yeah,Darkman was based on The Shadow(i think there's even a new Darkman comic book series coming out this year, from one of the smaller publishers[it's not by Marvel or DC]) i actually liked the 1994 Shadow movie. probably because i'm a big Shadow fan

Good stuff!

If they do it right (as in, unlike the short-lived Marvel Darkman comic), it could be great. Thanks for the news, Kara.

For live action, Smallville is pretty good... but I seem to remember an old Justice League show from the 70's or early 80's that was live action... or did I just dream that? Doc, might you be referring to this? http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/comics101/117.html For me, it would be JLU (actually any Timmverse toon) and Smallville with a healthy nod to The Greatest American Hero. I think we should restrict this discussion to TV shows; we can start another thread for movies if we want. (That said, I liked both Sky High and Spider-Man II, but not as much as I liked The Incredibles, which to me is the finest superhero movie ever made.)

The late 80s-early 90s Superboy show was a guilty pleasure for me, particularly in the first season when the title role was played by John Haymes Newton. He was a little wooden, but he had sort of a bad-boy air about him that no Superman portrayer before or since (except under the influence of Red Kryptonite or some such) has had.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I agree. That opening sequence is a mini-masterpiece unto itself.

Yes she did. She was the principal of Sky High. There was even a WW joke, IIRC. I think she either twirled or started to twirl and wondered "why was I about to do that?" I've got to go watch it again, but it was a funny inside joke to WW fans, whatever it was exactly. If I find the answer, maybe I'll post it in a new "Superhero Movies" thread.

It was paired with "Isis", IIRC.

Batman: the Animated Series blew my mind.
It was just so good in every aspect. I remember week one:
- the Mr. Freeze story. By far the greatest interpretation of the character ever. So dark and foreboding, so tragic, so powerful.
- 2-part Clayface story: by the end of this it was pretty much 'Holy Shit! This is awesome!' Bruce Wayne as actually Bruce Wayne, Alfred, supporting cast, Clayface, the noir feel...
- Possibly the best of all the episodes, with two brothers, one a Priest and the other a mob boss...this actually made my Dad sit down and watch, and then think about it for days on end.
It was just so good!

Hey, I noticed no one has mentioned "Misfits of Science" yet! (You know, with a pre-Friends and pre-Family Ties Courtney Cox...)

"Misfits of Science" was, no joking, one of my favorite shows in junior high. My family lived in South America at the time, and it was shown a couple years after it had been cancelled in the States. And they showed the whole run (16 episodes?) two or three times. Just thinking about the theme song gets me dancing. God, I wish that show was on DVD.

As long as we're confessing stuff, I actually liked Misfits too... (at the time, but I was at an impressionable age myself).

The last time I saw a "Misfits of Science" episode was only a few years ago, when I rented a video of the pilot episode from Blockbuster. I enjoyed it just as much as I did back in the day.

God-dammit...Im going to have that song in my head for weeks now. "You'll never see...my secret Identity"
Remember : It's not technically a suckerpunch if you yell ''DEFEND YOURSELF SPROCKER!'' two seconds before you let him have it.
