I'm still wondering about this. Cham's father is dead, so maybe his return to the team isn't actually permanent. He might get called away to take his father's place... [snip] Originally posted by Gorilla Nebula: ...that's not Shadow Lass. see how she flirts with Brainy? it's Yera...
Uh, canonically, Shady had a crush on Brainy before she paired off with Mon-El. She was sometimes protective of him, too. Particularly when he was close to having another meltdown over not knowing who Sensor Girl was. You could be right about it not being Shady, but her behavior towards Brainy in #4 isn't out of character, to me.

Did Yera go back to acting after she married Gim?

Maybe this really is going to end with the two of them in bed. Maybe not. Either way, Shady had (I presume) already split up with Lar, so she couldn't actually have "given Lar up for EM." Also, y'know... I like Lar. But IRL, it usually takes two people to make a relationship fail. So maybe that was the case here as well. Shady herself hasn't said anything about the demise of the partnership, has she? We only have Lar's side of the story so far.

No, Shady has not said anything about their breakup so far. That's what's so strange and out of character about this situation ... we haven't even seen her going to Phantom Girl for advice or anything. Instead she's spending time with Earth Man!? Very weird.

What's cute about that, is it's kind of a case of 'I know that you know that I know...' Shady *knows* that flirting with Brainy will get her exactly nowhere. Shady *knows* that Brainy would expect that sort of nonsense anyway, and that if she plays right into his (low)expectations, he might underestimate her... She's gotta be totally attempting to game him, since she can't possibly think that stroking his chin is gonna make him all weak at the knees and prone to babbling whatever she wants to know. It's up for grabs whether he falls for that sort of thing. He is a zillion times smarter than the average dude, but he's also socially inept.

I think you're reading way too much into the scene and giving the author too much credit. I seriously doubt he's put that much thought into that one scene.

That issue 4 may be my favorite of the Five Year Gap issues. That Mon-El cover...him beating a weakened Trapper...awesome! I like the Giffen cover better but it's a nice homage.

Also, I prefer the old Violet costume, though I agree there should be some purple in it. Yes, Shrinking Violet is probably named after the term for a shy female (whether it's becasue she really is shy, or it has become an ironic nickname, since she's not shy) but I like the double entendres withinh this name. She may be a "shrinking violet" but she also literally shrinks. It would also be anice nod to double entedreism if her costume actually had some voilet in it.

I think the Legion girls were originally designed to each wear a different color, but since Triplicate Girl and Shrinking Violet were introduced in the same story, it would've seemed more logical to put TG in green and Vi in violet. A bit late to second guess that now though.

Hmm... if Lu's colors had been orange and green, the whole Pasnic story would've become a metaphor for Ireland...

8 pages and hardly anyone's talking about the fact that Saturn Girl killed that guy? Or did she? What happened there? Such a weird ending to the fight - and that whole storyline. Talk about abrupt. Unless there really is more to come for it.
I'm surprised at all the praise for this issue. It was definitely the weakest of the run so far IMO. The Ranzz storyline had a couple of nice character moments but was otherwise a whole heap of nothing. And all the rest of it was set-up (which can often be very interesting but missed the mark here).
And to top it all off, most of the interesting members seem to have quit off-panel! That's a real shame.
Still, the Legion leader election page was exciting.
Plea to my fellow readers -
PLEASE VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO a) HASN"T BEEN LEADER BEFORE; OR b) IS NOT A PANEL-HOG!
LET'S SEE SOMEONE NEW & INTERESTING IN THE JOB!
Personally, I'm hoping Tyroc, Tellus, Invisible Kid, Shrinking Violet or Shadow Lass win the spot.

^ Into becoming ash?
Forgot to mention my other gripe about this issue - all the sudden blonde Legionnaires - Garth, Ayla and Dirk have all gone from red to blonde and Nura and Jeckie have gone from white to blonde. Boo. Learn where the rest of your coloured pencils are please Mr or Ms Colourist.
Who is the penciller/inker who did the earlier Earth Man pages by the way? I really like that style. I wish that artist was the main artist on this book and whoever is drawing the rest was the back-up - though I am quite liking their efforts too.

That was some pretty awful visual storytelling, if she *wasn't* meant to have killed the dude. We see his magic dagger disintegrate, and his own body either turn to ash, or all covered with ash, in either case not something we'd expect to happen with a telepathic assault. Now, if her telepathic assault caused whatever magic he was using to go out of control, that could make sense, and the magic could have caused the ashy appearance / disintegration of the dagger, but the page sure failed to show that...

The page did not entirely make it clear but I think it was supposed to remind us of the way the Servants crumbled in GDS or something like that.
Quite how Imra powers would have caused that to happen I have no idea unless just the image of Darkseid is enough to invoke the power of Darkseid which is what caused it to happen?
But that would be silly so it cannot be that.

That could become a standard Imra trick! Project Darkseid at the bad guys and watch 'em crumble!

Quick question...I know the planet Avalon is a magic medieval style planet...but I forgot how I know that.
When have we seen them before?

Mordru went there after Earth War; the Legion later buried him there. Avalon was also seen at the start of the Great Darkness Saga.

Aha! Thanks FC. I just read Earth War a couple of years ago...couldn't remember. I knew we saw a few medeival-magic worlds in the Legion past and I sometimes get them confused.

Didn't Dawny and Brainiac-5 also get temporarily stranded there at some point, or was that some other low-tech medevil planet? In fact, I seem to faintly recall that she was highly attracted to a guy that she met there.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.
