I really enjoyed tonights episode, completely Desmond and i knew what would happen or roughly what would happen which made it very cool.

It was a great episode. The heavy continuity appealed to the Legion fan in me.

Desmond episodes are always enjoyale. Seeing him and Widmore on good terms was a bit creepy. But the connection between him and Charlie still holds, even in the Sideways.

I'm a little more sure Widmore is working towards a final solution to UnLocke. The electro-magnetic talk this week has to lead to something.

Eloise, Daniel, even Daniel's mention of Charlotte- all nice tie backs to the show's history.

So now Desmond's going to "get the old gang" back together?? To do what?

And what does Daniel think he knows about the nature of the Sideways world? Why would there be an element of wish fulfillment in an alternate timeline? (getting Daddy Widmore's approval) Is the Sideways more than what we think it is? (the whole thing is Walt's dream...)

I liked the episode a lot; like Ceej said, Desmond's episodes are always very good.

For the first time so far, I felt like the sideways plot was moving and had a point.

The Desmond/Penny romance, which is my absolute favorite of the show, was also in full effect and underplayed just right to keep me totally invested in it.

Daniel knows this about the sideways world, he has seen the original universe and has seen what is missing from his life in the sideways, and knows like charlie that this is not the way it is supposed to be.
Apparantly Eloise also knows about the sideways universe and wants Desmond to stop, is it because she loves her life as it is because she is still married. Its possible that she saw her life with Whidmore collapse in the original universe and also possibly saw that she shot her own son.

She also said Desmond's not ready "Yet", implying she may still be on-side, but knows that some of the Sideways stories need more progression before Desmond pulls back the curtain.

Great episode and once again "the game changer."

I believe that things are going to go much faster from here on out.

also with Eloise, in the episode Flashes before my eyes(or your eyes?) When desmond came into the store to buy the ring, she said youre not supposed to buy the ring, your supposed to go to the island and you have to push the button or we all die. Eloise in my opinion knows the timelines, maybe has seen play out many times, but she knows about the original timeline and the sideways one, just as she knew that desmond buying the ring wasnt supposed to happen. IMO.

I'm quoting this from another messageboard (Barbelith), but I thought it just made so much sense, and supports your point above:

"When Faraday died he had his journal on him, Eloise read the journal, and she kept it. The timeline split when Jughead went off... Daniel's journal survived the dimensional rift, and Eloise has information that happened in the original timeline."

Wow! Didn't see that coming. I guess they won't be blowing up the plane.

I at first didnt like the episode but as it progressed it got a lot better, and finally the answer to the what the whispers are.

Mixed bag episode (though more good than bad). I think a lot of this was "moving pieces to the correct location" type exercise to set up the confrontation next episode.

And the "mute" Sun thing is already unbearably stupid and seemingly pointless. Hope they drop it soon.

I have to admit, I was a little "Meh" about the nature of the whispers. After six years of puzzling about all sorts of crazy sci-fi inspired reasons for them, to find out it was something fairly cliche was a bit disappointing.

This was the first episode where the flashsideways was a lot better than the main storyline.

I'm still not sure why they'd be associated with the presence of the Others, however.

The death was unexpected, as I thoroughly expected that person to be the one shot in the eventual outrigger confrontation with the time lost group.

I'm not sure what's going on with Desmond. Clearly he must know a lot more than he's letting on, but what?

The whispers thing sheds some light on why Walt was special though.

Desmond in the Flash Sideways is great. Wait till Locke "remembers" and has Ben standing right over him...

Read an interesting theory that Desmond hit Locke so he would need to get the spinal surgery from Jack after all and that the stressful surgery (maybe the same complication described in the Pilot) would wake JACK up, not Locke.

Or both.

How so? I'm trying to think... the only time I remember a Walt/whisper connection was when he was appearing to Shannon back in season 2. (Which kind of begs the questions as to why the whispers would appear at that point anyway, considering that he wasn't dead).

There in lies why Walt may be special...in that he was able to project himself without being dead. Just a thought as to why he could appear, and why the "Others" wanted im.

i dont understand, walt showed no indication that he could project himself or the show has never even hinted that walt could do that, so i dont really understand what makes walt so special.

I'm actually pretty skeptical that we'll get any answers about Walt at all. I think that element may be something that was never thoroughly thought out or may have ended up just not fitting in that well to the bigger picture. I could be wrong, though (or we might just get a quick throwaway line like we did with the whispers).

they have let Walt disappear for so long, his character no longer matters.

I actually suspect that they were testing Walt as a potential candidate or something like that.
