I found this on Comics Continuum today.
COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED
SAN DIEGO -- A preview clip for the next season of Justice League Unlimited show at Comic-Con International on Friday revealed a big development: the Legion of Doom.
In the clip, which starts the new season, Lex Luthor breaks out of jail. When apparently trapped by the police, he miraculously is pulled through a wall. He is then taken to meet Gorilla Grodd, who shows him a familiar-looking building -- and then it's revealed that at least two dozen villains are in it.
"We kind of took a page with what we did with Justice League Unlimited," producer Bruce Timm said, "where we opened the ranks of the Justice League to include basically everybody. So now the villains are going to say, 'Hey, we're going to do that, too.' There's going to be a lot of Legion of Doom goodness throughout next season.
"Standalone episodes as well that don't completely focus on the Legion of Doom and some that just touch on the Legion of Doom.
"We have lots of major guest-stars next season. We had the whole Green Lantern/Vixen/Hawkgirl triangle, which is really complicated. We figured we needed to resolve that and we resolved that by making it more complicated. It gets really complicated when Shayera meets this young archeologist named Carter Hall.
"So we've got lots of interesting twists and turns and lots of Legion."
Speaking of another Legion, Timm also noted that the Legion of Super-Heroes will appear next season.
In other highlights from the Justice League portion of the JLU/The Batman panel:
* The episode "Divided We Fall," which debuts on Cartoon Network on Saturday, was shown in a widescreen format.
* Asked about a Justice League Unlimited movie, Timm said, "We talked a lot about doing a straight-to-video JLU movie. Maybe someday, but right now I don't think there's anything definitive happening with that."
* Asked if events in the comics DC Universe have any impact on the show, Timm said, "I don't know. We weren't really planning on using Sue Digby anyways. She's a little extra crispy now."
* Story editor Matt Wayne said an upcoming episode will feature the Seven Soldiers.
* Stargirl will appear next season.
* Producer Dwayne McDuffie said Hawkgirl was his favorite character to write.
* About the much-ballyhooed ban on use of Batman supporting characters or villains, Timm said, "I'm not finding it's a big problem. There's lot of villains -- a Legion of them."

If Bruce Timm is going to make a crack about a recently deceased and much-missed character he should at least get her name right! The rest of the news sounds good though. I wonder if the Legion's appearance here will help or hinder the long-rumoured development of a Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon.

Since they've been keeping continuity with the previous animated series, we at least have some idea of what certain Legionnaires might look like.

Yeah... though, if they keep continuity with the JLU comic books, then it'll be last continuity of Legion, I believe. Either way, that's really exciting news!!

Sounds good. And more hope that a new Legion cartoon will be more JLU based than Titans Go. Thank god!

Good news, and hopefully it's just a prelude to a regular Legion cartoon series.
Speaking of which, the name of Allan Heinberg (Young Avengers, JLA, The O.C., etc.) has been mentioned in connection with the LSH cartoon of late. Just rumors, but he's an enormous Legion fan (remember the Legion #20 "cameo" in The OC a couple of years ago?), and spoke about a possible "super hero project" for Warner Bros. Animation and the Cartoon Network late last year.
Keep your fingers crossed, folks.

I think we (as in Legionworld) kinda already knew this since February of this year, but good to here that he made it official in Diego...now all we need is the JLU three packs of Legion figures!!!

Sounds like a lot of rumor an inuendo in terms of the behind the scenes stuff. I guess we'll see .... (it'll be interesting to see which JLU member joins the Legion ... Star Girl? Super Girl?)

And which "Silver Age" hero will appear? Sounds like it'll probably be Superboy...

LL speaks the truth.
My only question is why bother having someone from the Justice League join the Legion if they're not gonna be there when the series starts? That's stupid, IMHO.

It would be like Byrne working on a Legion book. There are just some things that even I won't support in the name of all that's Legion.

Dandy. There's nothing that bodes quite as well for a Legion incarnation than demands from on high regarding silver-age heroes.

[/b]Talk about creepy... remember the Byrne Legion cover, one issue before the "kill-Superboy-and-ruin-Legion-history-forever" storyline? They probably did it with the idea of boosing sales with Byrne's (at that time) popular name, but it really felt like an extra slap in the face. About the Titans cartoon, I agree with you for the most part -- I can't sit through it, myself. But I know the other cartoons (Batman, Superman, JL) have skewed to an older audience than they wanted, and they created Titans with the idea of appealing to younger kids (no idea if this has been successful). I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I wouldn't mind if they created a Legion cartoon for younger kids, whether or not I was able to enjoy it personally. On the plus side, if they do create a kiddie version with no worry of back story or continuity, there may be a greater chance of seeing a real, actual, Earth-1 style, Clark Kent Superboy... I would like that, at least...

While I can understand why some people might detest the Teen Titans style of cartoon, I actually enjoy the series a lot more than I thought I would. Mostly because the writing's pretty good and they've done a good job with their mini arcs - giving each Titan their chance to shine and develop. I also anjoy the development of their comeraderie - from a group of very different individuals who had genuine reservations about being in the group and genuine tension between members to a family that has settled into a familiar (and comforting) kind of bickering where you can tell there's love beneath it rather than animosity.
And the animation, while not everyone's cup of tea, is pretty dynamic and sometimes inventive in its graphic sensibilities (not as much as say "Samurai Jack", but there's a real sense that some sequences are as much graphic design as animation).

I agree with Drake completely. I avoided the Titans cartoon like the plague the first season, but once I actually sat down and watched a couple of episodes I really started to enjoy it. With the exception of a few completely goofy episodes (like the one about the green space dog and anything with the idiotic Mumbo Jumbo in it) it's really a lot more mature and complex than I thought it would be based on the style of animation.

Ditto. I didn't think I'd like it but... in the end, I did. The characters are well thought out and fun, even if the animation's a little... intense sometimes.
And I'd rather see a Titans-style Legion cartoon than no Legion cartoon at all. Hands down.

i know it's a long shot but i would love it if the legion animated series were designed by Jeff Matsuda who did the characters designs for Jackie Chan Adventures and The Batman.
