I was re-reading the Levitz era, and I paid a little more attention, than last time I read it( they came out when i was 10, so I missed alot,i'm 24 now.) I know that Levitz and Giffen were trying to make the Legion appear older, but was she graying prematurely, or what?

i always thought her hair looked like it had phased some how !!!???

I think that the comic book companies went thru a phase for a short time where they tried to get rid of the "blue hair" look in their characters. Around that time, John Byrne was doing it with his rebooted Superman, and other characters as well were getting grey highlights as opposed to blue, or total silouette black.

This concern passed and Supes and the rest eventually got their 'natural' blue highlights back!

I always assumed she'd just dyed the top of her hair grey. I mean, those 30th century fashions are a little crazy - look at her previous costume or Infectious Lass's interesting eye make-up!

How could you forget her RED vest/sweater??? it's in Who's Who in the Legion...ugh!

That was my least-favorite look for Tinya ever. Blue & red... ugggh!

Personally, after seeing her in Dean's BLACK VINYL thread, I have to say BLACK is where it's at for Tinya! The white has gotten tired...

If Apparition got some mud on her feet, she'd have to clean her whole outfit. That'd be such a hassle.

Giffen did make Tinya look quite different than what we were used to.

What grey hair? What red sweater? Anyone got pics?

The grey is wierd. It doesn't look like highlighting to me. The costume might have been okay without the red shirt. (Hmm, red shirt. Could this costume be foreshadowing Giffen's plans for the Tinya? )

I recall reading somewhere that the red was a mistake, that Giffen was appalled. I must agree.

I have always liked the idea of Phantom Girl/Apparition looking very ethereal, ghost-like, so I did not like this look for her. Many people like the idea of Tinya having the "indie rock" look with short, spiky hair, and probably a punkish/gothish costume to match. I'd have to see it before I could assess.

Hmmm... I feel a sketch coming on....

Unless my copy of the comic was spilled by red ink, wasnt Phantom Girl's tunic supposed to be white?

This irritated Giffen, IIRC.

Just one other piece of colour-related trivia to add: the colourist also badly screwed up on Jo Nah's outfit: it was originally supposed to have been all black, not brown and grey. Apparently Giffen was quite dismayed about this mistake, too, because he wanted Jo to sort of have a swashbuckler look. There was even a bit of dialogue where a couple of the other Legionairres said words to the effect, "Jo looks like the pirate now that he always fancied himself to be."

Go to Bits! Phantom Girl is star of the June Museum of Legion Arts.

This is the same costume she wore as Phase in the L.E.G.I.O.N., but the colors were fixed. It was just a simple white and black outfit. Not bad for its day.

My favorite is still the Cockrum look -- dated though it may be -- it was sexy!
