I thought there was a huge improvement with this week's episode too ... Rebel was predictable but still well done ... wonder what's next for Ali Larter's character ...

No comments on this week's episode? I thought it was the second decent one in a row. Even with the focus shifting back to most of the boring characters (Peter, Sylar, Claire), it was generally entertaining. If it keeps this up, it really could turn out to be a pretty decent season yet! I'm still trying to figure out how the heck Nathan and Claire thought they were safe in Mexico, when they apparently kidnapped Hiro from Japan in the first episode of the season?

Another great episode ... rewatching as we speak ... can't put my finger on why I've enjoyed the last two episodes so much, but somehow the show seems cleaner, less complicated ... I hope it continues in this direction ...

I think having Claire and Nathan together, and Angela and Peter together has helped with the muddly feel of earlier in the season.
The show is no longer forced to show the Claire show, the Peter show, the Nathan show *and* the Angela show (along with everyone else). By teaming some of them up, they can handle their apparently mandatory appearances much quicker, and not drag the show to as many locations and into as many sub-plots.

unfortunately, I have developed a real dislike for Hiro and Ando ... and what was the deal with Matt's son? Last season, he said the kid was someone else's ... this week, he's all like proud papa ... he didn't believe his wife (though she did cheat on him) but he immediately believes Hiro and Ando?

I agree the show has taken a big turn for the better recently! I doubted that even the brilliant Bryan Fuller could turn around the mess that Heroes became, but the evidence is in the last few episodes. There's a clarity and a forward momentum that's been missing from the show since Season One. There's also a sense with the recent deaths that things can actually happen to the characters. I like it! I hope the last three episodes carry this level of quality forward, and if so, that a potential Season Four with Fuller aboard will finally help Heroes live up to its vast potential.

Maybe after getting to such a low point, Matt was all the more ready for something good to happen? Also...cute baby! Can't hurt, right? As for Hiro and Ando, they're Heroes' Artoo and Threepio! When written correctly, they provide often much-needed comic relief. And lately they've been spot-on!

just my opinion, last nights episode was stupid, started out ok and then turned into a waste of space. To introduce a sister thats been out in the desert for 50 years, they have officially ran out of stories.

I agree the sister turning up alive was kind of stupid, but I actually really liked the flashback. In fact, I'm suddenly more interested in the history of the Company than in "present day" events. And at least we finally get some explanation of the highly improbable fact that the existence of people with powers is secret, namely that the Company has been working (using mind manipulation, among other things), to keep it a secret.

At first I was like, 'Oh, the weather controller that the company used to snuff out that hurricane mentioned back in season two!' and then I realized 'Oh, this weather controller was never part of the company...'
Grr. Another loose end bollixed up.

I kinda wanted Uhura (Taskmistresses aunti and Micah's grandmother) to be the weather controller, if only to make it a kind of Storm shout out, having a statuesque African-American weather controller. And didn't papa Deveraux tell Peter that his power was prophetic dreams, back in the day, which was the reason Peter was having dreams of flying and stuff? And now he's just another Matt Parkman wannabe. Gah.

It was like a throwaway line somebody uttered while looking through Company records, but had geeks like me eyes open for the weather controller and various fan-boards speculating whether it was Arthur Petrelli (whose powers we didn't know yet, only that Angela had told Nathan 'your father was very powerful'), Kaito Nakamura (whose powers we still don't know...), Mrs. Nakamura (whose name we didn't know yet and whose powers remain unclear) or someone else.
Man, I miss Eden McCain and Elle Bishop.
Claire has radically improved these last two episodes compared to the last few seasons of 'let me rush in and get captured, because I've mistaken 'can't be killed' for 'useful in a fight,'' and I no longer pray for her grisly demise, but I still miss the female characters who started out with a clue...
Ah, and Mohinder, you'd better get around to forgiving yourself soon, because it's been almost six episodes since you've done something unforgivably stupid, which means that you're overdue!
This 'not Company' is going to need to recruit someone like Matt Parkman or the Haitain if they want to start with the mind-wiping again, it seems, as a couple of flying dudes, a regenerating girl and a woman who sees the future aren't exactly as well-positioned to enact furtive societal change as Deveraux (able to manipulate minds), Bishop (able to create unlimited wealth), Linderman and young Angela were...

I find it hard to believe that in 50 years Angela never had a dream that told her sister was still alive, oh no we have to wait 50 years because it serves a purpose, we as writers dont know what that purpose is but eventually hopefully we the writers will come up with something. I'm really irritated by the waste of an hour i had to go through, grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I didn't really find it all bad. I was especially captivated by the young actress who played Angela at 16. She was really plausible as Angela and had those haunted big eyes and mannerisms. Very good casting! Deveaux and especially Linderman (doing a pretty decent Malcolm McDowell impression!) were good too. The kid who played young Bob wasn't particularly imprssive, though.
The best thing about the episode is we still have a lot of intriguing backstory to explore, and we now have a sense of purpose and direction to the series. And I'd have to say that Angela's sister was much less of a letdown than Sylar's dad was! She'll probably pop up again, and it could be interesting.
Interesting that Arthur Petrelli wasn't in on the ground floor. That's a part of the backstory I'd sure like to see, especially since Angela and Devereaux seemed to have more than a little chemistry.
By the way, the mentions of Elle and Eden remind me that I sure wish they'd bring back invisible man Claude again! I've a feeling this has always been more about the actor and less about the desire of the producers and writers to use the characters again.

I thought the episode was good ... very good, in fact ... I enjoyed the flashbacks, more than the modern day stuff to an extent ... Alice living alone for 50 years seemed a bit much, but this is a show that requires a modicum of suspension of disbelief ... and the Sylar cliffhanger ... predictable maybe, but I'm looking forward to the showdown ...

I've really enjoyed the last few episodes. I just wish Peter would get over whatever it is and get his old powers back. Maybe Baby Matt will fix him as he did Hiro. What can I say? I like Peter!
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

They've gone to great lengths to keep Peter and Hiro from either being the deus ex machina since earlier this season. Fans actually often complained when either one didn't use their powers to get out of sticky situations that their powers would seemingly provide easy outs.
I kinda like Peter only having one power at a time for that reason, personally. I understand it with Hiro as well, but I wish he had more than just the time-freezing. The wheel barrow joke will get old if used too often.

You know... I really wish they'd go ahead kill off Sylar. The character just bores me beyond belief. The Norman Bates-thing last night didn't help at all.
