There's a preview of the Superboy/Legion stories and variant cover over at DC http://www.dccomics.com/media/excerpts/13356_x.pdf
"Our devotion to each other was unexplainable" "You were kids" "No Batman, we were Legion"

I have to read the solicits for this one. Has most of my top 10 fave members on the cover (Blok, Brainy, Wildfire, Dawnstar, White Witch)!!!
And the Superboy Blackest Night tie in. Interesting! That's his clone right? (or whatever the bizarro superboy was)

Guys, I've just thought of something about Wildfire's new suit.
The old one pretty much was a stylish hazmat suit when you get down to it, so when people give a first glance they don't think he's really made up of anti-energy. But in his new one it's so obvious you'd have to be blind not to realize he's made of energy. What if it's a statement that Drake has, I don't know, moved on from his desire to gain a flesh and blood body back and has accepted his state, no longer caring about it. And yes I have thought about the whole Dawn/Drake relation. You think it's possible?

That would be a nice bit of characterization for Drake IMO, agree with his moving on or not. Exploration of why he as a ball of energy still has conscious would be a difficult story to write I think, but it could tie in with that decision.

That's the best variant cover so far. I hate having to buy them both, but a Legion fanatic's gotta do what a Legion fanatic's gotta do... -LLL!!

That's a pretty neat observation. I'd be leery of assuming that the writers put that much thought into it (since the've decided that his containment suit was built out of Red Tornado...), but I like the idea, as it suggests character growth on his part, and the least attractive part of the Wildfire / Dawnstar relationship, to me, was how the characters seemed incapable of moving forward in anyway, just going through the same angsty stuff over and over. If they really felt the need to connect Drake to the 20th, I think I would have preferred a tie to Firestorm, somehow, with Drake being some sort of elemental avatar of destruction or something. (Sort of like the antimatter universe version of Firestorm.)

IS that the Black Witch?
The only difference in Perez's Black and White Witches was the, ummmm, black and white hair and costume. Just artistic differences, you think?

Guys, on the DC Comics page for Ad #4 they released a preview with more pages. Including the Legion. And guess what? The SP story is called "He Primed Me". Oh and Blok's outer shell is falling off.

Well, I will say this about the issue.
Click Here For A SpoilerPrime is attacked and given his armor back by BL Alex Luthor in order to provoke him, get him angry like he was. And to help do that, Alex is aided by Black Lanterns Charaxes, Bushido, the Blood Pack members Prime killed in IC and, oh yeah, Sun Boy and Element Lad.
In the Legion back-up, it doesn't end as you think. And we see mention of Glorith, Evillo, Kid and Blue Devil, and Zatanna.

Interesting comments from Brainiac 5 about the irrational behavior of Legionnaires in love, considering that in the revised history of this Legion, he probably had neither a Supergirl nor a Laurel Gand to get emotional over.

Meanwhile, with Blok, I think Johns is playing on something that happened in the old issues of LEGION. Didn't the same thing happen to Strata?

The outer shell fell off when Strata matured into a girl. I wonder how THAT will effect Blok's and Mysa's relationship?

As I recall, in the old Legion series, Blok was already undergoing some radical physiological changes. Did all that just disappear, or am I wrong in assuming that this Legion is that Legion?

Glorith and Evillo - it doesn't explain whether they are just statues or turned to stone. and in the Prime story it doesn't explain how Click Here For A SpoilerSun Boy and Element Lad got there from the 30th C

Here's what I want to know about the main story.
Did it play out just like it did in Superboy-Prime's copy of the issue?
If it did, Prime is either really into cooperating with destiny or stupider than I can wrap my brain around.
If it didn't, then just what was in his copy of the issue?
This is what happens when you take a punchline and try to make a serious story out of it.

That's exactly what i was coming over here to report. Yeah and the story is called Star Crossed...and both couples represented are exactly that. And Brainy should be one of them and be able to emphasie the most because of Kara...so either this is making it clear Kara of New Earth never joined the team way back when or She has yet to. Which would make Brainy back to "himself". Also some other bits of info in the book that i want to share from my observation...I don't believe Laurie's dead...cause wouldnt she be like Sue Digby and Lois Lane Kent and floating above on the first panel of Page 20? oh and there's an appearance of LSH of Earth Prime too.

one more thing...did anyone else get that San Diego refence ? As I recall, in the old Legion series, Blok was already undergoing some radical physiological changes. Did all that just disappear, or am I wrong in assuming that this Legion is that Legion? No its not "that" legion. That legion was the post-crisis legion. This legion is sort of What would have happend to the legion if the crisis had contiuned from that time line b4 crisis hit. But it's a restored timeline of that precrisis legion with a new history (Superman never was public in Smallville as Superboy. Though he did superdeeds and had a superdog...and had his powers as a teen. Unlike the origin of the Man of Steel (post-crisis).

If the Legion stories are only 8 pages, I don't get why TPTB are posting 3 pages per issue on the internet. What's my motivation for shelling out the dough for the whole story when I can read almost half of it here for free? And judging from what I've seen the stories are pretty drawn out with a lot of filler. Back in the day, Cockrum and Bates told complete stories in 8 pages. Why can't we have that now?

I guess.
