Imra's maiden name is Ardeen, not Ranzz.
I liked the story, even with the mistakes. The early innocence, relative low tech (except for the rings rather than jet packs) and lack of tons of ultra evil, murdering badguys was refreshing but almost so unfamiliar I had to get used to it again!
I wonder how the other guys feel about the three Legion gals all intent on smooching Kal?
Is Vi the next girl to join? Ayla doesn't join until after Garth dies. He was still revived by Proty, right? Was Lar revived by Eltro, still?
So, in the end, we still have Proty-Garth and Eltro-Lar?
Just teasing, sort of. Personally, I'm wondering why they produced an alternate cover for this issue that was clearly a hommage to the Great Darkness Saga at all? This cover has no connection to the story inside the book whatsoever. [/b]As noted in the solits, the alternate cover for this issue is part of DC's 75th anniversary celebration where they are re-imagining famous DC covers from the past 75 years. The DC bullet on these versions is changed to DC75 as well.

Just rechecked it. Two of them appeared to kiss him on either cheek. The third was having punch. Maybe that was the third of Lu that really fell for him?
In any case this makes me wonder why the post by SB/SG?!?

Can't speak for SB/SG, but the current interest in Clark that the Legion ladies have now could stem largely from his legendary status. Or some other reason(s). There's no indication yet from any of them that it's a lasting thing.

I guess the implication in the post is that Lu may not have had the crush in the revised continuity, but I'm not seeing anything in which to root that concern. Despite flubs like the Imra/orphan thing, I imagine Paul's goal is to preserve as much of the original continuity as possible, including, certainly, his own stories like "Conspiracy".

I don't know if it's a concern as much as it's just speculation at this point. Kind of like with the Chemical King atatue not being seen. There are enough differences already between this Legion and the previous Levitz Legion that I think it's fair to wonder how much has been/will be changed.

Posting first, then going back to read thread... I preferred the cover artist to the interior artist, which surprises me. WHAT a JOY to see those old-skool kostumes. They never go out of style. But Cos with gloves? Not unless he's wearing them in case he needs to remove one later in order to slap someone with it. The baseball game was a totally unexpected and delightful treat, for me. Looks like someone's trying to take the title of hussy away from Imra! Work that smooch, Miss Tinya! This was Supes' first time in space, eh? And nice to see him call himself SuperBOY. Overall: Nothing earth-shattering. And I was glad of that.

I think this is mostly because until very recently, I had not read this era of the Legion at all. My knowledge and love for them comes from much more modern day stories and themes. I know there is a place for this kind of innocense, but again, it's not the Legion I started with or fell in love with, although it had it's roots there. Believe it or not, the Adventure era team had a pretty shocking amount of darkness to it, when one considers DC comics of that era as a whole. Demon possessions, people being turned into prtoplasm, heroes dying... it was nuts!

This is my number one fantasy for these Adventure tales is that we'll get to see some Invisible Lyle and Chemical King and Ferro Lad 'untold tales!'I'm sold!

Levitz is afterall a JSA guy just like Johns, and Mordru is a JSA villain too. It would be unJohnslike to put those JSAers there for no good reason and it most likely has something to do with the Mordru. If that's not related to the Legion's first meeting with Mordru, it's most likely going to be related to their next. Oooh! What fun! Hmmm... could we possibly see some JSAers end up in the future?

Levitz said that things haven't changed much, just in small ways, so I imagine that the Mordru story is supposed to have taken place the same as before. Lu didn't show that big crush until then.
And Kal is gorgeous! I can understand why the girls want to kiss him!

It was a nice, fun outing.
Great to have a very human-scale story.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I can't believe only ONE person posted anything about how out of character Saturn Girl was portrayed. She was NEVER shown to be that demonstrative/flirty/warm and cuddly with anyone other than LL, except for a couple of times as a ruse to trap Superboy (Adv. 326) or to make Lucy Lane jealous over Jimmmy.
Other than that and the orphan thing, which I thought was very sloppy, I enjoyed the issue. I'd like to see a return to simpler times with more of these types of stories. I'm tired of each successive issue having to have bigger and badder threats to overcome. The entire space/time continuum is in danger AGAIN? Didn't we just save it last issue? Jeez!

If I pretend that Saturn Girl wasn't in the story, and that it was Phantom Girl the whole time, it flows better. Of course, the orphan thing is just flat-out wrong for pretty much any Legion lass, but whaddaryagonnado. Then again, Legion #1 pretty strongly hints that she's been keeping a secret crush on Kal under wraps even from her husband, so who knows, maybe this is pre-establishing a 'Imra hooks up with Clark after she breaks up with Garth' plotline. Which would require Superman to visit the 30th century, and his marriage to Lois to end, or some sort of mental mind-jobbery that I don't even want to consider. Yuck. What a disaster that would be!

Oh yeah, Imra as a shopaholic also seemed awfully shallow and frivolous for the no-nonsense Saturn Girl. You'd think PL had never read a Legion story before. I think he needs to go back and do his homework before he continues writing Legion.

And I totally get that with a cast and crew of probably 50+, not everyone's personality is clearly defined, but come on--Saturn Girl? Miss Panel Hog of Y3K? Miss I eat breakfast 100 yards from 3,000 Cubans who are trying to kill me? Oh wait . . .

Finally read it yesterday. Maybe not a huge amount of depth, but still a fun read.
I actually agree with jimgallagher that I can't picture Imra getting worked up about shopping-- unless I imagine her being sarcastic about it. Her flirtatiousness bothers me less: Superboy is the inspiration for the Legion, so yeah-- I can see even Iron Butt getting a little bubbly about getting to meet him.
The preview didn't show some of the stronger pages, art-wise. Some of the faces and anatomy throughout the book do seem "off" to me, but some of them are very nice as well. The composition is also pretty good. Maybe the artist and inker just need some time to find their feet and get a feel for the team. We'll have to wait and see.

Computeroid armies running amok, killing people.
Heroes killing.
Evil magicians conquering planets and killing lackeys.
Alien invasions.
Heroes losing limbs and going nuts.
