I could see Night Girl and Yera being emergency members during the whole Justice League Crisis, although precedent usually has those kind of "Join on the fly" members sticking around.
It's possible Night Girl left once things settled down after Lo3W, especially if she and Cos are on the outs as speculated.
Another possibility is that the espionage Squad could be on a separate roster completely now.

I'd kinda love if they did that sort of thing, and had not just an Espionage Squad, but a designated Diplomacy / PR Squad, a designated 'Damage Control / clean-up Squad, etc. (Ultra Boy and Colossal Boy pretty much always end up on clean-up duty, it seems. Might as well make it official!)

It's a very bad move to remove Tenzil of the group. All the old fans are waiting to see for all our favorite characters unite again. If Paul Levitz does not like Tenzil, since that uses it little but that it does not extract it of traffic without explanation. This does remember me when removed the charcter of Amanda in Dynasty and nevermore they declared his name .I wait do not do the same thing with Luornu, Chuck and Lydda. The one that it might have removed or killed without disgust for me is Chameleon Girl. And still no signs of Salu, Jenni and Thom. Jeckie are beautiful in blonde hair. The girls change the color hair sometimes....is natural.

I liked the issue. While I like the art I still see him playing with angles and panels...felt awkward sometimes....but some panels looked fantastic.
You know I've heard some people complain about Darkseid...that it was anti-climatic. But I disagree...Paul needs to throw the kitchen sink at new readers. That is the complaint some of us have about Adventure...(even though the Imra/Cos panels felt like a kitchen sink flew by my head).
I am glad Darkseid is involved in some way. That guy invoking him was a bit generic though...villains need definition and better visuals right off the bat.
I still can't wait to read the next issue. (Yes I was suprised Matter Eater Lad is gone so soon...but think new readers...as a teen i always cringed at his name until I got older and started enjoying the old Legion issues).

Well another good issue..I do agree the Darkseid thing was resolved a little fast and was anti climatic. As far as everything else we are only 4 issues in and everything cannot be resolved in a matter a issues...and who would want it to be?
I agree about a quick read..I would like the return of En. Galatica or some background info..comics used to have so much more to read in them...or how bout what has gone on before bubbles.
I too can't wait to see Violet as well as Thom..you can have XS..yuk
Projectra looked beautiful! Always one of my fav's miss her white short curly hair...it really set her apart from all the other girls in the past. Let's just be glad to have the real Jeckie back..written by Paul...she could be a big rattlesnake with fake arms from a world of snakes and racoons..or was it chipmunks?
Hmmmm...I will take our Projectra!

It's a shame about Tenzil. I was really hoping he'd be a part of the team again. The search for the twins story ended a little quickly, but it was a good read. I have lots of questions about some of the Legionnaires that haven't been seen yet, but I trust that Paul will clear it all up soon.

There are always debates about characters' use of telepathic powers, but it seemed to me that Imra was using Jeckie's power in this issue (the Darkseid illusion) and Jeckie, if she was using any powers at all, was listening to people's thoughts.
And with Earth-Man's power, it seems like the Legion is one big power-swapping group. It's the future of social networking.

Actually, I think Jeckie was listening to people's actual conversations. An ability from her Sensor Girl power upgrade.

Regarding the membership: It's not quite as easy for me as it is for Ken to decipher the symbols. Some are covered and some are a bit fuzzy in my mind. Here's what I come up with for the 26 active members:
1. Bainiac 5 2. Chameleon Boy 3. Colossal Boy 4. Cosmic Boy 5. Dawnstar 6. Dream Girl 7. Earth Man 8. Element Lad 9. Gates 10. Invisible Kid 11. Lightning Lad 12. Lightning Lass 13. Mon-El 14. Phantom Girl 15. Polar Boy 16. Quislet 17. Saturn Girl 18. Sensor Girl 19. Shadow Lass 20. Shrinking Violet 21. Sun Boy 22. Tellus 23. Timber Wolf 24. Tyroc 25. Ultra Boy 26. Wildfire
Is that the consensus here?

bought my first variant cover. i mean intentionally, in addition to the regular one. hmm i think this is the first time i bought any comic for a collection rather than to read. it was the homage WITH THE (5yg) LOGO that put me over the top. i mean ... the LOGO!! haha

Great issue! My favorite of the new series so far. Wonderful rapport btwn Imra, Garth & Ayla- like a well-oiled machine. Bringing the refugees to Naltor was inspired. Blending precogs & telepaths should yield some interesting results. The fact that the xenophobic group is so ethnically diverse is a clever touch. Sodam Yat needs to stop his sobbing! How long can one stand around a barren planet & lament? A really long time it seems. I'm sorry to see Tenzil go, especially so abruptly. Brainy's anti-social as usual, but at least he dialed down the crazy! I'm fascinated by Tasmia's shady behavior. Can't wait to see what she's up to. Jecky needs to lose the mask & tiara now! At least she was written interestingly. Good to see Harmonia Li again, & it was cool how the high seer sensed the power within her. I can't tell whether she'll turn hero or villain. Finally, Nura's hair should be platinum! Paul, please let the colorist know. No gold or yellow highlights ever!!

Some have said this was a quick read, but I thought it was meatier than we've had so far in this series.
I too was disappointed at ME Lad's off panel dismissal.
I refuse to believe that Shady would ditch Mon-El, the ultimate hero/demigod/he-man for no apparent reason and then throw herself at a self-proclaimed racist/megalomaniac/scumbag like Earth Man. There better be more to this than meets the eye or I'll be screaming for somebody's head.
Can we get rid of Some Damn Yutz and his little blue Smurf buddy already? Ugh. At least make him wipe his nose and get on with rebuilding the corps. if we must suffer his presence.
Does Dream Girl have to strike a sex pot pose in every panel? Her beauty should be treated the same as Tyroc's race. It's a simple fact, not a personality trait. Still, at least we got to see her, I guess I should be grateful for that.
Ayla rocks. Nice to see her shine instead of Garth for once. I thought Imra was rather inept at finding the twins. Some consistency in her abilities would be nice.
What happened to the Darkseid groupy exactly? It looked like he crumbled to dust a la Buffy's vampire victims, but I don't see why that would happen, just from seeing an illusion of Darkseid.

I'm a little disappointed with this issue, actually, though in a way it flowed better than the previous three. The main reason I'm disappointed is because there wasn't enough of an explanation about the twins and what the unnamed (?) Darkseid worshipper wanted with them. In a nutshell I wanted Garridan's connection to Validus at least mentioned at some point. I thought Paul was going to clarify here that Darkseid's curse is still in-continuity. Yeah, yeah...to a degree you've gotta infer that it is in-continuity. Otherwise, why bother being Darkseid cultists and kidnapping the Ranzz twins, right? My problem is, if I'm one of these fabled new readers, I'm scratching my head and saying, "what in hell did Darkseid have to do with those kids?" I guess Paul approached this as new reader friendliness with one of those winks or "Easter eggs" for old-school readers he's mentioned in interviews. In this case I think the curse is crucial to making this story work, rather than being an Easter egg. Are expository flashbacks or dialogue balloons so out of fashion in comics these days that not even one frickin' panel could either be spared for just a little background info? By leaving out any mention of the curse or of Validus, it leaves the door open for what I think is an unnecessary continuity revision. There's even a bit of dialogue where Imra ponders what either Darkseid or the cultists could ever want with her children! Shouldn't she have a decent idea? I don't consider myself one of LW's Kontinuity Kops, but this seems odd given the past stories and this one obviously being meant to evoke them. Is it possible Garth and Imra's memories were cleansed completely of what they learned of Validus and his connection to their son? If so, who did it? If it's neither and Paul is completely changing things up, then why have the twins kidnapped and have all this cloak and dagger around what happened? Unnamed bad guy says the twins were "touched by our lord", so what the hell? I think it's likely that Paul is building a larger story possibly culminating in Darkseid's return, and this story is meant to plant the seeds. But the vagueness and lack of clarity surrounding the twins, Validus and what, if anything, is different from how we remember it is a bit frustrating. The other continuity issues we've had have been inconsequential to me, but with a story being told here with such a direct connection to GDS and Darkseid's curse, the vagueness really seems to be waved in our faces for no apparent reason. Anyone see it another way? (As I said, there was actually a lot to like about this issue, but I'll have to cool down a while before I can get to those things! )
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

A solid, but not outstanding issue. The story lines are moving along at a good pace. Ayla got to show her stuff and was there for her brother and Imra. It's not as compelling as the dynamic that Shooter was developing between the twins toward the end of the 3boot, but still nice to see.
I'm not sure why everyone was being so snarky with Rokk regarding the elections. Did he do something recently to upset the team?
I agree with the complaints about Nura's and Projectra's hair color. I hope to see more of the Titaniun refugees on Naltor. Harmonia Li has my interest.
Those who are tiring of the focus on Brainy and the founders are hopefully glad to see Shadow Lass stepping into a meatier role. I was surprised to see Brainy being so frank with her about the changes he made to Earth Man's ring.

If so, Paul failed his readers by leaving that hanging, assuming he doesn't expound on that next issue.

haha I didn't even know about ANY of the Jim Lee variant covers! I need to get my head out of the clouds. I saw the covers for the first two issues online. Need to get those. I haven't seen the variant covers for #3 and #4. I know Lee is a huge fan of the Legion and Levitz so I hope down the line the two get a run together!

Yeah maybe not compared to comics 20 years ago but it was twice as long as most comics these days. Plotline by plotline
AVALON
Levitz didn't even bother to give his lame, cackling villain a name. If he doesn't care about the characters he creates, why the hell should I? Unless the Ranzz kids show up next issue with little, glowing red eyeballs, this will be the worst squandering of a Legion story buildup I've seen since Justin Thyme. I don't read the Legion for mindless head bashing. -- but that's all this plotline amounts to so far.
Garth and Ayla are "identical" in much the same way the Levitz3 Legion is "identical" to the Levitz2 Legion. NOT.
Those kids look like little male clones of Saturn Girl. Creepy.
I miss 3boot Ayla. She was the best.
I suspect the whole plotline is a ploy to shuttle the Ranzzes off-stage and back to Winath for an extended vacation. Fine with me. I don't give a squirrel's sphincter about Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad or their spawn -- and I blame Levitz for that.
MEMBERSHIP/ELECTION
I asked two months ago why the Legion hadn't dispatched Dawnstar to search for the Ranzz kids. Now I have the definitive answer -- Cosmic Boy is afraid of the United Planets AND Saturn Girl. Nice work, boss.
Gim and Dirk would naturally question Cos's leadership ability on account of Earth Man. Jeckie's a bit deeper and might see Cos's habit of compromising with the U.P. as knuckling under.
I'm not a Matter-Eater Lad fan but, man, that was brutal.
Credit where credit is due. I'm glad Levitz dumped Starman and good riddance to Yera, too. I believe XS has a new job as a cast member in one of the "Flash" spinoff books. I won’t miss her. Lydda's the only "reject" I care to see again in a major role.
I predict Gates will run for leader and lose by a mile.
NALTOR
Harmonia Li is the only interesting character in this entire issue.
Why is Beren dressed like the Time Trapper? Off to an audition, maybe?
Dream Girl looks like a Marilyn Monroe impersonator in drag. Oy.
GREEN LANTERN JUNK
I experienced actual physical pain reading the conversation between Sodomy Yuck and Dyogene. The gist of it seems to be that the new GL Corp must arise from Earth humans on the Motherworld
Sooooo ... assuming the next GL is a character we've seen in the last four issues, the likely contenders are: Colossal Boy, Sun Boy, Invisible Kid, Dawnstar (??,), Wildfire and Bouncing Boy (dare I hope?). Tyroc and Harmonia Li are in the game too, even though their Earth humanness hasn't been verified yet. Unfortunately, Earth Man could change his mind and get the ring back. (That would be a bummer.)
I vote for Bouncing Boy as the next GL. Ain’t gonna happen but a girl can hope.
EARTH MAN
The Xenos' plan to launch an attack after Earth has already deported half of the Titanian refugees doesn't make a frickin' lick of sense. Another excuse for more mindless head bashing next month.
With all the talk about genetic purity, I wouldn't be shocked if Shady got preggers.
Nah, Shady's really the female Durlan terrorist with a big butt we saw a couple of issues ago. I'm calling it now. Niedrigh's gonna freak after his one-night stand even worse than Imra did in Adv #517.
FINAL VERDICT. Not too good.

Or at least the concept of him. After all, Levitz introduced several non-humanoids into Legion contiunity.
