FYI for the mathematically challenged, the hardcover with 55-60 contains six issues. So if Shooter's arc was 16 issues, it would have ended at 52 -- a number that, as someone said, has resonance in the DCU.

I just read the new hardcover last night. Shooter's stories really work when read together. There is a depth and continuity to the stories, and there is a great balance in the time spent on the different characters. By far the worst thing about the hardcover is the art in the final issue . It sucked when read separately, but it looks even worse right next to Manupul's art. (The other fill-in art closer to Manapul's, so it works better. The only thing I found jarring is the way the fill-in softened Timber Wolf's look.)

Yeah that's a great cover. I have a feeling when that issue hits the stands it will reveal the new Legionares who will fill the space beneath Dawnstar

Shikari is the 'Dawnstar' of the second generation Legion, but the 'threeboot' doesn't really have a stand-in for Dawny...

Well, she is and she isn't. She fills Dawnstar's niche in the ecosystem, but the two really are different characters.

Very true. As much as I generally prefer the pre-Crisis Legion to the reboot one, I really like Shikari much better than Dawnstar.

I *could* like Dawnstar, but I feel that she was never really written well. She came off as either haughty or kind of obnoxious. She also had 'Psylocke syndrome' and felt the need to explain her powers (and how awesome / infallible they were) every time she opened her mouth. smile

Dawnstar needs somebody who'll give her the kind of rewrite-reimagining that the fanfic writer Macedon gave Chakotay from Trek:Voyager. Not that I'm holding my breath...

Agreed, on all counts.

I DID like Johns connecting her to Thanagar.
I've always thought that that was a more exciting and natural connection for her than Amerand.

Oh, and I like the Dawny cover, too.
I HATE key-hole costumes, though.
That one is just behind Power Girl's for tastelessness, imo.

REBELS looks like fun ~ I always like to see a Brainy in trouble.

And Lar is back!!!!!
