Since Aquaman is one of my favorite characters, I'm a big fan of the Aquaman Shrine blog. Today, the Webmaster interviews J. Michael Straczynski, who's writing the new "The Brave & the Bold," who drops this little tidbit:

AMS: When you started writing the Brave and the Bold stories, did you have a list of characters you wanted to work into a story?

JMS: Yes, and Aquaman was right toward the top of the list, which is why he's there fairly early in the run. Some of the other, still-forthcoming team-ups I presented to DC included Atom and the Joker, Adam Strange and Lois Lane, Green Lantern/Dr. Fate, The Legion of Superheroes and the Doom Patrol.

Cool!

<swoon> As if I couldn't already love this book enough.

In only 2 issues JMS has made Brave & Bold one of DC's best books and now seeing what he has coming up...

Adam Strange and Lois Lane?!?
The Legion and the Doom Patrol?!?

... I think I need to go lie down! I want those books now!

I can't believe I'm even looking forward to a Joker story but it will probably be fun seeing the Atom interact with him.

People need to start buying this book. It's that good!

Yes, it is that good. Blacula is dead-right; in 2 issues, JMS has reminded me that comics can be just plain excellent without all the fanfare of crossovers, twists, shocks and surprises.

I so hope he gets to do all of those team-ups. Has the Legion ever teamed with the DP before? That will be pretty damn cool! I know we've done that in threads on LW. laugh

The reasoning behind some of those match-ups escapes me, which is why he's a great story teller and I'm a reader.

I wonder which era/version of the Legion will be appearing? JMS doesn't seem particularly beholden to any sort of continuity in this book so the team really could be from anywhen.

I'd say the reboot and threeboot teams have zero chance (even though the threeboot team have already appeared in this book and it's going to mean a weird continuity headache for that poor reader who's just following this book and has no idea what's been going on with the Legion's own continuity! lol ).

My secret hope is that it's the Adventure-era squad (mainly because I can just not get enough of those outfits) but I think it's probably going to be the late 70s/early 80s era team. Just a feeling.

You know... what would really be an interesting is a Doom Patrol/Heroes of Lallor team-up.

The HoL is kind of the DP of the 31st century, in a way.

I would freakin' LOVE a Doom Patrol/Heroes of Lallor teamup!

I'm not so crazy about Legion of Substitute Heroes/Inferior Five. I just don't think about the subs that way, except for jokes on a thread.
