speaking of which, check out the interview of Bedard's R.E.B.E.L.S. book: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=18891 the title has an awesome Billy Idol reference to boot. the team is composed of veterans Vril Dox and Strata, along with Wildstar, Tribulus, Bounder, and the Emerald Princess.

... and he says it is indeed a 21st Century book, contrary to what Previews seemed to indicate. By the way, what an awesome artist they found in Andy... Kudos to Mike Marts for getting such talent to LEGION (I refuse to accept the REBELS moniker). And it is great to see the passion of Bedard to such title. Hopefully, it will be tons better than his LSH fill-in (which was below Waid's weakest moments).

Seems to have a pretty good vision of what Dox is, that's mandatory. Googled some of the artist's work and it's fabulous. In the Rebels panels, there's a bit of Kitson and a bit of Giffen wouldn't you say?
What I really love about it, it was his idea, something he wanted to do. I'll always throw a few bucks that way. Let creative people create,...
... except Giffin because you need a few of the characters to live in order to tell the story.

i don't think it's contradicting the previews blurb. dox and rebels exists in the 21st century, but he's basing his team on people from the 31st century.
edit: oh duh i forgot, can anyone hook us up with links to some andy clarke art?
edit 2: I MEAN OTHER THE OENS IN THE ARTICLES. i mean.. past work.. type stuff..
man, the inking is NICE...!!!

I find this very odd....as they are kind of equivalent to the Fatal Five - for instance - Vril Dox - brilliance and strategist master - Tharok Emerald Princess - eye wielder - Emerald Empress Tribulus - mind lightning control? and size - Validus Wildstar - faceless and energy - Mano Strata - crystalline/diamond that can "cut" - Persuader Bounder - hmmm - no idea - ?? perhaps Caress? Flame? ehe.

Any thoughts on which Legion it will be in REBELS?
Threeboot? Johnsboot? or a post Lo3W merged Legion?

In Shooter's latest issue of LSH Dream Girl says something to B5 about him being sent to the past soon. I'm thinking that the 3-Legion might end up there. Heck Brainy-3boot might actually become Vril. [/b]I think Dream Girl was just referring to B-5s trip to the old section of Metropolis where he meets Madame M.

I would love to see some of the 'classic' stories retold and re-envisioned. It's been thirty years, many of them are extremely dated, and upgrading Computo to make it as scary and potentially apocalyptic as the Robotican menace or revisiting Mordru and making him fit better into the post-Alan Moore DC supernatural setting and less of a comical figure would be interesting. Just skip the part where every single issue has to have a bunch of people die for no good reason, which is something from the modern day that I'm not really seeing the need for.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the Adventure era stories retold by someone I trusted (the Bierbaums, for example, kind of per their original plans for the Legionnaires series).
There's actually plenty of pointless deaths in the stories for modern readers as well, just not deaths of main characters. Just ask, well, just about every prisoner in the Super-Stalag of Space.

I think I could be interested in a rewrite series with that team back together. AND if they had creative leeway to make enough changes to truly update the stories. Like no Shrinking Violet cowering in corners, etc.. New insights and characters and additional plots would be good, too.

Set, it's actually been 40 years. Don't you hate it when those decades slip away? I know I do.
Candle, does Keith Giffen ring any bells?

Did the Bierbaums write that? I don't remember that at all, but then I don't really follow the writers. It's all about the art imho.

They also worked with Jason Pearson and Stuart Immonen during 5YG. Giffen plotted a lot of that timeframe too.

I would love to see a retelling of the death and resurection of Lightning Lad because I think those stories have some wonderful themes, esp when dealing with the young and mortality. BUT, I would want to make sure those changes are done with respect to the original characters and major themes of the Legion, I would worry if someone told me updates were happening, that Garth's personality would be changed to being a brash jerk, that the Legionnaires would all be jerks or simply unheroic. Thus destroying the themes that do exist and replacing them with "modern" themes that really have nothing to do with the original Legion. Sigh, I'm really too young to be this croatchety...

[/b]Yes, Chris was the one I was thinking of. The young, crisp version was fun, with Cera and Catspaw. They were the ones that introduced Quantum Kid, too, I think. Originally posted by Omni Craig: They also worked with Jason Pearson and Stuart Immonen during 5YG. Giffen plotted a lot of that timeframe too. Okay work but not nearly so wonderful. For Immonen, I remember truly disliking the coloring, so flat and lifeless. They wrote while Giffen drew the first 5YG or they took over for Giffen later on? gads Originally posted by stephbarton: I think I could be interested in a rewrite series with that team back together. Sigh, I'm really too young to be this croatchety... Well, they were clones and the one who really changed was Garth. But, this was the Garth without the Proty resurrection. He might have been different without the change in soul. DnA portrayed Garth as different, too. I didn't necessarily like the Proty transfer to a living but empty body explanation but the idea DID explained a lot of Lightning Lad's adult problems. And Sun Boy was so featureless in the early Legion stories, so flat that ANY personality was welcome to me. I work with kids and even the heroes are brash and selfinvolved and often heartless. They're kids. I just liked to see them as such. I'm sorry the changes bothered you. What bothered ME was Giffin's drawing so many characters with shadowing that left out the noses! I remember writing a letter to DC about the impossibility, as I saw it. lol

Candle: [snip] ...I didn't necessarily like the Proty transfer to a living but empty body explanation but the idea DID explained a lot of Lightning Lad's adult problems... See, I had always figured that just dying and then coming back to life was enough to explain Lightning Lad. If I'd been reading along during the whole Proty explanation, I think I would have found it more than a little creepy.
I mean, I like the storyline where Gim realized that he'd fallen for "the wrong woman," but it's bad to reflect on it too much-- because if you do, it's actually kind of freaky and wrong. Hi. I know I jumped in the sack with you while pretending to be somebody else, which might be borderline criminal under certain circumstances-- but, you still love me anyway ? Oh, you do. Great.
I made myself accept that by imagining that they had some huge argument about it off-panel. Then Yera apologized and he forgave her. But even that much forgiveness would be a stretch for me. I don't know if I could do it, no matter how kind and good-looking my "accidental" spouse was.
YMMV. I guess when in doubt, accept Berger's long-time assertion that it's soap with spaceships, which means that certain tropes have to be adhered to or the story won't go anywhere.

Hell, the "soap with spaceships" is one of the big reasons I fell in love with the Legion. There were romances and marriages. They didn't always get along with each other (gawd, the fights some of the guys had with Dream Girl got elected leader were hysterical not to mention her problems with always breaking a nail in battle). There were deep friendships and there were rivalries. However, when it came down to it in the end, they fought alongside one another for the greater good.
