I'm on the verge of thinking this is a borderline insult to those characters. I really liked the way we were introduced to Glorith in the Academy arc. And I'm hoping Li is meant to serve a supporting role in the Legion. Like Rond Vidar used to. In a book with such a large cast, invariably some older characters are going to be out of the picture for extended periods. I'm not always crazy about who gets in and who doesn't, either. But it's inevitable. And if I were writing/drawing a book, I wouldn't want to be limited to only using characters that were created ten, twenty, or even more years ago. Especially if I hadn't had any part of their creation.

This would be my ideal Legion line-up:
1. Saturn Girl 12. Shrinking Violet 2. Lightning Lad 13. Matter-Eater Lad 3. Cosmic Boy 14. Star Boy 4. Duplicate Girl 15. Dream Girl 5. Phantom Girl 16. Ultra Boy 6. Lightning Lass 17. Princess Projectra 7. Bouncing Boy 18. Mon-el 8. Sun Boy 19. Shadow Lass 9. Brainiac-5 20. Element Lad 10. Colossal Boy 11. Chameleon Boy
Comet Queen is the most annoying character in comics and does not belong in the Legion. The two other Academy grads are OK, but I would rather see established characters featured.

I wonder if these subgroups are on actual missions, or if Mon-el is trying to choose teams? The first group is very well balanced and make sense. (Invisibility, Size-Shifting, Elemental (Metal), and Elemental (Lightning). However, the second grouping is almost all Elementals. The third screen feels like an 'others' group.
In defense of Comet Queen, I have to say she comes in handy as a Flying Brick/Elemental. She may be a fangirl, but that makes her interesting. I hope her knack for crack pairing continues.

I could rattle off at least a dozen characters who I find infinitely more annoying than Comet Queen, if only because they're wayyyyyyy overexposed. But to each their own. I'd like to see her become more competent and less obsessed with BB, but not turn all dark and brooding in the process. Comics has more than enough dark and brooding, frankly.

I really have no problem with Comet Queen gaining membership. I think she's more interesting than some of the other Academy students and that includes some of the recent grads. Of the four new members, it's only Glorith that I really don't care for, but I am interested to see what Levitz does with her.
By the way, I really love the art in this. I think it's really beautiful.

Overexposure does not equate to annoyance. Comet Queen is an outdated 1980's creation with a passe Valley Girl way of speaking. She is a sub par character and definitely a silly excuse for a superhero. Poor Paul Levitz is really not very skilled at creating new characters. There's a reason heroes like Duo Damsel have survived for over 40 years and why non-starters like Comet Queen only surface when Levitz is at the helm.

I like Comet Queen because she shows that Levitz is capable of writing a character with a very unique and (to some, like me) humorous 'voice'.
Her uniqueness is refreshing to me.

There's other characters I'd prefer to see, but Comet Queen is definitely a trade up from Earth Man.

Never been a huge fan of Comet Queen, but not gonna stop me from enjoying a Legion book. Now a solo series with her...not sure if I could take that. Just never warmed to the Valley Girl thing...even with real life girls back in the '80's. Yet, oddly enough, I liked Square Pegs.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Her uniqueness is refreshing to me. Yup. While I'm old enough to remember the Valley Girl craze, I think the character stands on her own enough without having to focus on her cultural antecedents constantly.

I agree. The general humorous, but growing, airhead qualities of Comet Queen transcend the Valley Girl era. Her origin cracks me up. I just love that she wanted to gain super powers so bad that she purposely dove into a comet's tail. It's a great twist on the concept of gaining super powers accidently by unbelievable means.

I'm not happy about Comet Queen joining the regular team either, but I'm not as angry as I thought I'd be either! Here's her chance to impress the hell out of us. Let's see what she does. <If they tone down the whole valley girl lingo thing it would make life much easier on us, and the writers too I think.> The art is slick and futuristic (which this book needs) and I'm ok from what I see of this one page ... too soon to pass judgement on the man yet. I am a fan of Portella's work anyways so I am definitely along for the ride. The whole team looks so upset. I guess the lost Legionnaires are already gone!? Oh well, I am already getting excited with this "new" book's release in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!

They'll have to make Comet Queen heroic for me to warm up to her at all. All she's done so far (in this series) is get whacked by Saturn Queen and otherwise act like a genial airhead.

I'm sure with Paul at the helm we'll see lots of heroic stuff from her. I just want to see her turn into a "real" person in the new book (brand new start) and have us readers be wowed by her transformation from braindead valley to thinking, experienced heroine.

I thought she did a good job of getting Glorith through that maze at the Academy.
And I thought that Paul changed her speech pattern from 'valley girl' to something more current, something like what a lot of the kids speak in nowadays. Or a futuristic version, anyway. I've heard a number of dialects in the schools, on the news and in shows, over the past few years. I don't find her current words dated, just rather cryptic.

I would much rather see Blok and Mysa back on the team, rather than Teen Glorith and Hormonali. But then, I still want Mon-El and Shady back together where they belong, so who am I? Oh, and I wouldn't mind seeing Power Boy and his boyfriend Gravity Kid on the team

say, have anyone seen this video yet? http://www.newsarama.com/common/media/video/player.php?aid=44124 right now I am trying to find one on Legion Lost...but found another one with the interview with Paul Levitz while searching. 6:38 minutes long. Hmmm.
