Ok, so what is your favorite Legion moment?

Mine would have to be when Princess Projectra kicks Nemisis kid's butt after Karate Kid's death.

This was the first major story arc that I had managed to collect through back issues when I got into Legion and it made Projectra a favorite of mine. She was just so hardcore.

So what is your Legion moment?

The end of the Universo Project four-parter. Saturn Girl goes to confront Universo in his office, to discover that he's got Mon-El and Ultra Boy as bodyguards.

She goes on the telepathic offensive and shuts them down and Universo is like, "What did you do woman? The two most powerful men in the galaxy and you just look at them and they fall down?!?"

Mine is a different Projectra moment. When Sensor Girl faces down the Emerald Empress and the Empress address her as a social equal. Monarch to Monarch - woman to woman - Usurper Queen to Queen of Orando. It's absolutely cool.

That scene from start to finish is an extremely powerful moment. It may very well be my favorite Hero/Villian confrontation in the medium.

One of my all time favorites is the end of Legion Lost, when Garth rallies the team, then sacrifices himself to save them and two universes. Not a bad way to go out...

I have two.

One is the White Witch's fight with the Khundian warrior, her first one-to-one fight as a Legionnaire. A wonderful way to prove herself.

The other one is also in the LSV storyline. Ayla finds herself with her lightning powers restored and turns around to face the entire LSV, alone. Still gives me goosebumps.

That's my favourite moment, too, not just because it was a penultimate act of self-sacrifice, but even more so because of his expressed belief that people of good character will always exist and come together for the common good, even if the Legion itself should happen not to exist to do so. His faith and idealism absolutely floored me.

One of my favorites is the very end of the Magic Wars, with the Legion standing on the remains of Sorceror's World, and Sensor Girl's speech about how everything will be okay as long as there's a Legion.

Of course, next time we see them, the Legion is no more, but still...

I'm going to piggy-back off this one, because the first thought that came to my mind was Monel and Tharak falling through the atmosphere in Legion World's One, pretty much the very next scene to yours.

lots of good moments here!

my personal fav is the final issue of the Magic Wars where the White Witch attacks the archmage alone and refuses to flee with the other sorcerers. awesome. i love the whole battle, Wildfire beig surprised shes so powerful and someone saying "dont confuse power with courage", Dream Girl Tellus and Saturn Girl trying to convince her to flee, and with Blok being the one to convince her to finally leave.

I have to go with the Princess Projectra/Sensor Girl camp. But, my pick for moment would be when Emerald Empress is standing over her as her Sensor Girl guise evaporates. Drama, drama, drama!

Runner up would be when she tells Element Lad that she respects his leadership.

I have two:

1) Green Lantern Rond Vidar reveals himself to the Conspiracy Legionnaires (vs. the Time Trapper)

2) Karate Kid takes a pot shot kick at Darkseid during the Great Darkness Saga

Yes! "Astound THIS, stone face!" I was thinking of the same KK scene. So many good ones in the Great Darkness conclusion. My favorite is Superboy and Supergirl given by Highfather the power to "ignore a red sun," swoop down and just WALLOP Darseid, cracking his headgear off of him. I think that was Keith's most powerful, dynamic illustration. Then, Darkseid omega beam's Superboy back to Smallville, reappears out of boom tube, grabs Kara by the HEAD and introduces her to pain that Desaad would appreciate, with a super-imposed close-up image of Kara screaming. Amazing stuff. And of course, Brainy comes to her rescue. Sniff.

...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

So many cool moments.

I've also got a fondness for the scene in the LSV 'war' on Orando where the Legionnaires are in power-nullifying shackles and Karate Kid is the one whose 'powers' can't be nullified and breaks free.

There are a lot of potential all-time favorites - most of them in the Levitz era and in 5YL - but the first one that comes to my mind is Annual #1, Jacques Foccart risking his live to save his sister, drinking Lyle Norgs invisibility serum and thereby beating Computo.

For me as a young kid, this issue was the perfect execution of a Legion story, and I did never see the end coming cause I was not accustomed to modern storywriting. Foccart endling up as the new Invisible Kid was a perfect ending to a perfect issue.

Other favorites include Omega destroying the HQ and Marla Latham finding out Cham's Brandes son...

I love the moment when Dream Girl shows she's got the stuff to lead the Legion when she beats out Hagga (Projectra's grandmother?) creating a perfect teamwork situation for Shadow Lass, Ultra Boy, Mon-El, Karate kid and Projectra.

LOSH v3 #50 was pretty special for me. That fight at the end of time! Rond Vidar lighting up as a GL. Brainy staring down the Trapper.

(and I share a few others stated here. v4 #4 Mon-El, Projectra killing Nemesis, v4. annual #1 Jo gets his due, etc)

For something more recent, almost every scene in current LSH #2. Dream Girl saying "look into my eyes, which incidentally are up here." Her telling Karate Kid she doesn't need yoga, she needs to be KO'd. The Dreamy/Brainy scene where she says "you'll feel differently when we're married." "Hebetudinous child." And the goats. Oh, and UBoy and Colossal Boy sparring through the HQ. So many wonderful scenes.

I'll add some more favorite moments:

Matter-Eater Lad facing down Duplicate Boy: "Yeah, maybe you could kick my ass, and you're welcome to try, but at the end of the day, you're still a jerk..."

Saturn Girl emerging from the cave after "she" had sacrificed herself to save Garth...

Luornu crawling through the tunnel, alone, in Smallville...

Ferro Lad slugs Superboy, carries bomb to heart of Sun-Eater...

"He did have unique power, but he could only use it once..."

Not to forget the wonderful Tenzil issues in 5YL (what was it... #14 and #48 or something like that???)

"That gives me an appetite... and you don't want to give me an appetite..."

They did some more Tenzil stuff back then in this wonderful Legion 5YL Roleplaying book. Never did any roleplaying, but the book is just great Legion background stuff!

Great moments all, mine would be The issue where Dawny is about to go on here grand quest and she tells Wildfire. " I wish there was a you inside there." kisses his suit with her finger and leaves. After which Wildfire whispers "I love you." and blows his suit up.

The scene from Great Darkenss where during a meeting. Dreamy faints, The alarm for Modru goes off and they get a call about a break out on Takron-Galtos.

and last but not least, Superboy and Wildfires conversation at the end of The Omega Saga where Wildfire says in effect "we'll go out and do the same thing again."

I sought truth.. and found friendship and love, which even your lies can never take the memory of from me. (B5 to Time Trapper LSH 50)

I like all the greatest Projectra and Saturn Girl moments.
Jeckie broken Nemesis Kid neck.
The sad final of Sarya of Venegar.
Saturn Girl in the cave with Darkseid.

But one special moment for me was when Glorith says Jo wich Tinya is alive, and Sussa sacrifice saying Jo : Go...

Two moments from the Bates/Cockrum era encapsulate the Legion for me:

1. The group shot of the Legionnaires coming out of hiding after surprising Superboy with Timber Wolf's return from the dead in SUPERBOY # 197. This moment -- which is one of the first group-shots of the Legion ever -- captures all the camaraderie, love, and sense of family these heroes represent.

2. The shot of Element Lad and Brainiac 5 leaping out of the way as Persuader destroys their Time Bubble in the following issue. This moment serves as a powerful reminder that the Legionnaires live their lives in danger and must constantly be on guard. It's also significant that two of them are attacked together: Even though there is danger, they do not have to face it alone.
