Any of you know that the guy who did Jay's voice is the same guy who did Lightning Lad's? I thought he sounded familiar but I couldn't place it.

Trails of the Demon was really good ... Bats in 19th century garb was cool, very Gotham by Gaslight ... The Aquaman/Ocean Master episode was good too ...

I watched Trails of the Demon on Youtube. I liked the use of Jim Craddock. The thing I diidn't like was making Sherlock Holmes appear jealous.

I was ready for a kiddie Batman, but I've really enjoyed the depth of the storytelling so far. Most fun 30 minutes on television, and that includes 30 Rock.
The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
Don't judge me!

Hah! Cool.
Jay was great. I'd love to see more JSA woven into the DC toonverse.

Tonight, we had Bat-Mite (for real) and a surrealistic review of 1950's Batman, a spoof of other Batman costumes (60's TV Show: "too camp", Frank Miller: "too psycho"), and an interlude with a 5th dimensional comic convention to decide if mutant easter bunnies are too over the top (fan: "That's not MY Batman"). All written by Paul Dini, with Bat-Mite voiced by Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman). Villain highlights: Polka-Dot Man, Calendar Man, Zebra Man. Oh, and I almost forgot: Catman and his tiger versus -- Ace the Bathound!
The whole episode is a huge gift to long-time fans, and its meta-commentary on whether B:B&B is "Batman" enough really makes this episode a keeper. What works so well about this show is that they keep Batman true to character -- grim, determined, bad-@$$ -- while using the guest stars to vary the setting and introduce comedy and elements from various Batman eras. Catch this episode if you can.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I've enjoyed 90% of the run so far. Lots of neglected characters from the comics are making really good appearances here. Which we got more than Joker, Ra's and the latest 'it' villians in the books. DC has a wealth of characters sitting around collecting dust.
Just look what Robinson did with ragdoll and how he's being featured now.

I have no idea what the writers were thinking when they wrote The Tornado Family Reunion Snooze Fest episode. Bats was little more than a background figure while Red and Red jr. occupied the screen most of the time.
My only fascination with Red Tornado has been to wonder whether or not Ma Hunkle ever really did anything to be considered a Golden Age super hero, I've never really cared for the robot/android/mechanical man.
..and for the record I really hated the cheezy bad-anime style look of the Tornado Tyrant.

Anyone else see the ad for a Kamandi episode?
Kirby's 4th World fans had better be in on this, finally some Kirby inspired animation besides that awful "Super Powers" stuff.
For the record, I'm not a Kirby fan but I'm looking forward to this one anyway. How fun!

I didn't like the Jonah Hex episode. Just knowing the Jonah was the costar, I was not liking it. Then to put Jonah into an alien (and to him futuristic) setting just was wrong.

Well, Jonah did spend time in the future in the comics, but if you didn't like it, you didn't. Haven't seen it yet. I did see a preview, and Morris did a great job on the voice, I thought.

OK, it was cute. More time travel and Gorilla Grodd. Post apokalypse sci-fi can be so weird. The Bat Cave angle was a bit of a surprise and I did like the Bat-people so even my non-Kirby fanboy self was amused.
My only real gripe is: Does Dr. Canus have to be such a doofus? I don't remember him being comedy relief in the books but then I didn't buy very many so it might be consistent for all I know.
I really liked the beginning though, I'd like to see a lot more of Mr. Miracle and Big Barda. (ok, I'm contradicting myself but those are two Kirby characters that I DO like)

my little nitpicky complaint: are they trying to convert Batman into either Waverider or Rip Hunter, the time traveler? stay in Gotham City - that's where Batman should be at.

This was clearly a Kirby/Planet of the Apes homage. There were "get your hands off me, you damn dirty ape" lines throughout the whole episode. For some reason, the heavy, static Kirby look bothered me -- and normally I'm a Kirbyphile. Kamandi's hair -- just not workin' for me. Civilization has collapsed, but he has an unending secret stash of extra-hold hair products? I did like the freeze-frame close-up splash page fight panels though. Nice touch.
Having said that, the writers do at least 2 things that show them to be good writers and not just post-modern snarky homagers. First, they have Gorilla Grodd travel into the future to command the ape men. A simple and brilliant idea. I can't believe it never happened in the comics. Second, the man-bats of the future batcave, and the way they end up in allegiance with Batman after he kicks their butts. That's a perfect extension of both the Batman mythos and the Kamandi mythos.

Oh, the superboymdjr, I think the point of the show is that they can put Batman ANYWHERE and he will still be Batman. Which is a nice twist that keeps Batman relatively "pure" while allowing just about any plot possible. I think the creative team learned from Morrison's JLA and Waid's Brave and the Bold how to do this effectively.

I liked this one much more than the Jonah Hex episode. But I agree that they should really limit the time travel & sci/fi (aka outer space) elements.
I'd like to see a Metal Men episode.
