I guess I'll have to partly withdraw my remark about the costumes. Almost all of the bad costumes were actually used in Legion of Three Worlds, including Dawnstar and all the tank tops (though that doesn't explain Tyroc).

I get my issue tomorrow! I'm so excited!
Everyone's comments make the need to read it myself almost unbearable!

A much better issue than the first. While it still bugs me that the book feels far more retro than a series about the future has a right to be, both Levitz and Cinar/Portela have found their feet rather quickly, which I appreciate. All in all, good news for those who appreciate Levitz's original run.
* Given the quickness, predictability, and inevitablity of the "Earth-Man's flight ring subplot" I'm not sure we needed as much panel-time as it has gotten.
* Set, I think that thing you've described as hair or a wraparaound is just funky shading.
* Protesters waving handmade, ink and paper signs (with tape!)? How 20th/21st century. I realize its a visual shortcut, and that such a detail may have been more acceptable in the 80's stories that this series sets out emulate, but given the great strides made in comunication in the time since then and in the absense of supplementary background elements it just feels weird to have a writer (or artist) resort to this.

Hee hee I guess with everyone looking at Tyroc's lack of hair and wondering how his voice can work in airless space, everyone missed Seeing Yera aka Chamelon Girl on page 9, panels 1,2 & 6 (especially 6)

Well, here's another long-time reader's thoughts on issue #2 ... loved it!
Paul Levitz is truely amazing. He comes back after such a long break from writing the Legion and has managed to repair my faith in the future of this comic in just two issues. Let me tell you, noone in the comic-writing business could do that in this day and age. I enjoy his soap opera storytelling style very much and, no I don't want each and every single plot thread wrapped up one issue at a time. That's so 70's in my opinion. Sure the odd stand alone issue is fine from time to time, but for me I enjoy a gradual monthly glimpse into the day-to-day lives of the Legionnaires. This builds excitement and makes the climax of the story worth waiting for. Mr. Levitz has built a strong reputation over the decades as a master of this style. Plus we know he's not one of those writers that takes his time resolving plotlines ... he actually has proven that he resolves hanging threads quite quickly by today's comic writing standards. I bet this hasn't changed for him. Let's give the man a chance to show us why he's a legend in the comic field, ok?
Some stand out moments for me:
Is it a coincidence that Saturn Queen shows up to "play" with some Legionnaires shortly after Mekt's whole "I have a missing twin" confession to Garth, which appears to be all a hoax? I don't think so. Yes it's seems logical that SQ would go to Titan's location after the destruction, but I don't think she did it out of nostalgia. I think she knew where to go to find Legionnaires without having to go to their front door to do so and did what she did to test the Legion's strengths these days. A possible LSV attack in the near future? I think so.
Dream Girl's back ... it is great to see her again. I'm sure all the explanations as to where these missing Legionnaires have been will be rolled out in due time.
What's up with Gates? I didn't appreciate his acerbic cynicism, especially during the refugees' time of need. It was out of character for him. He was never the warmest and fuzziest of the reboot Legion but he did have a lot of likable qualities (such as his intellect and sense of duty). Maybe he's having a hard time adjusting to this new reality?
I like the interchange between Garth and Ayla, especially the caring kiss on the cheek. I guess seeing how the other Legion twins got along in Lo3W must have had a long-lasting effect on them, well on Ayla anyway.
I am going to say for the record that I think the Legion Of Super-Villains is behind the kidnapping of Imra and Garth's children. For what purpose, I'm not 100% sure at this point.
I too despised how Jo was portrayed as a bit of a dim wit. I didn't realize Paul felt that way about him (given the serious storylines he'd given him back in 80's). Maybe Paul's judgement has been blurred but Ultra Boy's portrayal in 3Boot Legion, where yeah he was a bit of a dumb jock.
I really believe that Earthman will not turn out to be the new permanent Green Lantern. I bet he screws it up somehow and someone else has to step in and fix things ... just a gut feeling. I am intrigued now though about his particular plot.
All in all an excellent second issue. Thank you Mr. Levitz. It was a great read (despite having to look at Tyroc's hideous new costume ... ok sorry that was my last ding at him), and I anxiously look forward to the next issue.

Heck remember he did it when they were setting those people who were held captive by Ra's Ah Ghul in those cells.

What Levitz seems to have done is embraced Tyroc and given us a good idea of what his powers and possible limitations might be. Writers in the past, including Levitz, have fallen victim to the Chemical King syndrom: feeling obligated to include him occationally, but scared to utilize him. With #2 Tyroc has for the first time been written with confidence and purpose. Paul, my thanks to you and my hat is certainly off. Nightcrawler, I, too, would have loved a big return moment for the Espionage Squad, which should have included Dream Girl and Tyroc. It doesn't look like we will see it in "Adventure", so maybe in some future issue Mr Levitz will grce us with an Untold Tale of the Legion. Perhaps it would even cover the strange appearance of a Karate Kid and Una who died of some unexpained virus, or another Karate Kid's resurrection, death, and brief replacement by Myg. No, at this point I think I am asking too much of even Levitz' considerable skills.

I read Legion Of Super-heroes v6 02. Very good episode! It's nice to see Dream Girl and Tyroc back for good. And the spionage squad again in they correct era. I wait to see soon Jeckie, Tenzil, Thom, Ganglios, Quislet and Jam (I hope in the number 3), and Violet, Timber Wolf, Duplicate Damsel, Bouncing Boy, Black Witch & Blok. I presume that Mon-El will disappear in a time, for his chat with Jo. I like the new look of Jacques, without the gray hair. Saturn Queen does honor to her name. Shaddy and Tinya friendship intact. Good things...in the near future.
From UK with glamour.

I agree with you EE, it is definately nice to see that Tinya and Tasmia have remained good friends through all these passed years. It's like Paul Levitz just picked up where he left off with their friendship. It's a nice feeling of continuity.

an enjoyable issue #2. wow, i couldn't believe how much better the art was in the second half of the book with the second inker, Francis Portela. is he the inker from R.E.B.E.L.S.? please make him a regular. Faucher is ok, but his heavy ink brush style looks a little clunky and awkward. Portela streamlines Cinar's pencils into a futuristic sheen.
Saturn Queen's motivations seemed a little lame. hopefully there is more to come. LSV where are you?
10,000 refugees really aren't very many. hard to believe that there's not room in the whole UP, especially with their marketable telepathy skills.
Brainy is still having a Vril moment. hopefully Levitz has a reason for this characterization. maybe that face to face with original Brainiac gave him a "virus"? a lead up to a new Computo?
nice to see Tyroc given some respect by this book, but wish he was more recognizable. should've kept the white at least.
Dream Girl? i thought we were supposed to be seeing her captured again, according to Johns' Adventure peek at coming attractions. did that get dropped?
I thought it was funny that Dawnstar was unnerved by Gates' teleporting power.
i agree with the poster who said it's not a very futuristic book. those protest signs were really unforgivable. in that era it'd be harder to find tape and cardboard and art supplies, then to make a personal holo-projection. hello?
what's coming up in future issues? the Earth-Man as GL arc, maybe LSV. regardless it actually feels like there's a plan behind the book and the characters. and it's been too long since it felt that way. welcome back Paul! the kids missed you.

Gates!! You know it wasn’t until the little bug turned up here that I realised just how much I missed him and his acerbic comments on everything. I like the way this legion seem comfortable with each other and their powers, knowing what they can expect from their team mates and with various friendships, work relationships, and family ties.
I could emphasize with Garth jetting off, dropping everything he thought was important because his family was in trouble.
I was surprised at how effective Earthman “borrowing” Gim’s powers to control the crowd was. That was almost a Legion way to deal with things especially if people didn’t know his history.
I also liked how Paul showed that being a legionnaire is dangerous and can have personal repercussions without it having to be a major event. I mean PG is hit by a rock and we see the effects of that, it takes her out of circulation for a while and allows us to see just how Jo loves her as it is only when he meets her and “shuts down” rather that hurt her.

How's that?

Part of being able to find anything, I've always thought, meant that Dawny always had an instinctive sense of where she was, in regards to the universe in general. Being teleported must be terribly disorienting to that sense of place, like having the sounds of soothing familiar music jarringly replaced with clashing unfamiliar noise, as she 'sorts it all out' and figures out exactly where she is in the universe again.

So I just got issue 2 (yay!).
Random thoughts;
Saturn Queen is a Buddhist? Cool!
Ah, another pair of Winathian identical twins (hello, nurse(es)!), and, qu'elle surprise, they are the same gender. Something else else's hinky about that entire family, not just Mekt...
I like the little kiss Ayla gives Garth, and the whole scene, really. Garth seems to have his priorities nicely in order and isn't acting crazy or anything.
It was nice to see Shady and Tinya being friendly, but I wasn't in love with the idea that the girls were 'too careless' and 'the boys cleaned up the situation.' It was already contrived for Tinya to get clocked, considering she's only vulnerable if she chooses to be. Invisible Jacque was in far more danger, since they just had to aim at the floating non-invisible blaster...
Shady's cloak is drawn interestingly, fading out in a patchy blur rather than having clean lines, suggesting that it's a darkness construct and not actual cloth.

Originally posted by Chief Taylor: Oddly enough, the dialogue suggested the blaster was invisible, though the art showed otherwise. Yeah, that did seem a little off. It might have been a trick of perspective, with Jacques taking it high and behind the holder, so that even if he glanced up a little he might have missed it, but it was unclear. Personally, I think Jacques should be able to make objects he carries invisible. However, I can't recall if that's ever been shown to be the case, either with him or Lyle. They've always been able to at least make their clothes and flight rings invisible, so it makes sense that they can affect at least some objects within their grasp. On the other hand, perhaps it's a 'turn off, turn on' thing, so it doesn't necessarily effect an item that is picked up, unless he turns visible, and then turns invisible again while holding it? Being a chemical formula, it shouldn't affect his clothes anyway (and he's been shown affecting non-uniform clothing as well, so there isn't a 'specially treated clothing / unstable molecules' clause here), so, like most comic book things, it kinda works 'cause it works.

Reboot Lyle could make objects a few feet or yards away from him invisible without touching them, with great concentration. He did that to the Persuader's axe once. And he could turn other people invisible if he was holding them.
Not sure if that's of any consequence where this reality's dead Lyle is concerned.
