Good Morning -- Everyone--- thank you so much for your kindness! LLL!
Yesterday was wonderful! I spent most of it with my three brothers and three sisters and my mom -- and a bunch of other relatives, too -- at my mom's house. Even though there were extra folks there yesterday, my family actually has these
gatherings every Sunday- I do have a Super-Family!
I am the fourth of seven children, and I can't tell you all how great it is to be from a family that gets along, and pulls together so wonderfully in times of crisis. I felt somewhat guitly being the center of attention, but at the same time it did me a world of good.
I am leaving in a few minutes for a 6:30 AM appt. at the hospital -- those two tests (I'll find out if it has spread from this) I will get the results of Wed. before my 1st Chemo! I feel good about it, and am expecting to hear that there is NO SPREAD of the cancer and that it is just in the one place! (Got to be positive.) I will let everyone know Wednesday PM.

Hey Wayne! You sound upbeat, that's half the battle. Keep in touch! Just watch out if you see some guy who looks like Dr. Gym'll; he'll try and stick you with a bill before he even does anything!

Best of luck Wayne, I've got my mighty shrinking powers trained on your tumor and I know others here are using their powers to help as well. You'll see the results in those tests I'm sure with all this help you're getting here!

Thanks everyone! Today's procedures -- the Brain MRI and Bone Scan -- went fine. The results will not be known, as I mentioned, until at least Wednesday. Until then, I just won't worry.******
******Tuesday 30 Sep '03 - At radiation today I asked and found out the results of Monday's tests and the results are -- no spread! The cancer is limited to where it is now -- so the Chemo and Radiation should get it all!
Tomorrow is Radiation number 5, of the first 10 scheduled. Maybe in few days I will hopefully start showing some changes in the pneumonia from the tumor shrinking and the infection clearing up. I don't know yet if there will be Radiation past these 10, my Oncologist will make that decision.
I still feel fine, and I hope that continues, but I am not going to be unrealistic about it. However, I will stay positive!
Some short and long term goals: Christmas with my family, seeing "Return of the King" at the theater, enjoying the complete season of "Angel,"
reading "The Legion" #s 25 - 50 as they are published.

Good morning everyone! I will try to update later today. I am still feeling, over-all, ok. But, the the radiation is beginning to make my throat sore, (I have a liquid coating to combat that). The the chemo and I seem to be getting along, so far.
Note/observation: Not to begin a flame war but, one of my meds without my insurance would have been $281.00 for 10 pills-- Zofran. Thank Goodness as retired military I have a cap on drug costs. To see the price I would have paid really broke my heart.

Good to hear from you, and better that it's good news.
I have to agree with you on prescription drug costs. I sometimes wonder how people with serious medical conditions who don't have a decent insurance plan can ever hope to pay the costs. Thankfully people like us, (Retired Military) have our service benefits to fall back on. Are you close enough to a base where you could get the meds at no cost or do you have to use Champus/Tricare?

I have to agree with you guys on that too. I don't want to make this forum one about politics and business and the like, but the fact that these drugs can help people throughout the entire world, but aren't provided because corporations won't make enough money on it is something that I've always fought about. It's just sad really.

Everything that I wanted to say has already been said, and much more eloquently that I can express it. But believe you me, the people on this board are the best, bar none.
