I just had a nasty thought... We know someone's gonna die in the LSV war, right? And there has been a pattern running through the current series of Colossal Boy being a colossal target for pretty much any man and his space dog... And if Gim was killed in the line of duty, that might inspire Yera to become more actively involved in the Legion.... I hope I am wrong, not only because I don't really want any of the Legion to die (except Earth-Man, him I'd be okay with), but because I think there's a lot more mileage to be had character development-wise out of Gim and Yera being separated by centuries and trying to get back together...

If you think about it, Legion Lost is basically composed entirely of relatively new members (not counting dead ones, and new member old characters) with just a few left out.
Timber Wolf's inclusion seems odd until you realize that Timber Wolf was the *last* of the 1960's Legionnaires to join. The joining order goes Timber Wolf, Wildfire, Tyroc, Dawnstar. Tellus, Yera, and Gates, of course all joined after that.

Yeah, I've been doing some stuff with the Composite Superman (whose cutoff is pre-Shooter four), and noticed that the Legion Lost group is entirely made up of Legionnaires that joined after the 'classic' group. Brin, Dawny and Drake may be old hat, chronologically, but with a compressed history of 'they've been together for five years or so', this group is pretty much all 'newbies.' Actually, with Lu working as instructor, and Rokk, Imra and Garth at least quasi-retired, I think Tinya is currently the longest-serving active Legionnaire...

I hope I am wrong... Me, too. Gim is one of my favorite characters. Hell, I don't even want to see EM die. It's wasteful and stupid, and a cheap way to keep us all debating without, y'know, actually producing an interesting story. There's a lot they could do with Yera without killing off her spouse. Though one thing I really never want to see again is both her and Cham being used as mouthpieces for the whole Well, yeah Earth kinda' sucks but my own people are like way bigger savages than any Earth person so ewwwww! That's pretty much been my least favorite thing about Levitz' return so far.

Ok, this does look promising.
And doesn't it seem Levitz has really been working on getting everyone ready for this the last few months? T-Wolf and Tyroc working together alot in the Durlan storyline and both getting a lot of attention and development in LSH. Yera showing up in the same storyline. Plus the new Academy students, which will probably make up the new recruits to fill in the gap for the missing Legionnaires. I am starting to get excited.

Ever since I saw Francis Portela's pages appear amidst Yildiray Cinar's, I've preferred Portela's art. So I'm REALLY excited to see he's the new regular artist! His pages are just so expressive and dynamic. Cinar is really talented, but Portela is a potential superstar! I'll be glad to see Portela's work on a monthly basis on my favorite characters!
(Meanwhile, I'm picking up Firestorm as well, and I've a feeling Cinar will thrive on a book with a solo/duo hero!)

I really hope that gunman at the top of the cover isn't a future Legionnaire...
...unless it's a new Soljer!
Nah, not even then.
Maybe if he pulled off his helmet for a dramatic reveal... Lyle Norg! Or Spider-Girl! Or Animal Lad! Evolvo! (Any Lallorian, really).
What are the chances of anything as pleasing (to me, anyway) as any of them?

Originally posted by lil'rhino: Gim's dead meat, kids! That's how I read it, too. For some reason, Gim has been characterized lately as a Legionnaire who has become obsolete in the new world order. That, and the fact it would give Yera much more characterization opportunity, makes him the odds-on-favorite. The Legion Lost group seems well rounded. Paul won't miss Yera, Tyroc, Gates and Tellus because he has Cham and Saturn Girl, and doesn't seem to care for Tyroc and Gates anyway. Wildfire, Dawnstar and T-Wolf were given up to give the team some Umph, but Paul has plenty of supers to make up for them (especially for a short term mini-series).

PS - I REALLY hope Colossal Boy does NOT get the ax. He is my favorite Legionnaire and has a lot of potential as the Legion's never-say-never foot soldier (he also makes the group shots look great).
My hope is that NO Legionnaire gets it.

I'd say he's given Tyroc a decent spotlight when he really didn't have to. A fair amount of characterization and build-up, as well. Gates...well, he hasn't quite gotten his voice down, but he hasn't swept him to the side like he did Tenzil. (I wonder, if the LSH is so undermanned, will Tenzil make a comeback? )

either Polar Boy or Star Boy will bite the dust....and I am leaning toward Star Boy since he may be the one who sends the Legionnaires 7 into the 21st Century with his powers going amok.
****just in Advance**** RIP Star Boy, Starman, Thom Kallor, Danny Blaine - you were one of the greatest Legionnaire and JSAer and will be greatly missed by many of us. Farewell. ****amen****

While I don't want to see Star Boy under the flag, he's at least got more of an 'out' for a return than most of the others, since he's officially spread thin across many parts of the multiverse.
Even if he 'died,' there's a lot of 'him' still out there, and if Harmonia Li succeeds in convincing Dreamy to turn off the machine that's severing that connection to the multiverse, there's a chance that he won't be 'completely dead,' just 'mostly dead.'

Me, too. That big, white guy hand is supposed to be somewhat misleading. Right? The hand shown could rather obviously be Gim or Thom, so it really shouldn't BE them. slightly , as always.

I kind of got it right away that it was Yera in the Legion Lost cover. I mean, it's kind of obvious, don't you think?
I wonder if, maybe the seven stranded in the past are also the ones everyone thinks are dead. Just a thought, and it's a long shot.
I love the way Dragonwing looks on the cover of Legion #1.

At least that could be part of the reason.

I can't help but notice that none of what we heard about Legion Lost contains the word "Earth" in it. It would be really nice for this series to be space-faring, with guest stars from the late lamented REBELS series and the recent set of sci-fi mini-series.
