1. He was a great villain in the Action Comics arc IMO and I feel he has a lot more stories left in that role.
2. Though I was somewhat buying into his reformation storyline (and was enjoying the friction he was bringing to the team) the simple fact is that he should never have been on this team in the first place - the Legion would NEVER allow someone who had killed a colleague of theirs (Double-Header), as well as who knows however many other people, onto their team - and I think it was bad storytelling that ever let this situation come to pass. But that said, I don't think a heroic(?) death for him is the logical or preferred ending to this storyline. This all needs to have been a trick by the Legion to lure his ex-teammates out of hiding or something. I need a better reason for the Legion's actions in this mess than they're just cool with murderers now, or that they were too spineless to stand up to EarthGov.
3. It's such a cliche to have the bad guy see the error of his ways and then die trying to do something good (assuming that's how he goes out). The LSH should be a book of innovation - not re-treads. Interestingly, I agree with virtually everything you said but make a totally different conclusion. I guess where I am coming from is 1 I don't want anyone else killed off so getting rid of EM is the least worst option 2 He obviously has some feelings for Shadow Lass (albeit of a physical nature) so an immediate reaction to save her would not be a calculated heroic act so would be plausible without too great a conversion 3 He would have paid the price for his former actions and got the Legion out of a tedious situation 4 Without a complete story-telling volt-face, it would be difficult to see how he could resume his villainous ways just my thoughts for what they are worth...

Did I miss anyone? [/b]Reboot Monstress. Also, EM called Brainy a 'something, something ALIEN' on the preview pages for this month's LSH. Brin called him on it and he changed the statement. I don't think he has very far to go to be back into his villian persona.

Considering this series opened up with Earth Man's hand on it with a Legion ring and a power ring, it would make sense for the issue he dies in to feature his hand.

I dislike Earth Man so much, a heroic death, would really just annoy me further.

Reboot/future Wanderers ![[Linked Image]](http://i48.tinypic.com/do98qb.jpg) Oh, and as you can see, Jan is there, as well as Garth and they both died in LOST, too. (Yes, Garth came back in a part of Jan, but still. . . ) I remember getting ticked that Monstress was killed again. Her statue is in the Hall of Dead Legionnaires, or whatever, along with Zoe.

Okay, so we've got Karate Kid and um . . . who else? I do not think this word, many, means what they think it means. Again, I believe "Legionnaire" can apply to members of the Legion of Super-Heroes or the Legion of Super-Villains. Nemesis Kid might even count twice, having been on both teams; of course, he only died once. I don't think she died again. There is a statue of her in that same issue, but I got the impression that the dead of the Legionnaires- past and present- of the three Legions were represented there by Perez, including Leviathan. Nice touch, since there remain no statues elsewhere of the reboot's honored dead.

I don't think Monstress was portrayed as being alive (and then killed again) in L3W. The above scene is from the first issue, where Brainiac 5 is explaining the existence of the other Legions based on his memory of a previous adventure with them.
When the two alternate teams are actually introduced into the L3W story - issue #2 - Monstress is not in the group shot and Jarth is clearly present.

Yeah, IIRC, that was a group shot (as there was one for the Earth-Prime/Threeboot Legion) to go along with the description of that Legion, pretty much showing every one who was ever a member of the reboot. It was just artistic license, as that group shot was impossible with such members as Kid Quantum I and Leviathan being in the shot with others who came along after their deaths (among other elements you could dissect).

I'll look up my issues, they're somewhere here. I believe you, I just remember her statue with the others. Bad memory and blindness, I guess. I think I'm about done with comics. I gave up most reading a year or so ago. Thanks for being so blunt.

L3W was confusing on a lot levels. It's kind of become a Perez signature move to draw as many characters into a scene as possible. He frequently includes a number of characters that the writer hasn't give any dialogue to. It can make for a great visual but can also sometimes take away from the flow of the story and imply things that the writer didn't intend.

I agree with your interpretation, KK. In looking at the issue again, it is easy to see how others might interpret it differently.
Dawnstar says, "...with great sadness, but great admiration we erect these statues in honor of those who recently gave their lives."
To me, that statement is referring to new statues of Myg, threeboot Element Lad, Kinetix, threeboot Sun Boy, and Rond. All of these characters died in L3W, and are in close proximity right behind Dawnstar, actually in front of the purple curtain.
Further back and more behind the curtain - depending on perspective - are statues of Ferro Lad, Triplicate Girl, Invisible Kid (Lyle), Monstress, Proty, and Leviathan.
So, I read it as new statues of the five who died "recently" being added to existing statues of the previously dead. Again, others could realistically see it differently.

So, what if the cover to LSH is misleading because....the hand's supposed to be...green?

It would certainly be a bold move, and open up some development for the other scientific-minded Legionnaires to strut their stuff.
[Although I wouldn't be particularly thrilled by Harmonia Li hanging around as science advisor or whatever. She's failing to ignite my interest the way Theena or M'Rissey, or Gear or Reboot Lyle did.)
He'd likely not stay dead, but have downloaded his brain into Computo or the HQ and come back within a year or so, but I'd be all for him having a vacation.

I dont want Brainiac 5 to die....without him, the Legion won't be the same. BTW, Cinar has posted his short comments that he loves drawing Tyroc and its "explosive" he loves it! hmmmm...so Tyroc s his favorite for now?

Here's my surprise ending to the LSV saga:
The Legionnaire who is killed in battle is brought back to life by Variable Kid, who temporarily assumes the powers of the Wanderer Re-Animage to pull off the feat.
Due to the fact that the LSV recruited over 50 members, the LSH decides it needs to bolster its ranks. Power Boy and Glorith are added to replace Black Witch and Blok, who have gone to Reserve status. Lamprey, Nightwind, Crystal Kid, Infectious Lass, Comet Queen, Chemical Kid, Gravity Kid, Dragonwing and Variable Kid are also added. The surprise appearance of Karate Kid turned the tide of battle with the LSV, and he is made a member as well in the largest recruiting class ever to join the Legion at one time.
Duplicate Girl and Bouncing Boy and Night Girl welcome a new Freshman Class to the Academy: A very young Kid Quantum, Gear, Monstress, Garlak, Elastic Lad, Laser Ape, and someone who looks a lot like Kinetix.

'Earth 1' versions of Kid Quantum, Gear and Kinetix could be interesting. And my love for Laser Ape is well-known. I'd actually be interested in seeing classic interpretations of some 5YL characters, like Reflex.
