It was a great scene for Tenzil, one of a very few in his Legion lifetime. I was very happy to see it.

Do we know who the 'red head' is that Lar has his first sex with?
I agree with Vee, I think it's Shady.

I agree with Vee, I think it's Shady. I really can't see them using any other Legionnaire and the comment makes it almost have to be one.

Who else would dare volunteer for that mission, knowing how possessive Shady is?

Does anyone else think Mon-El's new costume is hideous and stupid looking? http://bottlecityofkanga.blogspot.com/2009/12/mon-els-exciting-new-look-or-ma-kents.html And any ideas how long he has to wear it for? Isn't Superman due back in his own back after World of Krypton finishes? And isn't that in around four issues? The whole thing feels like not much at all has happened. The Superman book has been more about General Lane and his wacky villains than about Mon-El. It's all been a bit disappointing. And how long is he supposed to be in Justice League for? It can't be long if they're all off to the 31st Century again. This is getting confusing.

Guys, I'm pretty positive that isn't Shady or another Legionnaire. That's Billy Harper, the Guardian's great-grandaughter (or something like that).
As for Mon-El's new costume: I must have mentally blocked out noticing it up until now. I shall resume doing so...

I'm pretty sure too that the woman Lar slept with was Billy Harper, and I think they established she's a "great-niece" to Guardian, something like that. They had a whole angst angle from her thinking Guardian didn't know who she was, and she didn't want to disappoint him. It would be too confusing to make her also Shady using a distorter, since Billy is related to Guardian. And don't forget, the "Origins and Omens" backups they did a few months back showed Mon's tragic love, and the woman's image was the previously unseen Billy. So, things don't look good for this relationship. Whether it's because they kill Billy or it becomes too much to handle a long distance relationship (Earth and the Phantom Zone)...

At least his chesticles aren't sticking out five miles into the open air, like poor Sensor Girl. I liked the old costume better, because A) In general, I like to see at least a few characters in something other than the standard union suit and B) I'm contractually obligated to because all of us Levitz/Giffen fans are supposed to be bullheaded in our insistence that everything was better in the past even if it probably wasn't and these things are totally subjective. It's true! I read it on TV Tropes, or in one of those pamphlets in the supermarket checkout. Or something. But if you look at it as part of the ongoing attempt to tie the Legion more closely to flagship DC characters, it makes perfect sense. They want everyone to think "Superman" when they see Mon-El, not just us hardcore old-timers that know the basic relationship/origin/association without being told.

I have a question about Mon-el and this seems the best thread to ask it in.
So the Mon-el that's running around in Superman is the Mon-el from before he gets released by Brainiac 5 in the 30th century and joins the Legion.
Except that the Mon-el who first appears in the 30th Century is just a mid-teenager (15 or 16?) like the rest of the Legionnaires right? While the Mon-el in Superman (from before his release) is clearly about 21 or older. He looks about the same age as Jeckie and Tenzil who at this point in their timeline are about 10 years older than when they first met him.
Is there something I'm missing or should I just chalk this up to DC editors not doing their jobs as usual?

Well, traditionally, Mon-El is supposed to be about eighteen when he is released from the Phantom Zone, so he's a couple of years older than his fellow Legionnaires.

BUT, like EDE said, Mon El was ORIGINALLY older than Superboy - Bob Cobb working man, not high school student. He was similarly 18 or so when he was released to join the Legion.
That being said, I was confused by the Lo3W release of him from a zone of some sort, since he already had a relationship with Shady.
Somehow, I missed why he was there, other than that he had an iron poisoning or something.
I like the idea that someone had to settle the Kandorians on Daxam. Unfortunately, Daxam is extremely xenophobic and has a red sun.
I don't think that the Kandorians would go back to being powerless, either.
But I DO agree that intermarrying might help the lead AND the Kryptonite issues for both groups.

He was thrown in there by Earth-Man, if I recall the dialogue from that scene correctly, and the Legion was just now getting it's hands on a projector that could bring him out.

Thanks everyone. I didn't realise that Mon was originally meant to be older than the rest of the Legionnaires. But now that you mention it Candle - Bob Cobb, Hair-brush (or something) salesman does ring a bell. I guess I could see the Mon appearing in current Superman stories as an 18 year-old. And that would keep in with the established continuity. Gosh! Does that mean I owe DC editorial an apology? Maybe I should blame Curt Swan for drawing Mon so small and cute all those years ago?

Darn you, NC! You stole my thunder/news!
So, Lar's going to have a baby! Wow!
And, not only was he given lessons in how to be a hero, a little like he did in his Superboy relationship of old, BUT he's given a hope for future release and a life with friends, something he didn't have before.
AND he has Chris, at least for now!
I'd say this all bodes well for his mental stability in the far flung future!
What are they going to do with the baby???!!! Will the human genetics give it immunity to lead? Will the child have superpowers of any kind? Will Lar have descendents in the future? Laurel? Who's the gal he saved, sister, daughter, descendent? Will the gorilla find out? What about the Kryptonians who have hidden themselves on Earth?
Oh BOY!
PS - did Lar and Kon save the Daxamite girl in that story panel or was it supposed to be Nura? Where's Nura and the rest of the Legionnaires in the past?
sigh

Yeah. They can look out for each other! I'm glad Chris has someone, too.
I hope he stays with Lar the whole time and then they get out together in the future!

Question is, what happens to Chris in the intervening 1,000 years? We've already seen Mon-el emerge from the Zone in Adventure #11 and he sure looked alone.

My boy Mon is an absentee dad! Can you imagine how miserable he'll be watching his son/daughter growing up without him on Earth? Granted he'll have Chris to keep him company for a while but at some point all the Kryptonians get released from the P-Zone and Mon is left there alone. BTW, the baby will have one heck of a heroic pedigree. Great niece/nephew of the Guardian, son/daughter of Mon-El, second cousin (third? fourth?) of Roy Harper/Arsenal. I suspect s/he'll be considered a quasi-nephew/niece by Clark & Lois, and a cousin by Kara and Conner. And her/his daxamite heritage raises some potential issues. Will the baby have the same problem with lead? If so will s/he need to be sent into the P-Zone as well? Or rocketed to Daxam to be raised by the Gand family? So many complications and changes to the established history of Lar gand...as if his backstory weren't confusing enough for many.
