Since I know absolutely nothing about card collecting, can someone explain to me when/where these will be available and about how much would it cost to buy one of those boxes. Thanks!

Michael posted about them over at the Omnicom quite a while back (I never got around to an update at the Clubhouse).

Gary, eBay is your best bet. After pricing it around the 'net I found this auction had the best price, even with nearly $10 for shipping. Its where I ordered my box from.

The set isn't released yet. Won't be until mid- to late-December, possibly January according to Michael's last post on the subject . He also mentions a site that has the cards for only $52 per box with $7.00 shipping. I didn't get this site to come up with a regular search but unless you have a re-sale tax cert you can't order from him.

That Dream Girl is by an artist named Stuart Sayger, who I met at this year's Dragon*Con.

He had some samples with him. I saw that Dream Girl, an Umbra (boy, the gears of commerce shift slowly), and Emerald Empress. He does really good, atmospheric stuff, and seemed like a nice guy to boot.

There are also a few Previews in inquest magazine. They were XS, Time Trapper, No Match for Darkseid and Superboy.

It also had a 2 page article.

Hmmm.... something collectible, thus, able to exploit my weakness. (That's right, collectibles are Awkward Pause Boy's kryptonite.) But looking awfully reboot-based, so I may want to ignore them.

i've been debating whether to buy a box. i wonder - should people be able to get a whole set from one box? i guess this is more a card game than a trading card series though but if i start it, i'll probably be locked in completist hell frown

Kev, you stand a good chance to get most of the cards but not all the rares. Then there's the special ones they'll be giving away during the sneak preview event next weekend where you have to play at a store or win a tournament. I'll be shelling out on eBay to get a full set since none of the game stores here seem to bother with Vs. events.

Damn! Now I've only got a week to find a store that's holding a preview tournament and to learn the game. Found this info today on a blog :

Quote
VS System DC Legion of Super Heroes Sneak Previews Dec. 2nd!

Sneak Previews are your first chance to see the newest Vs. System cards weeks before they're available for sale! These tournaments use the exciting Sealed Pack format, where each player gets five packs of the new set and builds a deck with 30 or more cards. You'll get to keep all of the cards that you play with at the Sneak Preview, plus you'll get a set of two exclusive foil Extended Art promo card "stackers."

Format:
Sealed Pack. Each player will receive five packs of Legion of Super Heroes to build their decks. The tournament will be run straight swiss with the number of rounds based on attendance. Additonal flights will be run based on player interest.

Prizes:
Prizes TBA, but will include Legion of Super Heroes product, foil promotional cards, deck tins, playmats and more!

At every Sneak Preview, players will also get a chance to win brand new playmats and deck boxes, both featuring art from the new set. Each location will have a number of these prizes for the top finishers, as well as a second Extended Art promo card.

And here's the most exciting part: Each Sneak Preview will also be giving away more deck boxes and playmats as door prizes for players in the first tournament of the day! So even if you haven't played in a tournament before, you can still win just by showing up.

Players in the first tournament of each day can get Vs. System t-shirts, and have the best chance of winning the new playmats and deck boxes.

Look for more details on prizes closer to the event!
These are the playmats and t-shirt being given away:

I just found a thread where the poster says his scans are from the Inquest preview.

And the previews keep coming. One from a Yahoo Group (courtesy of Michael at the Omnicom ) and the other today's scheduled one from Metagame.com . Kind of a theme with two of Darkseid's minions.

But the one I find the most interesting is the sneak look at the art for tomorrow's card:

Looks too me like Charlie Sheen won the role of Rokk, the Time Trapper.

Guess I should have figured it was Cosmic King, especially since they had already done a Time Trapper card. But I don't get why Superboy (Superman?) is behind him.

BTW, a list of the U.S. and international locations for the sneak preview can be found here . Of course none of them are being held in UT.

Its weird how totally derived from the DnA era of the Legion these cards seem to be. And not the good DnA Legion either.

I'd be interested in getting these cards and playing this game, and if they were from any other period of the reboot I probably would (well maybe not PMS), but who'd want to be reminded of how badly the reboot Legion went out with those Dark Firestorm and Fatal Five Hundred and etc cards?

I, too, am disappointed at the choice of the version of the Legion being used (really, can the game have been in development that long?) but it is a Legion collectible and I'm already spending money on it.

One more preview for today, Chain Lightning, courtesy of Pojo.com .

I lied. Found another late preview. The Legion Headquarters. I wonder who Rokk is running from. Maybe he's scared of pigeons.
