Lightning Lad is in his 'Adventure' costume and we have the rocket HQ plus Lyle Norg. But Cham and Thom are in their Levitz/Giffen costumes. This cannot be a Legion we've seen before..... unless they come from different times.

Wait...just read it...CHIMERA LAD???? I read this to be an outside person co-ordinating the Legion, JLA and Titans - but with Giffen who knows. Another Triad debacle? Reep Daggle - Chimera Lad?

And the Legion makes an appearance in this week's isue. Old school- Bouncing Boy and all that.
Chameleon Boy is listed as Chameleon Boy in the roll call. And later, Dream Girl mentions Chimera Lad. I dont' think they are the same.
Just spouting off.

<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">Am I alone in being a little worried about the potential of the Legion going in to kill? Especially given the way the JSA seem to be out to “eliminate” Tranquillity. </span></span>
and
<span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">The coldness of the JLA towards Ollie’s death also worried me. </span></span>
So it looks as if this Chimera Lad (or Chimera to the JSA) is somehow pulling various strings. Wonder if Chimera is connected with the Time Trapper story that’s coming up?

I have a question. Does anybody know yet if and how this story relates to the unfolding crisis? Specifically, I'm wondering if this story was set up elsewhere in another DCU book. And what's the deal with Ollie looking more like the Silver Age version of Green Arrow rather than one of the grittier latter-day incarnations?
In any event, I've got to agree with Faraway Lad: the JLA's coldness and Brainy's and Brin's seeming willingness to ignore the Legion's life-sanctity code really disturbed me, too. Although I'm not up-to-date on what's going on in the 21st century DCU at the moment, I'm forced to wonder whether or not a) the DC heroes are from a slightly different reality than the one(s) I am familiar with, or b) they are under the mental control of an omnipotent third party.
One nice thing about Dream War is that its giving me a long-delayed introduction to the Wildstorm Universe. Ever since Majestic came to the the DCU, I've been intrigued not only by him specifically, but by what his philosophical orientation said about the quality of superheroism in the WSU.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

I liked very much this first isseu. There is actually some mysterious reason for DCU being so aggressive to WildstormU. And my guess is there is a certain villain who is capable of channelling dreams into nightmares... At least that's what I picked up from the boy scene at the end, with Superman saying "no more". He is actually dreaming DCU heroes.

Can someone scan and post the Lyle/Cham images here? My comics shop is STILL trying to get me a copy of the issue but so far with no results and I am anxious to see this new take on an old pair of favorites in lieu of getting the issue.

Issue 2 did come out but apart from the previews on page 2 of this thread, there wasn't much Legion.

#3's out-- and it seems to tell us who Chimera Lad is, that and the 'dream' in DreamWar makes bearable an earlier scene that I, for one, was pained to read (though, on another level, it praised what it destroyed).
Considering what the character was doing just before the scene in question, maybe what happened wasn't such a bad thing, after all.
Though given what Superman comes to realize later on, no character appearing here can apparently be blamed or praised for their actions, can they?

The chapert 3 is just a silly massacre. Element Lad,Colossal Boy and Sun Boy died. Who's the next?

I'm not sure I like KG's plot device of having the heroes all mind-controlled so that any of them can be as violent as they want and un-impacted by the deaths of their colleagues. In #3, I didn't even have time to enjoy the horror of what Element Lad was doing before he got done in himself. It seems like there are no limits, and therefore no stakes... uninteresting. But I still like to see these characters drawn (and not in the 'aged' way of the Lightning Saga legion).

I'm just surprised that they didn't introduce Karate Kid to the mix just to kill him again.

#4 has a very nice Legionnaires-in-flight in the snow splash page, I thought. The line "What. Never been duck hunting?" provides that crucial cynical snarl necessary for a Wildstorm book.
Also, Wonder Woman has a big 'props to her' scene.
And we get a Flash/LSH team-up (sort of) which is the closest we'll likely ever get to that any time soon.
Bouncing Boy, in particular, gets featured. He quotes the LSH carter anda says "What have we become" as the various characters in different settings begin to 'come to' and realize that something's 'up'.

This book is somehow fun to read because I consider it "out of continuity" (and I just recently got a ton of WildCATS so I at least know some of these Wildstormers...). But so many people dying makes me fear that this is a taste of what we might be getting with "L3W" when Superboy rampages through the Legion universe... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

I'm really enjoying Dream War. My only beef is that they haven't named all of the Wildstorm characters or clarified what their powers are.

Yeah, but that's the typical DC experience these days... "Who the *** are all these guys?????" It's happening in Final Crisis, Countdown, you name it, why should they bother to introduce the readers to the characters in DC/Wildstorm? My question about Wildstorm - does anyone know what's going on over at Wildstorm in their "regular" universe? There is some kind of apocalypse tearing down the world as far as I read, does anybody know when this started (Wildstorm Armageddon? Or before in the regular series?)? I love my futures to be dystopian, so I'll probably pick up the new Wildstorm stuff

I've been really hating having my DC heroes mixed in with the ultra-violent wildstorm characerts. From the start, I was with Bouncing Boy, uncomfortable and unhappy. of issue 4, I'm hopeful for some resolution that clarifies killers/not-killers. The classic figures don't make sense, which is the point of the wildstorm universe. The Authority is a play on making meta-humans more "real" in terms of how they'd be likely to behave. Mixing the classics with them makes the classics look cardboard and the Wildstorm characters look like butchers. It's not a good mix. I'm hopeful that some resolution will save both.
