Y'know, I'm not sure that Sylar's one of our cast anymore. I mean, what we saw kinda looked like Nathan or Peter, but not really. I think it's now more likely that he's another actor. Either way, we're supposed to find out next week according to the preview.
Oddly enough, what we saw of his face in the ep and of his voice in the preview made me think he's being played by Nicholas Brendan (Xander of Buffy fame). I'm probably totally wrong, though!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Did you guys know that <span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">Christopher Eccleston</span></span> is joining the cast as a regular, with powers, in January?
Also <span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">Niki's special powers are answered in next week's episode. Niki had a sister named Jessica who died a horrible death.</span></span>

tonight's episode was good. a few observations: the cop: does he have trouble passing the detective exam due to picking up on the anxious thoughts of all the other test takers. at first I thought dyslexia, but then he had to pass a written exam to get on the force, right? still not sure about nicki/jessica. I guess she's like that girl from Doom Patrol. the one with different personalities that had different powers. Hiro: the girl was going to die either way. wonder what that means for the explosion in New York? I want to see Lendermen at some point. Sylar. wow, we finally see what makes him tick.

Great episode.
Really cool scenes with Sylar. I know all of us were probably thinking within seconds 'that's gotta be Sylar' before he even got a word in!

Sylar's powers are awesome. Now we know why he likes to cut people's heads open.
I love Claire. Is it just me, or does she just nail every scene she's in? The camera really loves her.
Niki needs to wrap up her storyline and get on board with the rest of the story currently unfolding.
White. A blank page or canvas. His favorite. So... many... possibilities.

I Still don't get why Niki is a hero instead of someone with a split-personality. The Hiro scenes were heart-breaking.

It seems as though the Jessica personality is able to access powers that Nikki can't (enhanced strength and stamina). I mean, she threw her husband across the room a couple of weeks ago, and then last night it seemed like she lifted her father off the floor with one hand.

So did Sylar absorb Charlie's aneursym? Might that be a harbinger of Sylar's eventual demise in the series future?

When I read the preview of the episode, I was all, "Great-- a flashback when what we really need is to advance the story."
As it turned out, it was my favorite episode to date.
I really, really liked Charlie and wanted her to be a regular. What an awesome and useful power she had.

What I mostly thought about Sylar was:
1. Looks like Clark Kent. 2. The 'watchmaker' thing is an allusion to Dr. Manhattan. 3. Does he eat the brains to get the superpowers? Sort of like Deadhead in the Wild Cards books? Or what's the deal there?
I'm also wondering now just what powers he's picked up. He's got:
Telekinesis (which he got from the first guy, and which he uses to slice people's heads open and throw locker doors around and stuff)
Some kind of freezing power
Some kind of invulnerability power that lets him stand up and run away after getting shot or falling off an amphitheatre
Charlie's quick-learner power
Am I missing anything?
I've speculated elsewhere that a fight between Peter and Sylar should be a really awesome thing to behold, because Peter should be able to use all Sylar's powers. But we didn't get to see it too much in that one episode.

note:
If I'm not mistaken, the actor playing Sylar recently starred in SO NoTORIous* on VH1 as Tori Spelling's GBF (gay best friend).

Sylar definitely had a Clark Kent-vibe going on.

I wonder why Hiro was so convinced about his conclusion? Does he think he was shunted back to present-day because time 'made' him go back? Is he acknowledging that because Charlie had the aneurism, it was pointless to try again? Before he was shunted back, it sure seemed that he and Charlie were determined to beat it somehow. So I'm a little perplexed.
But that origami scene sure was beautiful, eh?

hmmm interesting about if he paints the future or possible future, because everything but the nuclear explosion came true. Even the picture of the dead cheerleader, but of course not the cheerleader we thought would die.

Ok I think that Jessica actually lives in the mirror like Mirror Master and swaps places with Nikki. Weird I know, but isn't there always a reflective surface around.

My idea is that Jessica is not actually Jessica, but a manifestation of Niki's powers based on (and this is all my speculation) Niki using Jessica as her 'higher power' in Alcoholics Anonymous. I think the mirror thing is just a detail, a neat trick that the show is doing.

Okay, are we to assume that Sylar somehow takes the powers from the brains of the heroes he kills? Is that a power? Did Chandra know what Sylar's power would be, and wouldn't tell him? I also really wish that Chandra's ability to pinpoint these people would be explained. It is a major plot hole so far.
You can't change the past. Well explained.
I would think that "Jessica" is not actually the sister but another side of Niki, unable to deal with the past and unable to control the power.
I kinda loved Memory Lass. Too bad.
Should I recognize the name LLad spoilered?

I think Sylar cuts open the people to dissect their brains, and figure out what exactly is "wrong" with them to cause their particular power. I think he can then psionically recreate the abnormality in his own brain to gain the power. But that's just a guess As for Nikki, I think there was a Jessica, who perhaps in life was her protector. After her death, I think the split personality developed as a way for Nikki to protect herself, and that personality can access powers that Nikki currently cannot.

I thought it was of the nurse, but I've only seen three or four episodes so I can't keep it all straight yet.
