Year Six: The De Facto Yellow Kid & Harbinger Term
Part IV: The Good, the Dark and the Dead

Note – the ‘Real History’ section will follow the ‘In Continuity’ sections for an overview

Part I: The Wedding of the High Priestess Viviane and Cobalt Kid
With only Cobalt Kid, Matlock and the High Priestess Viviane as active Security Office on Legion World (Invisible Brainiac and Arachne were away on LMB missions), they decide to begin holding tryouts for jobs.

During Security Office tryouts, Viviane and Cobalt, who had always been very close, become extremely more so. Viviane tells him that she wants to marry. The two appear very in love and say yes.

One possible candidate is new arrival on Legion World, Disaster Boy. Who he is and where he comes from remains a mystery but he quickly immerses himself in Legion World daily life. However, not everyone is convinced that he is on the side of angels.

Despite Cobalt Kid already being married to Space Tart, it is a Ggrrggian custom for males to have many wives and Cobalt Kid sees nothing wrong with this, despite some of his LMB friends, notably Outdoor Miner and Semi-Transparent Fellow, warning him that this could end up being problematic.

Preparations begin getting made as half of Legion World laments at the idea knowing this will only end bad given Viviane’s family and Cobalt’s history of children, let alone LMB wedding ceremonies.

Viviane’s family disrupts SHAKES for a few days and causes problems, forcing Semi-Transparent Fellow to ban them.

The Sorceress Morgause warns against the wedding and is laughed at because of her history as the villainous one of all the Avalonians.

Princess Crujectra prefers not to attend, while her brother Crusader goes in her place. For the first time, Mykal and others notice Crujectra’s usual fond feelings for Cobalt may be more than what they’ve been thought to be in the past.

Matlock at first disapproves whole-heartedly because as the third senior security officer he does not want to get caught in the middle. Eventually, when he sees its to no avail, he agrees to go and serve as minister.

Many weeks go by as anticipation builds on Legion World, especially among the lurking class and Alt ID community, who have been long supporters of Cobalt Kid. Those who know Cobalt Kid and Viviane better, however, have more a sense of dread than anticipation.

Eryk Davis Ester, one of Cobalt Kid’s best friends and fellow Triumvir will not be able to make the wedding, as he makes it known that he and his army have now settled on a different lifestyle on Greg Evigan Island . This lifestyle of peace and self-actualization is different from their former war-like ways. Additionally, each soldier will receive a chimpanzee squire.

Matlock suspiciously does not make the wedding, and Kent Shakespeare steps in as minister. Unknown to the LMB, Matlock is accidently lost in a time bubble for a period and travels back to the past. He is rescued by a Viking Princess—who Matlock does not realize is Hrun the Barbarian’s mother when she was a late teenager. She quickly falls in love with him as she nurses him back to health. Eventually he’ll return, though it pains his heart.

A great number of LMBers attend, as Kent Shakespeare begins the ceremony . Still, many expected to be there are not there, as the engagement was extremely short. All hell breaks loose moments before the wedding. Just before ‘yes’, Viviane suddenly unleashes a fury upon Legion World, and begins attacking. Taking the name Dark Priestess Viviane, a huge battle erupts.

The wedding guests in attendance – Space Ranger, Abin Quank, Emerald Empress, Crusader, the Red Bee, Varalent, Cobalt’s Supergirl Robot, Matlock, Kent Shakespeare – battle Viviane. In the opening moments of confusion, Abin Quank hurls Sorceress Morgause away, unaware that she is on the LMB’s side. Cobalt Kid, stunned, quickly regains his composure and rips off his tux, revealing his uniform. He then battles Viviane.

Queen Igraine and Morgaine of the Fairies, the Royal Family of Avalon, join Viviane.

Other guests, such as lurkers and normal citizens of Legion World, are unsure what to do. Disaster Boy, a guest in the wedding in the citizens of Legion World section, enters the fray but is unsure which side he wants to take, revealing for the first time that his motives are not clear.

Disguised in the audience with his own nefarious plans, The Royal Inquisitor enters the fray and destroys the Supergirl Robot, as well as killing Dustin Hoffman who randomly starts banging on glass.

Monkey-Eater Lad, also a guest, steps in to help out, ripping off his uniform, but realizes that he is naked underneath. He fights the battle naked.

Startling revelations are made clear, as Viviane’s intentions have been nefarious all along: Cobalt’s amulets, a gift to him from Viviane, have been empowered to weaken his will and make him her slave—and this is only stopped by Semi-Transparent Fellow and Varalent. Further, Viviane has been drugging the libations at SHAKES for weeks, as numerous toasts have been made, and all of the LMB at large find themselves suddenly much weakened with their powers dampened.

Suddenly in the middle of the battle, Kent Shakespeare falls into a coma and, via song, begins channeling a propehcy (link to first part) that reveals specific elements of the events that have happened, are happening and have yet to happen. His words, more symbolic than anything, reveal that a key may prove to be the center of this entire event.

Viviane unleashes two powerful spells, one creating an army of Cobalt clones that quickly become bizarros, and then another to become a slimy tentacle monster.

Finally back in action on Legion World, the Emerald Empress and Space Ranger work together and destroy the tentacle monster, joking that the romantic atmosphere isn’t quite their type of night out when compared to destroying monsters side by side.

Space Tart, after weeks of being missing, enters the ceremony grounds and rejoins Cobalt and the LMB to fight Viviane. Pagan Lass also enters the fray, channeling her own pagan Goddess.

The battle rages on all night and into the morning as both teams suffer losses and victories.

Dark Priestess Viviane and her family retire to the Holy Isle of Avalon, floating over Legion World, which is now The Unholy War Planet Avalon ! She prepares to unleash a series of devastating attacks, as her minions continue to battle the LMB.

The LMB sit in the ruins of the wedding, as they gather together and decide what to do next. Outdoor Miner and Yellow Kid join them, as does Princess Crujectra, who along with Space Tart console Cobalt Kid.

Faraway Lad finally shows up late, wondering what happened to the wedding.

Part II: Choosing Sides
Semi-Transparent Fellow and Outdoor Miner ban the royal family from SHAKES, although they attempt to return a few times. Along with Emerald Empress and Varalent, they have a series of stand-offs with the Avalonians.

Dark Priestess Viviane encourages other evil posters to join her, as the Royal Inquisitor, forever looking to have revenge on the LMBers he hates, pledges allegiance. Disaster Boy weighs the benefits of good and evil and ultimately chooses the side of evil for this fight. He joins her on her isle.

Matlock suggests that the remaining LMBers retire to an old headquarters or something, as heroes are apt to do in times of crisis and make plans. The Red Bee initiates this by going back to a briefly used Old LMB Headquarters on the opening days of the their arrival on Legion World. Rarely ever seen, the LMB stock up on beer and booze and decide what to do next.

The Cobie Bizzarro clones become a bigger problem as they roam Legion World. Cobalt Kid suggests that he knows just the man to stop them: Reboot, whose distaste for Cobalt is well documented. Forming an uneasy alliance, Reboot assembles a machine to help destroy the Cobalt clones, although the effects may kill Cobalt in the process. Cobalt, after a heavy decision, tells him to go through with it. He does and Cobalt is quickly in enormous pain, as Space Tart gives him some support. Eventually all the clones die, as Cobalt hinges on the edge. He wakes back up, although now he has lost his magnetism powers, and only maintains his healing and spiritual powers.

Strangely, one Cobalt Clone, Bizarro Cobalt #9, survives.

Reboot maintains that he’ll protect Legion World, but offers no sympathy or allegiance to Cobalt Kid or the LMB in stopping Dark Viviane, his distaste for the De Facto leadership controversy still apparent.

A series of stand-offs continue to occur at SHAKES, the Unholy War Isle and the Old HQ for the next few days as a build-up of weapons occurs. Faraway Lad joins the LMB and then goes on a secret mission to the Unholy War Isle to scout it out.

Cobalt Kid writes to his fellow Triumvirs and informs them of what is occurring. He tells them to be ready, just in case of the need to use the Legion World armies to stop Dark Priestess Viviane. Grey Birdboy writes that they should be wary of entering Legion World, as ancient tradition espouses, and Cobaltus agrees.

Eryk Davis Ester, the other triumvir, writes back with other news, informing Cobaltus that his army has now taken the path of peace under the tutelage of Greg Evigan. Becoming more hippie-like in nature, Eryk Davis Ester and his army pursue their own interests, to the chagrin of Cobalt Kid. As each soldier in Eryk’s army receive a chimpanzee squire, Eryk Davis Ester introduces his own chimpanzee, Calamity Monkey to Cobalt Kid’s envoys. EDE is amazed at his growing Legion of Super-Pets, as Jinx, his cat, also joins them.

Calamity Monkey quickly becomes well known to many LMBers, though he and Jinx seem to not get along. Eryk Davis Ester’s feline appears jealous that her master’s love for him would be transferred to Calamity Monkey, though the monkey appears to be enamored with Jinx. Often, both are seen on Legion World’s main city as Eryk Davis Ester’s appearances become more and more infrequent.

The Royal Inquisitor threatens to destroy Fat Cramer, as she is one of the posters he hates the most, along with Blockade Boy and Cobalt Kid. Many are angered by this and preparations begin getting made.

Queen Connie reappars on Legion World to join the fight against Viviane. She uses her cat-like ability to get into anywhere she wants to begin sabotaging the Unholy Isle.

The mounting pressures begin to percolate and the assault on the Unholy Isle begins.

Part III: The Assault on the Unholy War Planet Avalon
The Red Bee, Yellow Kid, Matlock, a de-powered Cobalt Kid and Faraway Lad initially start the invasion of the Unholy Isle of Avalon. There, they are met by Dark Priestess Viviane, High Queen Igraine and Mograine of the Fairies and a large battle ensues.

A large rift grows between Disaster Boy and Dark Priestess Viviane, until it cumulates with Disaster Boy turning his back on the witches and joining the LMB in battle! Turning to the side of good for his own reasons, Disaster Boy fights back against the Avalonians.

Gay Green Giant of the Primary Colors Gang joins his pal Yellow Kid and the LMB in the battle. The Sorceress Morgause suddenly returns and joins the battle on the side of the LMB.

While the LMB is battling on Avalon, the Royal Inquisitor seizes this moment to bomb the Old LMB HQ and reduces it to smoldering ruins. He continues to threaten that he will destroy Café Cramer, as revenge against Fat Cramer, one of the posters that he hates the most. Initially, there appears to be no loss of life at the old LMB HQ, however, they are uncertain and a clean-up crew of security officers begins going through the rubble, as the LMB remains in battle and spread thin.

Dark Priestess Viviane joins her sisters and they channel a spell directly from the Goddess into Viviane, giving her massive power. She uses a spell to have stars begin raining down upon Legion World.

Reboot appears on the scene, in defense of Legion World, and uses his abilities to transfer the magical energy into pure energy, stopping the stars from raining onto Legion World while Glitch maintains his forcefield in case of physical impact. Acting as a safety net against LW in general, he never actually joins the fray.
A great darkness begins emulating from the Unholy Isle and permeates onto Legion World.

Dark Viviane uses a spell to decay Yellow Kid’s skin. Yellow Kid responds with ‘super spin’ power, imprisoning the three witches briefly. Cobalt Kid uses his healing powers to heal Yellow Kid, and is able to have a brief moment where he looks Viviane directly in the eyes. At this point, he becomes convinced that Viviane is being controlled by someone or some force and is not lashing out at the LMB on her own free will.

The LMBers are suddenly pushed off the Isle, only to be rescued by Space Tart, who joins them late and saves them from falling. Deciding that the battle is counter-productive, the LMBers decide to leave the Unholy Isle and figure out where to go from here, without killing Viviane in the process if they can avoid it. Matlock and Red Bee suggest they return to their old HQ, which they do, only to find it completely destroyed.

Year Six: The De Facto Yellow Kid & Harbinger Term
Part IV: The Good, the Dark and the Dead (cont’d)

Part IV: The Dead
The various LMBers split up, under the command of Yellow Kid, to deal with various problems.

Leaving the rubble of the old HQ building, Cobalt Kid and Matlock have a conference at Café Cramer. Here, they decide that Cobalt will go off on his own quest to regain his powers, while Matlock stands guard at Café Cramer to fend off an attack by the Royal Inquisitor. Other preparations are made to deal with Dark Priestess Viviane. The Red Bee is inducted into the Security Office at this meeting.

Cobalt Kid seeks out Princess Crujectra at the Psyonian Embassy and gets her advice on how to proceed on his quest for his powers.

The ghost of Faraway Lad appears to Yellow Kid, Outdoor Miner, Kent Shakespeare and Cobalt Kid at different locations on Legion World suddenly.

Gay Green Giant uncovers the broken body of Faraway Lad under the Rubble of the old HQ. Cobalt Kid attempts to heal him with his powers and accomplishes this to a small extent, but Faraway Lad continues to move closer to the edge of dying. Yellow Kid encases him in a time sphere to stall the death and brings him to Medicus One .

Cobalt Kid journeys to the Security Office and makes the Red Bee’s induction official. Here, he sends a distress call to his old ally Hrun the Barbarian to join him on Legion World and help on his quest.

The Royal Inquisitor continues to make bold threats against Café Cramer. Fat Cramer joins the Red Bee, Space Tart, Matlock and others at her Café and gladly welcomes the Inquisitor to try. The Emerald Empress, holding a long-standing grudge against the Inquisitor joins them and awaits an opportunity for revenge.

Outdoor Miner continues to drink massive amounts of alcohol throughout the crisis, which helps motivate and encourage the citizens of Legion World to remain calm.

Throughout this, a strange smell begins emanating from a small hut called the ‘ i farted thread ’. Kid Vudoo is sent in to investigate and finds new LMBer Polar Boy.

Doctor One makes an emergency journey back to Legion World to begin working on Faraway Lad.

Disaster Boy, now on the side of good, journeys to Daxam at immense speed and is able to get a handful of Daxamite scientists to help restore Faraway Lad to life. He brings them back, where they join Doctor One and begin attempting to figure out how to save him. Gigglebot Girl becomes inconsolable as Poverty Lad holds her while the two look on.

Cobalt Kid checks in on Eryk Davis Ester’s hippie army to see how things are progressing, only to discover the mayhem that Calamity Monkey is causing and Lash wearing a new tie-dye shirt. EDE has now resumed his Mayavale-esque haircut of old. This inspires Cobalt to look for Dr. Mayavale, who may be able to help Cobalt regain his powers through spiritual means.

The Darkness continues to spread from the Unholy Isle. Dark Priestess Viviane mysteriously makes no attacks, which worries the LMB.

Cobalt Kid ventures to the ‘Giant Squid Memorial Center for Advancement of Alt ID Culture”, which he had not been to in awhile, looking for Dr. Mayavale. He is unable to find Dr. Mayavale or Lucifer Lass, a co-curator of the museum and someone he thought might be useful. However, he discovers an ancient Alt ID artifact: a prophecy that had gone unnoticed but describes recent events, and tells that an Alt ID/lurker posing as a real poster may be a LMB traitor. Cobalt wonders if his spirituality powers pointed this out to him. Hrun the Barbarian joins Cobalt at the center and the two are reunited. Hrun tells that his seers have recently had similar visions to the Prophecy and Cobalt begins to suspect that this may be coming true.

Yellow Kid has Gay Green Giant assemble the old Primary Color’s Gang to prepare for a journey into the pocket dimension of Superboy back in time, to see if his phantom zone projector may be of some use in helping Faraway Lad. Outdoor Miner volunteers to go on this mission with him.

Hrun the Barbarian stops into SHAKES to see old friends and is greeted by Semi-Transparent Fellow, Disaster Boy and a new regular, Polar Boy. He has a quick bit of fun with Babette the android barmaid there. Calamity Monkey makes a surprise appearance at SHAKES also, and not surprisingly, is very affectionate to Semi-Transparent Fellow.

Other LMBers continue to subtly prepare for the Inquisitor’s attack. Queen Connie and Gay Green Giant stay there.

Cobalt Kid and Hrun venture to Varalent’s Variable Villa to get his advice on how to proceed from here. They begin formulating ideas for what this prophecy means, as well as how to get Cobalt Kid’s power back and stop Viviane. During their conversation, Hrun slips about Faraway Lad’s status, causing a commotion among the Varangian Guard (a troop of Faraway’s that reside at the Villa with Varalent) as they rush to their lord’s side.

Outdoor Miner is caught up in bringing Hrun to see Faraway Lad after meeting him at the Villa, so Disaster Boy and Reboot take his place on the mission to the Pocket Universe with Yellow Kid and members of the PC Gang.

Part V: Lifeline
Naming their vision “ Lilfeline ”, Yellow Kid, Reboot and Disaster Boy head backwards into time into a pocket dimension with Red Menace and Big Blue Mutha of the Primary Colors Gang. They arrive in Smallville and seek out Superboy to help them.

Reboot remains behind trying to ensure the timestream doesn’t fall apart with his own powers and with Glitch. After disguising themselves as hippies, the other four heroes have a brief interlude with Lana Lang and Ma and Pa Kent, before being joined by Superboy and Mon-El (aka Valor). Soon, they attempt to find the phantom zone-projector.

During their search, they are ambushed by the Time Trapper, who monitors this dimension and a battle ensues. While Yellow Kid, Disaster Boy, Supeboy, Mon-El and the Primary Color Gang battle the Time Trapper, a separate battle rages between the Trapper and Reboot with the timestream as its prize. Red Menace makes the ultimate sacrifice to send his friends home, although Superboy, Mon-El and the Time Trapper are all lost in the timestream.

Yellow Kid, Disaster Boy, Reboot and a badly wounded Big Blue Mutha return, unsuccessful. In the interim, Faraway Lad’s condition has only worsened.

Part VI: Transitions
The Varangian Guard rush to Medicus One to gather around their Lord Faraway Lad. Believing him dead, they kidnap his body, unaware that by taking him away from the various technologies of Medicus One, they are condemning him to death. A melee ensues ending with Faraway Lad missing.

Cobalt Kid, seeing everything continually falling apart, takes action by undergoing a peyote induced quest in the desert . There, he comes to understand that his recent Time Trapper status should have repowered him up, but this did not happen do to his body’s equilibrium being thrown in the favor of his spiritual powers over his magnetism. With the help of Dr. Mayavale, who teaches him how to process the knowledge that all Time Trapper’s gain, Cobalt is able to regain his powers. He returns to the Security Office, dons a new costume designed for him by Crusader, and ventures back out to finish things.

Disaster Boy joins Cobalt at one time, although he is distracted by Hrun, Gigglebot Girl, Calamity Monkey, Reboot and Outdoor Miner, who all journey to find the two peyote taking heroes. Getting away as far as he can to learn more about his origins, Disaster Boy goes to his “ Black Room ” to better understand these things.

Gigglebot Girl gets in an uproar over the missing Faraway Lad, and uses a lollypop bomb on Outdoor Miner as he tries to explain what’s being done to help him. The Red Bee is able to use his red bees to burrow through the gum-filled bomb and free Outdoor Miner from its restraints. In the meantime, Semi Transparent Fellow ensured Outdoor Miner could still consume alcohol through an ingenious use of IV technology.

Hrun the Barbarian uses his natural immunity to magic to once again begin assaulting High Priestess Viviane’s island. After breaking down her defenses, he is joined by Space Tart, Gay Green Giant, Yellow Kid, and a newly returned to Legion World Dedman.

With the LMB spread increasingly thin, Matlock keeps an eye out on Café Cramer for word of the Royal Inquisitor, with the help of Varalent, Queen Connie, Kent Shakespeare and the Red Bee, as well as Fat Cramer and Emerald Empress who join in when they can.

The Varangian Guard bring Faraway Lad’s comatose body to the woods surrounding Castle Faraway and begin building a large funeral pyre to burn him to ash.

Back on Legion World, longtime LMBer and former leader Kid Prime returns to the fold, entering at a moment of intense craziness. Quickly, he leaps into it, attempting to uncover the apparent murder of Faraway Lad. He is able to deduce where they’ve taken him. He is soon joined by Outdoor Miner and a newly repowered Cobalt Kid, who begin piecing together the mystery of the Alt ID/Lurker traitor. Eryk Davis Ester is able to provide the exact location of Castle Faraway, the hardest place in the galaxy to reach.

Kid Prime, Cobalt Kid and Outdoor Miner come to the realization that the traitor has one specific MO: a plethora of unsolved LMB plotlines. These include, but are not limited to: the Lavender K to disrupt the wrestling match of EDE and Cobie, the missing gender-reversal germs, the reasons why the Inquisitor has never been caught, the heavy rumors of a LOMBV, possibly the answer to the ‘Chip in Head’ mystery and the attempted assassination of Faraway Lad at the Senate Forum—the same Faraway who now lies on his death bed! Further, Kid Prime realizes that his ‘unfinished’ term as leader is directly related to the unfinished plotline bandit, as he also has a chip in his head! The three are able to then theorize that most of these plots began in the late summer ten months earlier, which means the traitor has been around since then—or maybe even before!

Reboot explains that these occurred around the same time that he switched from Sanity or Madness? to Reboot and Kid Prime proposes the theory that if Reboot is the Sanity side of SoM?, then the Madness side may partially be to blame. This theory holds some water among the detectives.

Speculation begins to increase to the identity of the traitor, as Kent Shakespeare suspects Kid Prime , Kid Prime admits that Yellow Kid and the PC Gang are suspects and Reboot and Cobalt Kid maintain a mutual mistrust of one another. The current state of mind of Dark Viviane only serves to heighten this. Suddenly, the animosity of the past couple of months, including the factions that were at each other’s throats during the talk of leadership, once more resurfaces and the LMB begins diving itself.

Kid Prime, Cobalt Kid and Outdoor Miner travel to Castle Faraway via the help of Princess Crujectra and the coordinates provided by Eryk Davis Ester. Kent Shakespeare secretly comes along, believing Kid Prime to be a possible traitor within their ranks.

The Royal Inquisitor once more makes a bold threat against Café Cramer. Princess Crujectra sends a squadron of Psyonian Guards to help guard the Café, seeing as the LMB is spread so thin. Matlock, waiting for the Inquisitor now for some time, sees this as an opportunity to station the guards at Café Cramer and take The Untamed Streets of Legion World , in search of the Inquisitor. There, he is joined by Arachne, recently returned to Legion World and the Office of Security after being away on a mission.

The assault continues on Viviane’s island, as Hrun, Space Tart, Gay Green Giant, Yellow Kid and others search for the Avalonians. However, they cannot locate them. The Red Bee exits and journeys back to join the others.

At Castle Faraway, Cobalt Kid discovers more clues to the identity of the traitor, including a boot print and the notion that the traitor is the one that helped convince the Varangian Guard that Faraway Lad was dead. Outdoor Miner and Kid Prime stage a rescue of Faraway Lad’s body and head back to the Security Office, where Outdoor Miner then has Jailbait Lass seal him off so he can examine the body to see if it is the real Faraway Lad or boobie trapped. Cobalt Kid sets up a tesseract with Stoopid Cat’s technology in case they need to return.

Kid Prime returns to ‘Kid Prime’s Room’ to solve the mystery, and he is joined by Cobalt Kid, as the two begin putting together the clues. He renames his room " Kid Prime\'s Mystery Solving Room "

Dr. One, Dedman and others prepare to save Faraway if they can get him to Medicus One quick enough.

Kid Prime makes a public plea to hand back the mantle of leader to him, as he is the rightfully elected leader. Showing that he had a chip in his head, which caused him to leave, he thanks Yellow Kid for stepping in and now asks for a chance to redeem himself and show how he can be a true leader. He makes mention that once the crisis is past; they will have new elections and a new leadership.

Kent Shakespeare announces to Legion World to fear Kid Prime, creating mass hysteria. Lucien Lad, returning to Legion World, Kid Vudoo, Dedman and Dr. Mayavale speculate.

Part VII: Revelations and Showdowns
Eryk Davis Ester comes across secret information through the grapevine of his hippie army on Greg Evigan Island, regarding the LMB traitor. He rushes to Legion World to tell his comrades.

Matlock explores the streets of Legion World and calls out the Royal Inquisitor. Finally, the Inquisitor answers , and the two have the showdown that has been brewing for some time. After a tumultuous battle, both appear to be at even strength, even with the addition of Calamity Monkey to the battle, who joins Matlock. Finally, Matlock uses some quick thinking and resourcefulness, as he pulls out a ring made of Lavender Kryptonite, which he had created months earlier from the lavender kryptonite sample the Security Office recovered, and uses it to deflect the Inquisitor’s Omega beam. Shortly after, the Inquisitor falls and Matlock drags him off to the prison at the Security Office.

Cobalt Kid has the Security Office sealed off, so the Inquisitor is kept below in the bunkers. However, the radiation being emitted by the Royal Inquisitor after his battle with Matlock is disturbing Outdoor Miner’s experiments with Faraway Lad. Seeing it as their best option, Outdoor Miner seals off the room where Faraway Lad is and shuts it, until a better cure can be found to help him. Cobalt Kid sends the entire Security Staff home except high ranking officers and his intern, Jailbait Lass.

At this point, the forces of Avalon are nowhere to be found, disappearing quite suddenly. The LMB realize this can only bode ill, and the assault team on Avalon, begins preparing to evacuate. Yellow Kid’s team of LMBers returns to Legion World proper.

The struggle for the LMB leadership continues, as Kid Prime and Yellow Kid maintain their claims to it. Quislet, Esq., as Chief Magistrate on Legion World, is asked to step in by many and help resolve it. The growing chaos on Legion World is only heightened by this.

Eryk Davis Ester arrives on Legion World , and joins Cobalt Kid at Kid Prime’s Mystery Solving Room. He says he has new information on the traitor, but by this time, Cobalt Kid has cracked the case. He is about to reveal the identity, when suddenly, both he and EDE are shot through the back!! .

The Red Bee emerges from the shadows, after shooting both LMBers. With an evil grin, he declares he is no longer hiding his true self , and that he has been working against the LMB for well over a year, infiltrating them, and waiting to betray them. His goals appear to be simple and deadly: to forever break their trust among each other, to spread outright terror on Legion World and its innocents and to make sure the LMB always remember him as one of their greatest enemies.

Year Six: The De Facto Yellow Kid & Harbinger Term
Part IV: The Good, the Dark and the Dead (conclusion)

Part VIII: The One Who Betrayed Them All
Cobalt Kid and Eryk Davis Ester lie dying on the floor, as the Red Bee exposes himself as the traitor. He chloroforms Jailbait Lass and kidnaps her, fleeing in the night. His greatest power appears to be that he is undetectable.

Kid Prime enters and is horrified at his findings, as his two friends lie in pain. Jinx and Calamity Monkey enter the scene, snuggling against their dying master, Eryk Davis Ester, hissing and shrieking away at the terror.

The Red Bee invades Medicus One and destroys all of the equipment inside, so that it can never be used to revitalize Faraway Lad, once he is brought back.

The Red Bee takes the kidnapped Jailbait Lass to a cemetery outside of town. There, he digs up a grave under the gravestone “Paula Schultz”, and puts Jailbait Lass inside a wooden coffin, hammering it shut, and then hurls her inside. He then proceeds to bury her alive, to spread terror among the LMB.

The LMB react to the growing terror in shock. Kent Shakespeare, Yellow Kid and Varalent arrive upon the scene, as Kid Prime brings Cobalt Kid and Eryk Davis Ester immediately to Medicus Two , in a secret location, to ensure they get healthy.

The Red Bee assaults Vee’s Variable Villa while he is away, using the fact that the Varangian Guard are no longer there to his advantage, as he kills all the remaining staff that he can find.

Lucien Lad is able to take it no longer and dons his fabulous warfare attire, and mounts his horse, charging into Legion World and attacking any characters he deems suspicious. He notices what looks to be the Red Bee burying Jailbait Lass alive.

The question of who the true leader is continues throughout this, as this issue increasingly tears the LMB apart during this time of immense crisis. Kid Prime and Yellow Kid offer their own reasons why they should be leader and others way in. Yellow Kid calls back Gay Green Giant from the Assault on Avalon, for assistance.

Jinx leaves EDE’s side and journeys to the cemetery, and begins clawing away at Jailbait Lass’s grave. Cobalt Kid, terribly injured, follows her, and sees what has happened. He starts trying to help dig up the grave.

Lucien Lad charges through Legion World whacking all in his way. He eventually begins to use porcupines to sting his way through, using the chaos to draw out any enemies. Kid Prime and some others try to calm him down and stop him, but are unable to. However, he tells them of the Red Bee and the grave.

Kid Prime, Varalent, Yellow Kid and Kent Shakespeare join Cobalt Kid and Jinx and through team-work, are able to rescue Jailbait Lass, who was on the verge of suffocating. Many note that this team work should serve as an example of what’s needed. Cobalt Kid holds the poor young intern, who is in terrible shock, cursing the Red Bee. He brings her to Medicus Two, where she can rest.

At Medicus Two, Kid Prime yells at his good friend Cobalt for leaving his bedside and reopening his wounds. Varalent then uses his power to shrink Cobalt’s wounds, returning him to normal help.

The Red Bee assaults the streets of Legion World , previously tamed by Matlock after he brought in the Royal Inquisitor. A group of children, believing it to be safe, are horribly assaulted by the Red Bee’s swarm.

Kent Shakespeare realizes that destroying some of the hives is the only way to beat the Bee, so he begins blow torching any he can find. He then realizes the massive amount that is around Legion World at this point. Further, he attempts a maneuver with a bus to trap the Red Bee, as well as various other plans which prove unsuccessful.

The Red Bee, seeing the effectiveness of Lucien Lad’s chaos, does a personal attack on Lucien Lad’s property, destroying his statue of Dolly Parton . This act of terror enrages the LMB further.

Outdoor Miner and Matlock join the LMB at large, and are subsequently shocked to learn that the Red Bee, who seemed so heroic, is their true enemy.

The LMB wait for the next strike from the Red Bee and begin a Legion World wide search for him.

Part IX: The Turning of the Tide
Disaster Boy wakes up in his Black Room to find himself immersed in a personnel spiritual journey. He wonders how his friends are, and then proceeds to investigate what is happening to him.

The Emerald Empress, Fat Cramer, Dedman and others join the LMB, who continue searching for the Red Bee.

Kid Prime and Yellow kid continue to battle over who controls the LMB . Many choose sides over this and the debate rages between Gay Green Giant, Kent, Eryk, Cobalt, Reboot, Lucien Lad, Kid Vudoo, Outdoor Miner, citizens of Legion World such as Brainiac 5, and a whole host of others. Cobalt Kid offers the solution that if both declare the other deputy leader and both accept, this would make them co-leaders by proxy and they could finish out the crisis in that manner. Upon seeing Yellow Kid think of this solution as intelligent, Outdoor Miner subsequently believes hell might have frozen over.

A full wide Code Red security alert is sent out among the LMB and Legion World. This is the second one ever on Legion World and it the first since the Dark Stu Saga to ever be used. Cobalt Kid closes the Security Office, and only Outdoor Miner knows where Faraway Lad may be.

Using his triumvirate army at emergency speed, Cobalt Kid has the prison planet Takron-Galtos begins begin its construction in orbit around Legion World, so it can house the prisoners amassed during this crisis.

The Red Bee continues a series of attacks throughout Legion World, attacking innocent citizens and those the LMBP cares about.

Days continue to pass, and the tension mounts. Finally, Yellow Kid and Kid Prime sit down and agree to work things out. Adopting Cobalt Kid’s plan, both become co-leaders for the remainder of the crisis, and begin to straighten out problems among the LMB. With this issue settling, a renewed sense of confidence is instilled in the LMBP.

The Avalonians begin waging a private war outside of Legion World, as the Sorceress Morgause reveals that she turned all of Legion World against the three mages by controlling Viviane and then attempting to gain favor with them so she could take Viviane’s place as Pizzazz once did. After a brutal battle, High Priestess Viviane is restored to her former self, and she, Morgaine and Igraine return to Legion World.

Rumors of a secret potion begin to circulate around Legion World, and this is believed to be a possible cure for Faraway Lad. Kent Shakespeare, Cobalt Kid and others search for the herbs and potions, to learn that Poverty Lad has found a technique that can blend them together into one cure. Poverty Lad creates “Pov’s Pint”, which he is then able to use on the dying Faraway Lad—finally restoring him! Faraway Lad rejoins Gigglebot Girl and the rest of the LMBP, but now he must retake a sip of Pov\'s Pint continually, less he fall back into the deep coma he was once in.

Note for the draft – I actually own a beer with this label, given to me by Pov and Faraway themselves! Such was the awesomeness of this saga, it actually crossed over into real life, as Faraway supplied Kent, Pov and myself with Pov’s pints, while Legion World held their breath! laugh

With Faraway Lad cured, High Priestess Viviane back among the LMBP and the leadership quarrel solved, the final stage begins to be set for the showdown with the Red Bee. The LMBP begin gathering anew, united once more, to decide what to do next.

Part X: Endgame
A restored Faraway Lad and a normal High Priestess Viviane rejoin the newly reunited LMB, under the co-leadership of Yellow Kid and Kid Prime. The Search for the Red Bee begins en masse.

Disaster Boy begins to question who his parents are, as he learns that he is the child of two LMBers from the future (possibly an alternate future that may not yet come to pass). He suspects Eryk Davis Ester, High Priestess Viviane, Cobalt Kid and others, but is unsure.

The Red Bee, however, continues to use cowardly subversive attacks, acting as a terrorist to spread fear throughout Legion World, as those most cared about by the LMBP suffer.

Princess Crujectra senses something wrong in the Embassy, when it is suddenly attacked by an army of red bees, carrying small explosive devices on them. She summons Cobalt Kid through their shared mental link, and he joins her, her brother Crusader and Maxx (who were both visiting since Cobalt and Viv’s wedding). Suddenly, the bees bombs are activated and the Royal Psyonian Embassy explodes.

Just in time, with seconds to spare, Faraway Lad is able to summon the four heroes to his secret hideout inside Horace, the Super Moby Dick of Space. He then attempts to send the LMBers back to Legion World, although there being so many of them, his powers are unable to focus entirely and each one is sent somewhere else.

Back on Legion World, the bee army of the Red Bee continues to attack, hammering away at High Priestess Viviane and Invisible Brainiac outside the ruins of the Psyonian Embassy. Hrun the Barbarian attempts a rescue and Viviane teleports them all to Avalon, where the bees follow.

Princess Crujectra appears at ‘ Crazy Lugiama’s Discount Fashion Shoppe ’, a place where the clothing is very ‘different’ than what she is used to. After a funny exchange, she emerges in slightly altered attire and rushes back to the Psyonian Embassy, where she is joined by Outdoor Miner and Disaster Boy, who enter the fray.

Cobalt Kid appears at the The Giant Statue of Large Handsome , Middlefinger II (from the LMB’s year two). Previously, this had been Middlefinger’s secret HQ, but the LMB confiscated it as part of their battle trophies, and had moved it to Legion World when the move was made, only to have it end up in the jungles of Legion World. The statue was now the home of a lost tribe of gigantic talking gorillas, who lived in the Legion World jungles, as they attack Cobalt Kid! After a quick battle, Cobalt is adopted as an honorary member of their tribe, and returns to the Security Office. He is joined by Matlock and Eryk Davis Ester, and they begin trying to get everyone to rally together. EDE leaves to enact a secret plan, while Matlock prepares for the coming battle.

Faraway Lad appears in hellish tunnels that suddenly lead him to the ‘Disco of the Damned’, a hellish place where disco music and evil mix! Dedman suddenly appears to join him, and the two fight the urge to dress in Disco-ensemble and dance. What appears to be the surviving members of the LMB Experience from 1,000 years ago, Roller Queen and Acid Lad, emerges, as the two beings help Dedman and Faraway Lad find their way back to Legion World.

Crusader and Maxx reappear on Legion World, where they are joined by Igraine and Morgaine, of Avalon. They continue to try and push the bees away, but to no avail. Spellbinder receives a telepathic call from Cobalt Kid to rally at the Security Office, and she extends the message telepathically, as all available LMBers meet there.

The Red Bee even threatens to post the ‘ The Only Pic They Ever Feared ’ in an attempt to lure the Legion World Founders into a trap, but Eryk Davis Ester sees through this. Lightning Lad, however, is irked enough to stand ready.

The heroes rally at the Security Office as the bees attack: Spellbinder, Matlock, Hrun the Barbarian, Invisible Brainiac, High Priestess Viviane, Cobalt Kid, Igraine, Dedman, Faraway Lad, Morgaine of the Faires, Crusader, Maxx, Disaster Boy and Outdoor Miner. Suddenly: The Red Bee attacks!!

The battle with the Red Bee begins , as the bee hammers them with literally MILLIONS of bees! The Sorceress Morgause takes this opportunity to go on a killing spree, causing High Priestess Viviane to leave the battle and battle her. During this time, former LMBer KinetizZoeGreen is murdered by Morgause. Finally, Morgause returns to tip her hat to the Red Bee, but before she leaves, she reveals that it is she, who is Disaster Boy’s mother!

The Red Bee begins taking apart the LMBP one by one with his bees. Hrun leaps at him with the remnants of Cobalt’s pretzel maker and Matlock’s coffee pot, only to be sent away. Matlock suddenly leaps to his rescue, revealing to Cobalt Kid that he has more powers than he ever let on, as a purple energy begins to emerge from him, and he appears younger before their very eyes. Then he drops a bombshell: it is he, that is Hrun’s father.

The Red Bee now joins the fray personally, as he battles Disaster Boy and others. He reveals another power: that of sickly, honey ooze that drips off his hands, creating an immense pain like none other, that of 1,000 bee stings and bullets. He uses this on Disaster Boy, Cobalt Kid and Outdoor Miner, while Igraine, Faraway Lad and Invisible Brianiac are attacked from all sides. He turns to the Princess to make her suffer the most.

Reboot suddenly appears, attempting to save Spellbinder and Invisible Brainiac, the two main targets from harm. The Red Bee is surprised and the two exchange words, the Red Bee taunting him that he can’t save them all. Then, the Red Bee grabs Cobalt Kid and threatens to kill him, waiting to see if Reboot will save a LMBer he clearly does not like. Reboot responds by turning Cobalt once more into a Giant Amoeba, like he was in the Dark Stu Saga, on top of the Red Bee, crushing the villain. This sets off protocols created by Dr. One for such an emergency, as a satellite around Legion World fires at Cobalt turning him back. This change, however, took away Cobalt’s pain and woke him up, causing him to contact the Princess through their mental link, as she contacts Faraway and focuses his powers for him. Faraway, in turn, suddenly teleports The Red Bee and all the LMBP present, including Spellbinder and Invisible Brainiac to EDE’s Greg Evigan Island, as part of the plan. Eryk Davis Ester and Calamity Monkey arrive on the scene.

On Legion World, a bezerker rage induced Hrun goes on a rampage battling Matlock, who he does not realize is his father, through Café Cramer and the untamed Streets of Legion World. Finally, the two falls into the rubble around them, and it is unclear who will emerge.

The LMBP and the Red Bee arrives on Greg Evigan Island and the battle begins anew! Reboot, remembering the Red Bee's taunts, has Viviane, Disaster Boy and Cobalt Kid pour their energy into him, as he unleashes a force to kill all of the bees on Legion World. Meanwhile, Igraine and Morgaine use their spells to make the bees disappear, so that Legion World is finally safe.

The Red Bee continues his assault on an exhausted LMBP, and they begin to falter, as he somehow is able to summon a small amount of more red bees to help him. Finally, as the Red Bee makes one last ditch attempt to destroy Spellbinder, where he is he stopped by a sacrificial Calamity Monkey, who is in turn healed by Cobalt Kid. Matlock and Hrun rejoin them, as Matlock uses his power on the Red bee.

Finally, the battle ends, as EDE shows the Bee how he has no connection to a mass of gigantic bees flying above him. As an elephant sized bee named buzz flies next to EDE, the Calamity one reveals that Greg Evigan Island’s Cotton Fields (one of the seven wonders) directly creates gigantic bees that cannot be mind-controlled. These bees attack the red bees, as well as the Red Bee himself. The LMBers leap into the fray, and battle him too. At last, the Red Bee falls.

Part XI: Epilogues
Picking up the Pieces – The LMBP enjoy a nice drink together, to finally relax and enjoy the victory. As exhaustion and a realization of how long they fought kicks in, they wonder if the Red Bee was working for someone and what his true motivations were. They decide a thorough questioning of the Red Bee is in order. From this day forth, the Red Bee holds a place of terror in the LMB and Legion World’s hearts, which was his goal all along. Although some LMBers have had moments of weakness and evil, only one has ever truly betrayed them: The Red Bee.

Takron-Galtos – With the capture of the Royal Inquisitor, Cobalt Kid and Princess Crujectra had begun building Legion World’s Takron-Galtos, it’s own prison planet, to orbit Legion World, so the LMBP could keep a watchful eye on them. It is completed, filled with a staff handpicked by Kid Prime and Yellow Kid, and its first two inhabitants are submitted: The Red Bee, Legion World’s first true and most terrible terrorist, and the Royal Inquisitor, a murder and psycho. Eryk Davis Ester also visits, reminding the staff that the next step is helping them rid themselves of their criminal ways, and join the path of his army on Greg Evigan Island.

Annulment - In light of recent events, including Cobalt’s wedding to Viviane and Cobalt’s dedication to the Security Office coming before all else, Space Tart files for an annulment , which Cobalt signs. Neither, it seems, was destined for married life at this point, and Space Tart looks ahead to find herself once more. Space Tart removes herself from active status in the LMB.

Leadership – the question of leadership, which had been so prevalent through the LMB’s seventh year, now comes to a close as the co-leaders of Yellow Kid and Kid Prime discuss what is next. Both decide to allow their leadership to formally expire, so that there is no LMB leader. While this topic remains an important and hotly debated one for the LMB, the decide to continue leaderless for a time and see how that works out.

New members – with the close of “The Good, the Dark and the Dead”, Disaster Boy joins the active roster of the LMB, while Gay Green Giant returns to the Primary Color Gang. Calamity Monkey, who had remained quiet since appearing, decides to remain on Greg Evigan Island, though its obvious this decision was a tough one for him. The LMB’s roster is re-filled as many missing LMBers returned to the active roster, such as Space Ranger, Emerald Empress, Pagan Lass, Hrun the Barbarian, Kid Prime, and many others. LMB allies are laid to rest, such as Big Blue Mutha, and former LMBer KinetixZoeGreen is given a proper funeral.

Year Six: The De Facto Yellow Kid & Harbinger Term
Part V: The Good, the Dark and the Dead – Real History

The continuity history aspect of the saga entitled ‘The Good, the Dark and the Dead’ consumes most of the middle chapters of this portion of the history. However, the real history of the event is equally as important and central to LMB lore and the history of Legion World. Beginning around March 2005, the Mission Monitor Board saw the beginnings of the Good, the Dark and the Dead Saga, which started off with an initial bang, but then gradually built up from there. An amazing three and a half months later, circa July 1st, 2005, the saga would come to its conclusion, after being the major event, storyline and ongoing theme of the Mission Monitor Board section of Legion World during that time frame.

The saga itself is multi-layered, and focused on a wide array of LMBers and storylines. More interesting is that it became a useful tool to explain away all the dangling plot threads left over from as far back as the previous summer, as the LMB authors began to see a central interweaving plotline from then until now. The most sterling example of this is that it finally resolved the leadership conundrum of Kid Prime, Yellow Kid, Harbinger and the LMB.

This sense of connecting to dangling plot threads is more than just keeping LMB continuity flowing. There was a genuine sense of re-connecting to past that was becoming less and less recent, after a very real ‘stop’ in the daily flow of posting. Not only had there been a very acute sense of decrease of activity on the MMB, there was also a few events that left posters with a distaste for posting for a time, as they became discouraged over a few incidents that occurred from October to December. “The Good, the Dead and the Dark” then acted as a means of pulling everyone back in and reinvigorating the LMB and the MMB on Legion World, giving it back the sense of endless fun and craziness, and re-creating the sense of enthusiasm. While the GDD Saga raged in the MMB, a whole slew of threads began permeating the MMB once again, as the role-playing activity naturally lead to more non-role-playing activity.

Though any role-playing saga with multiple authors will have its problems (and this one was no exception), the GDD Saga is unique in that it has a very coherent plotline that connects all the way through it, almost despite itself. It not only was able to pull all parts of itself together, as well as the previous ‘disconnect’ of the past few months, but it was able to break the MMB barrier for the first and last time, having its final thread in the Science Police Forum, further heightening the sense of being on a remote location. Surely, that will never happen again.

The moniker “The Good, The Dark and the Dead” was given to the saga by Kent Shakespeare, after I asked what we should call it, when we were about two-thirds through it. It was obvious that it was far different than anyone thought it would be, and the start of the whole thing, the wedding of Cobalt Kid and the High Priestess Viviane, had gone off into some very different directions that ultimately took the story to a much different place than anyone would have thought. Kent’s title is able to encompass the far-reaching aspects of the story, as Faraway Lad lingered on his death-bed for two weeks (while in real life visiting some of his American LMB friends) and ‘Dark Viviane’ was revealed to not be the real villain at all, but a decoy for the first true traitor of the LMB.

At its close, the saga left a revitalized and re-enthused LMB, ready to move forward to a new era, which would be complete with a shot of new blood.
