OK, so, we see Tyroc still in (ugly) costume on the cover of Legion #10. so it's not him. the silhouette on LSH #8 is too buff to be Bouncing Boy, even though he's the top pick. IMO, that leaves (if an Earther is required) Invisible Kid or Colossal Boy?? i don't believe it will be Sun Boy. How about Mon-El? i kind of like that idea. it fits his space explorer character. but if it's an Earthling, i vote for Invisible Kid. he's not that powerful on his own. was fearless enough to face Darkseid and earn a white streak in his hair. has not had much plot development in decades. any other last minute guesses?

I don't think the GL has to be an Earth-born legionnaire.
Of the Earthlings, I would have thought Gim's SP background would make him an obvious choice and it would be a good follow on from the Earth Man-CB head to head. (As an aside, why hasn't the Legion insisted that Earth Man reverts to his old Absorbancy Boy name?)
I wonder if Mon-El was going to be the GL but has been elected Legion leader and really screwed up Paul Levitz's plans. The idea of another Daxamite getting a GL ring seems a bit pointless to me though.
My choice would be Night Girl (I know she's a non-Earthling and female but this is my choice). After both Cos and Paul Levitz dumped her, what better way to come back fighting?

My choice would have been one of the legion ladies, perhaps, as Silver Age Lad suggested, a sidelined one like Night Girl, or Chameleon Girl.
Dream Girl was described by Imra as supremely 'willful,' with an ego so strong that she warped Universo's psychic prison into a gilded cage. She'd make an interesting Green Lantern.
(And while Earth has had a few minority Green Lanterns, it hasn't had a female Green Lantern yet, although Jade kinda / sorta was a legacy of a Green Lantern...)
But the silhouette looks male, so unless Yera was messing around, it's probably a boy. Invisible Jacques is pretty hapless on his own, and would probably be the best suited to become a Green Lantern, of the active membership, although Tenzil Kem, Green Lantern, has a certain ring to it...

I know I am waaaaaaay out in left field with my prediction here but I just have this feeling that (and this has nothing to do with him being Earth born) the new GL will be none other than Chuck Taine!

Don't put it past DC to find a way to get Hal Jordan to the future and make him GL there as well. In fact changing the title to "Green Lantern and the Legion of Super-Heroes" may also be in the cards.

I'm surprised no one has retconned GL's periodic Silver Age trips into the future into a Legion membership already.

smacks of promotion for new movie. personally i'd hate to see Nura as a GL, I thought what was great about her and other one power heroes is their resourcefulness ... maybe rond will come back as the GL!!

I doubt that the new GL will be any of the Legionnaires we've barely seen in the current series, including Jacques, Chuck, or Rond. It won't be a fulfilling payoff unless it's someone readers have come to know.

I stress the word "marginally." Honestly, I really don't give a fig about Green Lanterns (apart from Rond) and just want this subplot out of the way for a while. No matter who gets the nod, I doubt I'll be anything but annoyed. I mean, why not continue in the tradition established with Rond and give the damn thing to somebody who's heroic but --gasp!-- doesn't already have freakin' superpowers and a place on a team?!Gah. Just get it over with, DC.

Purely judging by the shadowy pose(and his absence on subsequent covers)--Ultra Boy...

I second the "want Rond back" motion. With or without the damned ring, dead or undead ... "Zombie Green Lantern of the 31st Century". Kinda has a NOTnice ring to it! Get it , ring??? Uh, forget I brought it up. I'm tired. Bouncing Boy for Leader/Deputy Leader/Green Lantern/more screen time!

Bouncing Boy for Leader/Deputy Leader/Green Lantern/more screen time! nooo!!!! (in that i mean no it's not crazy it's happened before!) there was a zombie green lanter called Dirk (?) who had some adventures with the GL corps crew, Arisia, John Stewart, Kilowog during the late 80s ... (another?) he died and his ring kept his consciousness, albeit very damaged, and his body together, albeit very damaged. he'd say things not very far from 'grrr arrgh' and he'd get blow apart and his ring would put him back together. not that i want this for rond but, stranger things have happened.

I vote for Rond, too.
But, more logically (I guess) I have to go with Chuck. If it's a he and 'he' has to be from Earth for the Earth sector.
His power may be back in Lo3Ws but he's always loosing it again.
I'd actually choose a number of exlegionaires, Chuck, Tenzil, Lydda and Yera, all from different sectors.
A singin' and a dancin' along the way.

To me having Chuck be the new Lantern makes sense. He is a Legionnaire so we know he's brave (without fear, whatever) and he's a long-standing fan favourite as well. He's from Earth, and he would have a back up power should he ever find himself in a bind where his ring is without power. A winning combination I think.

Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.
