From bzzurkk.com "BZZURKK - Can you reveal any news on the Legion for DC Universe Classics? Mattel - We are working on something really great. Stay tuned." More than a little light on info, but at least they're thinking of the LSH.

Yeah, I also saw that response. I am happy that something is finally in the works. I was very disappointed that in 12 waves, not one Legionnaire has appeared. Superboy is in wave 13 -- hopefully it's a late Silver Age or Bronze Age version -- something to build a Legion around.

Slightly unrelated but if anybody is collecting the DC Superhero Figurine Collection then there are some Legionnaires on their way.
Number 68 will be Garth, 71 Rokk and 78 Imra.
They are on 40 at present so there is still a while to go.

Do artists get royalties when their designs - I'm thinking only costumes here - appear on figurines/statues trade-cards etc? The idea of Frank getting anything for Garth is not pleasing. Bring back the classic Cockrum outfit.

Looking at the pictures they are using for the covers I would say that Rokk and Imra are going to be in their current Frank costume as they are the same as their Lo3W covers. But the Garth one is completely different so there is a possibility it could be the Cockrum costume. Admittedly a very small one.

I'm not sure if our State-side cousins can get these directly.

Articles have been completed as to which characters we'd like to see made by Mattel first. http://www.criticalmess.net/index.php?page=344

From a Q&A with Mattel: Hyperion asks:
"There are, without a doubt, dozens if not hundred characters on the possible-pending list. Most, if not all, have had costume modifications over the years. What is the likelihood of, when a character (such as Legion founders Cosmic Boy or Saturn Girl) is selected (without giving a specific wave where s/he will appear) that the fans who will be the one actually buying the figures, get an opportunity to vote on which costume they wish to appear- with top vote gaining selections being considered for variants? Plus, what are the chances of a Flight Ring being included with Legion figures?"
We have some really cool plans for the Legion. When we do get to them, it is likely they will be in their most iconic costume for their initial release. But that does not preclude them from being re-released later in different incarnations. I wonder how far away are Legion DCUCs.
Exnihil: Novelty, if he had a power, the obvious one to me would of course be "The Power of Grayskull"

I wonder how Mattel will determine what costumes qualify as "most iconic". Based on their current obsession to complete DCUC versions of the Legion of Doom and the 1980's Super Powers line, my hunch is that they would go for Cockrum/Grell costumes - which works fine for me Hopefully we will start seeing some Legion figures announced in the waves coming in the second half of 2010.

They will probably take a vote at SDCC and then ignore it. They did that with Panthor for MOTUC.

to excerpt this quote from the link: http://blog.newsarama.com/2010/01/18/super-articulate-mattels-qa-answers-for-january/ "Blog@Newsarama: It seems like most of the big teams in the DCU have gotten some kind of representation in DCUC, including the JLA, the JSA, the Titans, the Doom Patrol, and the Metal Men. What’s the outlook like for the Outsiders and the Legion of Super-Heroes? Mattel: Both are in the works!" I am hoping to see the female Legionnaries this time - Triplicate Girl, Phantom Girl, and Dawnstar!!! pls plea please please!!! *finger crossing*

I want them all. And trip-girl better be in a three-pack or something otherwise we just KNOW they want us to shell out.

First Legion (related) action figure will be announced in this week's Toy Fare, and it's...
TYR
A bit of a letdown, because he's there due to being in the 80s Super Powers line. But Mattel says that Legion is in the works, so I'm hoping for some official news at this month's Toy Fair (not to be confused with Toy Fare).
Pics are the Fwoosh. They went more with the Super Powers look than the Cockrum design, unfortunately.
I'm guessing a C&C of Colossal Boy may be ours in early 2011...sigh.

I'll be getting Tyr pretty much no matter what he looks like. Cannot wait to see the Legion though.
My choices would be:
Cosmic Boy Lightning Lad Saturn Girl Dawnstar Wildfire (2 versions of him, as they usually do 2 versions of at least 1 fcharacter) Ultra Boy (Personal request) Emerald Empress
and for the Build a figure:Validus
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

They're doing him because he was in Super Powers...no other reason. They have been going through all the characters from that line slowly. Even doing variants of several Kirby characters to represent their Super Powers designs. (Mantis being one of them)
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

More news from ToyFare. Mattel will have a very big DC 75th anniversary presence at the San Diego Comic Con in July. They will have some "really amazing exclusives for the brand" which they probably announce in April. "As well as one of the most demanded subsets of the DC Universe - The Legion of Super-Heroes. We definitely have something really big in mind to celebrate the heroes of the 31st century, we're just not ready to announce them yet." So maybe we'll actually see a Legionnaire by the end of 2010? If not, certainly in 2011.

Seeing the word "exclusive" strikes fear to my very collecting core. Online and con exclusives are both nightmares to deal with, especially con exclusives (eg Wonder Twins and Gleek). It'll probably be a con exclusive, so I guess that means I don't need to clear shelf space.

Nah. I doubt they'll be con exclusives, but I can see Matty.com having some Legion exclusives.
I do hope we see some Legionnaires in the C&C's though. I want to see Colossal Boy announced as a C&C this Summer.

Michael over at the Omnicom has a story about the Tyr figure, with the following picture: Just behind Hourman there appears to be someone else from the 30th Century...
