Any links for the source(s) of all this info? I heard a rumor that they're going "Five years later" with the show, at least for a portion of season 2. Of course, with Hiro's powers, it's possible they might just pull it off.

I watched "Thank God You're Here" last night. It's a show they were trying out after "Deal or No Deal". It's no "Whose Line is it Anyway?", but it did have a nifty promo for what's coming on Heroes. Did anyone else see it?

Watched TGYH but not the commercials. What's the use of having a DVR if you don't skip the commercials?

All right it's finally back on tonight! I've almost forgotten what it's about it's been so long. Wish they'd shown reruns instead of non-stop frackin' Deal or No Deal for the last howevermany weeks. Are there really only 5 episodes left? I hear rumblings about a continuation but has anyone heard anything for certain?
Is that a moon?

I think the promos list it as 5 episodes to the story's end. I am pretty sure the show is coming back next season.

Second season was confirmed months ago. It was the first show, new or returning, that was approved for a new season based on its performance.

Peter is too stupid for this hero game. Unless he absorbs a braniac's power, if he wins, it's pure luck.

Did they retcon Peter's haircut? (and why do I care?)
Mohinder totally had Psyler at his mercy - he should've just killed him right there.

Next week we get to see Linderman's brave new world--5 years later (SOMEONE on that show has to be a Legion fan!). Guess it won't all be coming up roses.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I seem to recall the guy who does this show saying he's not a big comic book fan, but is it possible he hasn't read "Watchmen"? Cuz Linderman was sounding very Ozymandias-like when talking about the deaths in New York serving to unite the world. (which sounds like a really oversimplistic view of the world to me since I don't believe for a second fear would bring the world together)
I also like the allusion to an older "team" in the past that fell apart (also a big part of "Watchmen"). Very intriguing - would the team consist of Linderman, Richard Roundtree (the guy Peter was nursing who died), George Takei and the Patrelli mother? And could either of them have been ones who betrayed the dream for selfish reasons?
And does this mean no more Tim Sale art? Was Sale responsible for the Syler painting as well? Maybe Linderman has a few more in his collection we've yet to see (almost certainly the one Isaac did about how to kill Syler).

I read an interview where they said that what Tim Kring has done is to hire a bunch of huge comic book fans as writers on the show. Now, he himself (supposedly) is neither knowledgeable nor really all that interested in funnybooks. So what tends to happen in the writer's room is he grounds the 'comic book' writing team from going too much off into comic book la-la land. Essentially, what they figure is that if he thinks a plot point is groovy and digs it, then the rest of mainstream America will dig it too.
And I have to say, thus far... well, they haven't been wrong.
Actually, I think the show is fantastic. I hadn't realized how much I had missed it until last night. If the show keeps up this quality into the second season (and that's a BIG if, but anything is possible) we may just be looking at the true apostheosis of this genre we all love so much. Which is a pretty amazing thing.

it was good to have to this show back on. I hope next year they do the 24 thing and just save it until Jan and then run it without repeats or interruptions.
as for story elements, I always like it when a character finds a new way to use his power. HRG telling nuke man how to generate an EMP. brilliant stuff.
Mohinder really has to do a better job of picking allies.
I am probably reading too much into this. but what I found chilling was that Nathan used a piece of glass stained with Peter's blood to open up the painting of him in the Oval Office. talk about stepping over bodies to get to power... and he seemed really comfortable about that .07% death toll.
This show will be so good on DVD. not least of which I won't have to see those annoying ads for the wedding busters.

one other thing. I found it interesting that Linderman has healing powers. I can't recall, but are there any villians that have had that power before?
also, what can momma Petrelli(sp?) do?

"You weren't supposed to die this way" didn't exactly warm my heart either, y'know? Originally posted by DrakeB3004: Did they retcon Peter's haircut? In the cliffhanger for the last episode, they made a point to show Sylar cutting off his bangs along with the incision he was making in Peter's head! Not sure if it was as clear on last night's scene reset.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Nathan's pissing me off again. First of all, he's been wearing the same damn shirt for six episodes, and it's gotta stink by now.
But more importantly, the dude *who put his wife in a wheelchair* just turned out to have healing powers, and gosh, ya THINK he might have said, 'Wait a tic! I'll be your President-flunky, but you have to heal my wife.'
But no. Apparently, he's completely forgotten the whole Heidi's-in-a-wheelchair thing.
Jerk. I liked you better as Jim Profit. You were supposed to be an ass in that one.

I think the references to an earlier, disillusioned group of heroes is a general reference to the idealism of the 1960s and early 1970s, followed by the cynicism and greed of the 1980s and 1990s. Roundtree fits perfectly into that. I imagine at some point we may see more flashbacks to that time, which would be really fun for me. I just don't want to see a reunion tour of the surviving heroes going for $200 per ticket.
It also occurs to me that Linderman may have started Primatech as a way of combating what he saw as his former colleagues' destructive behavior, and it changed over time (as these things tend to do) into a controlling, stifling, murderous organization.
It's interesting that the gangster Linderman has healing powers. The irony seems too heavy-handed to me. Did he gain power because he was unkillable, or could revive fallen comrades. the unwhackable mafia?

They were about to lose me with the whole 'WATCHMEN' riff there, but I'll hang with it for now.
re: Mama Petrelli... my bf thinks she can teleport because of the line "I'll take you there myself" in re: Claire and Paris, France. If so, she'd become an instant fave of mine!

I doubt that she will be a teleporter, since that's one of Hiro's powers. Hmmmm... maybe she's "Turns-Herself-Into-A-Plane-Petrelli!"

This show will be so good on DVD. not least of which I won't have to see those annoying ads for the wedding busters. By the time Nathan uses the glass shard, Peter is alive again. I also don't buy the "whole world rallying around such a disater" scenario. I don't see that working in reality. But even if such a ploy was possible, you are left with the moral dilemma. Is it right to take an innocent life in order to save another? Will Nathan & Mama Petrelli save Heidi and the two sons by having them leave New York before the blast or should they remain and allowed to take their chances? I wonder if Mama Petrelli's power is freezing ala Polar Boy? Nathan did say something to Claire about her "warming up" and then saying "not really" or something like that. I also agree about the real wedding crashers. To paraphrase the old NBC tagline, it is Must Avoid TV.

Hmmmm... maybe she's "Turns-Herself-Into-A-Plane-Petrelli!" well, aren't Hiro's powers more about teleporting through time. the first time he went to New York, I thought it was a day or two(not counting time zone difference) since Ando had seen him. even when he saved that school girl, he slowed down time and teleported away afterwards. If Mama Petrelli can teleport, perhaps her power will be more along the lines of: think of a set of coordinates and you are there same time and day(accounting for time zone difference). So he's already "absorbed" Polar Boy/Girl. Besides maybe the Petrelli boys' power comes from the daddy (who I hear will be part of season two) and not mommy.

I was thinking that Linderman might be a lot like Ra's al Gul (or Brother Blood). After so many trips to the healing lava he gained self-healing powers. Remember when Gates took off an arm?

Obviously she doesn't have super shoplifting powers or she wouldn't have gotten caught that time. However, it may be a clue.

I wonder if the similarity of Claire's and Linderman's powers might indicate that he's really Nathan's father...
