I managed to get my hands on the Volume 2s with Superboy. Doesn't explain everything but makes a bit more sense.

What exactly are you referring to, wndola1? Which Volume 2's and explain what?

if this cross-over is a sales success, MAYBE we'll see action figures of the seven Legionnaires! that would be a great tribute to Cockrum as he designed Wildfire, and these costumes for Dream Girl, Starman, and KK.(hopefully Timber Wolf is one of the seven.)

As long as they're not artist-specific. I'd hate to finally get bronze-age Cockrum and Grell Legionnaires based on ... faint puke

I can't believe Superman even bothered to mention the 5 minutes during which Star Boy was expelled when the JSAers asked if he was a Legionnaire. How many YEARS was that before he got the costume he's shown wearing on his statue? Supes made it sound like he never rejoined.

If that wasn't meant to imply that he never rejoined in the continuity that these Legionnaires are from, or at least that Superman doesn't know that he rejoined, then that was an unbelievably awkwardly written bit.

Well, as noted in the Siglain interview at Newsarama, this Legion is not the Pre-Crisis Legion.

None of the New Earths are exactly like their Pre-Crisis counterparts.

To me it's just a case of this Legion looking a lot like my favorite, and Superman was a member. I am pretty happy if that is the case.

The Old Legion is forever gone, as are most of the other post crisis Legions, but the one shown in this team up could be the best one since the original. And if it isn't? Perhaps there will be one on one of the other Earths that is.

I am absolutely thrilled with the Legions I am seeing around the DC Universe, and the direction they seem to be taking. Including the W&K Legion, it's got Mon-El and SuperGirl, and Superman was a member of some Legion somehwere, maybe more than one. I love it. Best Legion news and goingson for me since about 1983. The depressing pall that has hung over this title for 20 years is dissapating.

He might not remember details...SaturnGirl loves those hypnotic blocks, remember?

IIRC Superboy himself played a role in StarBoy's re-admission to the team(Sir Prize)...so there is a reason to have a block there.

Even if this Starboy never rejoined the Legion, does it really matter?

Yeah, you can't go too far down the continuity-paved primrose path here without getting into deep trouble.

After all, Superboy and Supergirl played a part in Star Boy and Dream Girl rejoining. But there is/was no "pre-Crisis" Supergirl, right, because she just got here, and she's hanging out with the "new" Legion.

I totally agree with Superboy. The details of the original Legion are gone, kaput, wiped out. What we MAY see now is a Legion or Legions much more informed by the spirit of the original.

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

That makes sense - a close-to-original LSH in which Supergirl played no role and young Clark played a different role could have resulted in a longer exile for Thom... thus it might weight heavier on both him and Clark. I would imagine he (and Nura) did rejoin, although later, as they still have flight rings and presumably went on the mission with the other 5 Legionnaires.

Even if not the "actual pre-boot LSH, this one is soooo close I'm quite pleased with it.

Who says SuperGirl played no part in this Legion?

Remember...her future is their past. The Crisis was in every time...they aren't bound by time and the Crisis in this sense isn't either. This Legion didn't come from the past or the current time...it came from the future...even before the Crisis.

The Legion was a thousand years after Crisis no matter how you look at it...and this new continuity is kinda Pre Post Pre Crisis...

With all due respect to the WAK, DNA & Archie Legions I feel that this the first real LSH story in years.

Obviously, it's not the pre-crisis Legion but I think it's the closest facsimile that we could hope for.

It'll only give you a headache if you think about it too much. I think Superman's explanation is really all you need to know at the moment.

I just assume everything's up in the air until they tell you what the deal is.

So is this the main thread for discussing these issues?

I read JSA # 5...

Wow, it was AWESOME to see Thom and Nura together again!

That 2-page spread featuring the LSH statues did my heart good.

Now to go and reread everyone's comments...

Agreed. I generally try to appreciate each era's good points, and there are aspects of each post-Levitz Legion I'd grown quite attached to.

But this version feels like... well, like coming home.

I meant to post this here' accidentally did over in July solicitations:

Re-reading the 1st two parts... we see Thom (in JLA, I think) going "itsy bitsy" or something like that, while making hand gestures implying something small, while the others are discussing the scattered Legionnaires. Methinks Vi is one of the 7.
