Speaking of the cost of the wedding I think HM paid for the ceremony out of her own money nothing came from the civil list. I think the Govt paid for security and provided the troops etc.

In terms of cost it probably brings in more than it costs because there seems to be a lot of people interested and willing to pay to read/watch stuff like this. All in all though it was probably a lot cheaper than a full presidential visit to any heads of state meeting anywhere. For an example anyone know how much the two airforce one planes cost per annum? Howabout the cost of the Saudi Royal yacht?

As for me I managed to avoid almost all of the wall to wall coverage. Personally can’t see the point of hours of talking heads. Just show the wedding and then let us get on.

Still, gave me an opportunity to go on a pacification mission into the Scottish marches.

the TV rights/advertising, merchandizing, and tourism revenues alone would have generated a king's ransom. It just depends on how the money flowed.

But from a Keynsian point of view (albeit on a small scale, for a nation-state's budget), it would certainly have been a greater positive than negative.

there are worse ways to entertain the masses.

Princess Beatrice gets the last laugh. Her hat is being auctioned for charity. Current bid = $30,000.

New insight:

Fergie was on Piers Morgan the other night. She reported that since she was banned from the wedding she had to help her girls dress over Skype. She convinced Eugenia to cut a couple inches off her feather, but Beatrice wouldn't show her hat. Fergie doesn't think she could have done anything with it any way.

Now we know.
