Wow! Wikipedia says it was S3, Ep 21 for ol' Reg's first appearance!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Lash --- It gets way better than season 1, I think it starts to tak eoff at the end of 2 and 3 on is pretty cool.
I wouldn't say it gets more like TOS though. I would say it gets less like TOS as the series goes on .... in some ways.
TNG is more political and universe building with some great great mystery and action episodes ...
I love 'Encounter at Farpoint', (the first two episodes) so much more after watching the next seven seasons and especially the series finale 'All Good Things'.

[/b]Nope, they never tied the two together on that show. Everyone keeps saying that the "Squire Of Gothos" episode was the first appearance of the Q but I don't think this is true Star Trek canon. I think this is just pure fan speculation.

Well as of the recent movie, the only canon appearances of Q were on Star Trek: Enterprise, if there were any there.
No, I take that back, that movie leaves everything else intact in canon as "the original timelime".
Anyway, I'd also be surprised if Trelane was canonically a Q, for one thing they don't use names do they?
But back to my question, even just in fandom, I wonder if the X-folk (just looked up the ep, they're called Thasians) were ever connected to the Q. Seems to make as much sense as Trelane's parents.

Well I have just met Lwaxana Troi. That was quite an experience. Even though she's insufferable, I can tell already that I am going to just love her. I knew from the moment the blonde chick appeared on the monitor that Wyatt was going to be going over there to the plague ship. I'm glad; I find the concept of arranged marriages to be horribly dated even now, never mind the time ST: TNG is set in. I do hope Wyatt finds a cure for them though. I feel badly for his parents. Yeah I can totally see the whole Q/Squire of Gothos connection thingie. I remember even thinking how "Squire of Gothos"-ey the series priemere was (although I didn't find it quite as enjoyable as the original S/o Gothos episode). I think I'll watch another episode before bed.

FYI:
The SyFy channel is airing a block of original series movies. STV: The Final Frontier is on right now. STIV: The Voyage Home and STVI: The Undiscovered Country were on earlier.

Lwaxana matures as a character over the years, with each appearance becoming more and more wonderful, imo. She was on Deep Space Nine once or twice, IIRC, and those were fantastic, too. I've read quite a number of ST and NG books in those two series of publications. It was a while ago, though. sigh

Data's brother Lore was a real super-asshole of space! What a space-jerk! He's been my favorite villain so far, and you can't keep a good villain down, right...?
And once again boy genius Wesley figures out everything and knows everything and no one listens to him. *yawn* That's gonna get stale, fast. It was amusing seeing Picard tell him to shut up, though.
That's 3 winning eps back to back... the plague ship/Troi's mama episode, the Dixon Hill/holo-deck ep and now "Datalore'.

4 winners in a row... I enjoyed 'Angel One'.
A planet where the dudes are all adorable open-shirted twinks and the big strong chicks do all the work? Awesomesauce!
Plus Riker (in open shirt!) got to tap Beata all Kirk-style! You go, Riker!
I also enjoyed the sub-plot with the infection onboard the Enterprise. Yeah, this one was good and I'm glad the matriarchy wasn't overturned all Thora-of-Taltar style.

Another good one... 5 in a row, season 1 took some time to really click with me but it appears it has.
I liked the Bynars (IMO there should be more alien personnel on the ship), but I have been suspicious of the advanced holodeck for awhile... just-about real creations like perfect-for-Riker Minuet are just asking for trouble. The holodeck deosn't need to be that wonderful... I mean, if I got in there and it got in my head and made my desires "real", well, who would ever want to leave?

you know if i were Wesley, after awhile i would've had such a meltdown on the Bridge and told Picard to STFU,..i've saved your miserable arses quite a few times and still this is the respect you give me?? then one by one i would've told off all the command staff that ever dismissed me for being "the boy". as much as i wasn't crazy about Wesley, it was aweful how he was treated sometimes.

Cryptic, Mystery Lad... very very cryptic! yeah John the first like 12 eps have seen Wesley suffer some crap treatment (as well as some good treatment) but it finally seems like as of the Bynars episoide they are finally showing him a bit of overdue RESPECT cpnsidering how many times he has come in handy. Personally I'm of the opinion that children shouldn't be on these spaceships at ALL, but I do understand why they are there.

Yeah, it kinda freaks me out that I have taken 20-plus years to see these. "When the Bough Breaks" continued the good-episode trend... timely too, as I had just said above that I didn't think kids should be on the ships... Let's watch another one, shall we?

What's weird to me is that the effects and stuff that seemed so mod and updated back in the day seem about as as cheesy as the original now!

Not quite as chessy, more like lite cheese or something. But I do know what you mean! At least with Next Gen you can see a distinct and dramatic improvement in special effects from season 1 to season 7. If you watch season 1 in its entirety and then watch season 7 you'll be like, wtf??? Is this the same show? I've done it. It's quite a hoot!

Yay! Just when I was lamenting the fact that having Capt. Picard remain on the ship most of the time prevented any of the other crew from ever stepping up to command (I always enjoyed seeing how Spock, Scott and others handled it on TOS), along comes 'The Arsenal of Freedom' episode... Geordi did very well! OK I'm pretty into TNG now.

Well, I know a couple of drug-addicted country boys of space when I see them, so the revelation about felicium was no surprise. Still, the "dealer planet/addict planet" was one of the more interesting themes I've yet seen on any Trek episode.
I also appreciated the information about the prime directive. I'll have to remember that.

Oh NOOO!!!
just when I was warming to Lt. Yar, they kill her off!! I couldn't believe it--!!
And what a send-off they gave her... after her holo addressed everyone at the funeral, I was in tears. I still can't believe they did it...
I *HATE* that Armus creature for this!!
Deanna Troi was fantastic throughout the episode and has definitely catapulted to my favorite character on the show.
Data and Beverly Crusher are way up there too. I guess I love all of 'em now... I'll miss Tasha.
