I would call the question as to the propper number of his arms one of those 'unsettled' issues for the new version of the Legion. Nura's hair (and she is 1 of a very small number of characters I would say this about) is an outright mistake and an insult.

If the Durlans revere Brande so much, why would they want to kill his right-hand man?

Just what the heck do these assassins think they're going to accomplish by killing all of their "idol's" associates? I hope a better explanation is coming next issue, otherwise I'm writin' an ugly letter to someone dammit! LOL

No time at the moment to discuss the story, but here are a couple of things I noticed.
Nura did indeed have platinum lipstick on the second page, but it disappeared for the rest of the story.
When Cos and Zendak are walking through the hall of deceased heroes, who is the rotund guy with mask and cape on the far right?

Yeah, I was wondering that too.
And how can Dream Girl check her nails when she's wearing gloves? What's she doing? Predicting when she takes them off?

My comic shop missed it's shipment this week... and now I'm off on holiday until the end of January - so I'm not going to be able to read this issue and find out who won the election for at least a month!
We really need a :sobbing uncontrollably: graemlin here.

I thought Colossal Boy and Dream Girl made an interesting mission pair. Hate to see Gim always getting bashed up and knocked out, but it also makes him a little more heroic to me, wanting to be in on the action even if he takes some lumps.
I'm really enjoying the background art - the variety of planet skylines and Earth locales makes the title a little more special. The art effort is very much appreciated here.
I'm also loving the writing style. Mr. Levitz still has it, and has worked up to a nice pace right now. It's refreshing that the Legion has interesting things going on without a galactic invasion occurrence every issue.

I saw the character in that panel as Lu's 3rd self. She arching her back a little and her cape is bunched by her hand at the waist.
The hair falling a little forward and the cape placement distort the image, I think.
But then, my eyesight is screwy.

I like this issue. But...it's so like the 80's Levitz Legion. I don't say these era was wonderful... But now I need a little more.... Luornu, Lydda, Tenzil, Jenni in the active roster. And Merry Christmas! Champagne For Everyone!

But then, my eyesight is screwy. I think that's supposed to be Triplicate Girl's mini skirt and boots on the figure in the foreground. I too liked the odd combination of Colossal Boy and Dream Girl in this issue. I don't recall them ever working closely together before and it's a refreshing change from the same members being paired together all the time: PG and Shady, Mon and U Boy, Drake and Dawnstar, etc. etc.

In addition to the rotund guy with mask and cape on the far right who's the guy farther to the right of him wearing a Nightwing type mask? Maybe a rereading of Legion of Three Worlds is in order.

I'm guessing the helmeted guy is Double-Header of the Legion of Substitute Heroes who was reported to have been killed by Earth-Man and his Justice League back during the Legion arc in Action Comics. There seems to be a second shadowed head and two chins visible. If not him in a costume we've not seen i have no idea.

Did I miss the Harmonia Li reveal? Also, Brainy didn't create cancellite, Brainy adapted cancellite.

One of the things I've enjoyed from Paul HAS been the mixing up of the legionnaires some by Levitz. The Dawnstar, Nura and Gates combo was pretty uncomfortable for them, which was pretty funny.
With Rokk out of leadership, does that mean he'll be able to re-establish his relationship with Lydda? I hope (but doubt).

Hey, I never noticed this before but Phantom Girl doesn't have an "L" on her belt buckle like everybody else does. Her's is a "P" like she had worn in the 60's. While I appreciate the nostalgia she's trying to put forth I must confess I think this might be why she lost any chance of winning the Legion Leader vote ..... failure to comply with established company dress code!

The one that's puzzling me: I could've sworn I read in one of the Preview pitches that it would be Cham and Yera going back to Durla, not Cham and Brainy. Dunno', though. My mind ain't what it used to be. Also, Brainy didn't create cancellite, Brainy adapted cancellite. No wonder Kara didn't rush back into his arms. Only a jerk of a paramour takes credit for somebody else's inventions.

[snip] Originally posted by Candlelight: ...And what's with Jan not seeming to give a tinkers darn about Zendak? Or is that just my take on it? I'd thought of it more as a lack of room for a ton of thought/exposition than anything else. I was more disappointed regarding Jan's thoughts about the Durlans. Doesn't sound like the EL I remember. Maybe the events in the graphic novel with EM are supposed to have "toughened him up." I'm a little queasy over all with the way Levitz is casting these people so far as "savages." Somebody "aculturated" and "civilized" tried to reach out to them but it was all in vain, because they're too innately animalistic to accept or deserve any help. But I'm hoping that it's just due to the fact that we don't have the whole story yet. Earth Man is such a one note song - all he thinks about is power. He never thinks about strategy or finesse or subtlety. Is that in line with how they wrote him in the graphic novel? I've only read bits of it online, so I can't really judge.

This is a mystery. [/b]So, there are 6 statues in the center panel: Triplicate Girl- Kid Psycho- Ferro Lad- Karate Kid- a never seen before character- Karate Kid II. Looks like it's just a touch of whimsy on the artist's part.

I think that somebody mentioned Monstress and I know that I've seen a statue of her before there, in the hall. There should be one of Zoe and Prime's Element Lad and Sun Boy, too. Originally posted by cleome: [snip]

Lo3W is by Johns but, of course the other TP is by Levitz. Or do you mean the Action stuff? That's not by Paul, either. The Levitz Kirt seems to plan things out a little EXCEPT when he's actually in a fight, imo. Then, everything is about him grabbing someone's powers and taking over. He's done it over and over and over. When he confronted the Earthers attacking the Titan refugees, he just grabbed Jan's power and started shouting. When he got the GL ring he flew to the planet in question and just started clabbering stuff. Here in this last issue, he just goes in powering up and powering up and hitting the Durlan. Anyway, that's how I see him, mostly as a shallow, one note bully.

Well then Earth Man has found his match in Shallow Lass as Shady's become quite shallow and one-note since Levitz came back to writing her. It's a shame really as she used to be one of my favourites when Paul wrote her before. Oh well.
Earth Man, to me, is a big nuisance not unlike that commercial you hate because it comes on 5 times in the first 20 minutes when you're trying to watch a show you like. You have to put up with him because he's here, like it or not (as Paul obviously likes him so much).

It is distracting and outright annoying at this point. Every woman under 40 (and a lot over 40) that I know has dyed their hair at some stage. Why shouldn't Nura feel like a change? Possibly because she is missing Thom? [/b]Doesn't a color change often accompany a style change? Would it kill them to pin their hair up on occassion? More importantly, PLATINUM/GRAY LIPSTICK! What is she 31st century Ke$ha?
So what.
