone else to go insane. I had intended it to be tongue-in-cheek, but I'm glad you saw something in the idea Plus, maybe Triad would befriend Tinya since they both have to deal with pretty much the same issues. Of course, it basically copies the pre-boot Yera storyline, so I can't claim any originality

Copies the Yera story basically, but instead of a political/adventure story, it becomes a psychological thriller.
Based on what I've read here of Legion #25, perhaps Tinya #3 could strike up a relationship with Mekt; they would have something in common. Personally, I'm tired of Brainiac 5 going insane; it would be a pleasure to have some other candidates for the Cuckoo Academy, even if they are not the "good guys".

These were my predictions in the opening post of this topic four months ago. With the New Year closing upon us, it's a good time to make some new BOLD Legion predictions for 2004. Well, reviewing my above prognostications, I kinda haven't changed my views. I would change only # 2 & 3. I don't think Shooter's Last story will see publication next year, if ever. As for # 3, I predict two not one Legionnaire will die in next year's issues, but one will still be a brunette female! In lieu of # 2, I substitute a prediction that Paul Levitz will script at least one Legion story next year, possibly a mini-series. So, what are your Five Bold Predictions? So if you made some before, and if so, do you still agree with them?

Good idea Reep! Here are my updates on my five (actually, I went nuts and made eleven) BOLD predictions:
1. I predict that DnA will leave even sooner than Reep thinks they will.
I'll back off this prediction a bit. I think DnA are remaking the reboot a bit to their own personal preferences, what with the "Foundations" arc timeslips. This intimates to me that they intend to stick around for awhile.
I'll amend #1 to have them around until at least issue #50 now.
2. I predict that Jim Shooter's "The Last Legion Story" will see print next year, but as a Prestige Format limited series. The art will be supplied by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.
I am still sticking by this one to happen by the end of 2004.
3. I predict that Cub will play a key part in the upcoming Darksied story, most likely as a reincarnation of Orion. He will then depart the scene.
Still believing in this one as the most likely fate of Cub..
4. I predict that the dead hero returned to life, as initimated in the teaser to Legion #25, will be Colossal Boy.
Looks like I missed the mark by a wide margin here. I'll amend this prediction to read: "DnA will bring back Gim in some form by issue #50."
5. I predict that DC will revive Adventure Comics as a magazine size anthology aimed at the bookstore market. Each issue will be anchored by a solo Legionniare story written by a "name" creator.
More wishing than predicting here. I'll sweeten the pot by combining this one with #11.
6. I predict that the writer to take over after DnA will be Mark Waid.
I'll recant on this one. Now that Waid has been un-fired from FF, I think it unlikely that he will undertake any extended projects for DC.
7. I predict that Waid will reintroduce Lori Morning in a Time Trapper story that will perdorm a mini reboot on the book, returing it's plot lines to when he left soon after the reboot.
I'll give myself a half-hit here. Waid won't return, and Lori won't be the Time Trapper, but I think "Foundations" will prove that I had picked up on a mini-reboot being iminent.
8. I predict that I will be among the first 10 posters on Legion World to make Legionniare status.
This appears in doubt now as I keep sliding further and further back in the standings. Still there is hope. I expect it will take at least 3 more years for the 25th poster to reach Legionniare status.
9. I predict that one of next years "Lost Annuals" from DC will be Jimmy Olsen Annual #1 It will feature an Elastic Lad story, as well as at least two other stories not reprinted in the Legion Archives that either feature of cameo Legion members.
Still predicting this to happen by the end of 2004.
10. I predict that, within two years, we will be watching a Legion cartoon on the Cartoon Network. The series will be closer in visual tone to the Justice League cartoon than the Teen Titans.
Standing by this one too. The premier should be sometime in the fall of 2005.
11. I predict that, after his run on Superman, Jim Lee will undertake a 12 issue run on the Legion.
Standing firm on this one as well. However, Lee's run won't be on the current ongoing series, but will launch a new Adventure Comic anthology series.
