Yeah, while you're at it can I put in an order for a Jim Kelly clone? Better throw in a Thurman Thomas too if you have a little clone batter left over.

Well...

- The Packers lost again. Sigh. I had a bad feeling going into this season, and still have it now. I just wanted Favre to have one more great playoff run. There still my faves, no matter how they do!

- The Steelers, my other favorite team, seem to be doing unbelievable. And my favorite running back, the Bus, needs a solid ring on his finger before he retires too. Great game on Sunday, glad to see them dominate.

- Watched the Giants last night, and they played great. 2-0 for the first time in a few years, and I think they'll remain dangerous. Eli Manning seems to be coming into his own. McAllister fro the Saints is awesome to watch too.

- The yawn fest that was the Redskins/Cowboys left me high and dry. Of course, don't really have much use for either team, so I guess that has a little to do with it...

Still, too early to be making bold predictions, but I think the Titans and Bengals will be deadly all year.

Loser Lad, don't forget Andre Reid and Bruce Thomas. smile I always rooted for the Bills though. The story with Kelly and his son made me very sad. I've been following since he was born.

Also Loser Lad the dents in the cadillac comment was priceless...but too bad he is shiny as ever. smile It was a good game. Lots of Bills fans at the game (some cute girls in Buffalo).

Space Ranger my gf is a medical pro. A vetrenarian (sp?). She's the brains in the outfit. I'm close enough to a dog for her to be my doctor. wink Thanks man.

Hunter Kelly (Jim Kelly's son, who recently passed away after a long battle with Krabbe Leukodystrophy) was a fighter. He lived longer than anyone thought he would when he was diagnosed as an infant. While it's certainly sad that Hunter finally passed, it wasn't really much of a surprise. Hunter's struggle did a lot to raise awareness of Krabbe disease, and Hunter\'s Hope , the charity that Kelly founded in his son's name, has done a lot to raise money towards finding a cure. There have been some advances made recently towards understanding and curing the disease, due in part to the money Hunter's Hope has raised.

There are a lot of transplanted Buffalonians in the Tampa area. Unfortunately (for us at least) there are quite a few cute girls among them, and most of them aren't coming back. frown

Well, I watched the NFL all Sunday (plus Thursday & Monday too), so we might as well get into that too! I don’t love the NFL like I do College Football, but I’m still pretty into it. Here’s some random thoughts on random teams:

(1) Green Bay Packers – this is my team, since I was a wee lad. Though for almost ten years it was pure pleasure to watch a Packers game, these last three or so years have been rough. Favre is like a hero to me. Ahman Greene too (I have his jersey). So it was a pleasant surprise to see them pull of a win in the last two minutes on Sunday morning. That totally got my day going and may have invigorated me for the entire season. Favre was as ballsy and courageous as ever, but also showing some restraint on his craziness. The man is simply beyond experienced at this point—he’s doing things with his presence of mind that are leaving the rookies wondering what day is it.

(2) New York Giants – I also like the Giants, mainly b/c most of my family and friends do and after twenty years I root for them too. I have to say that Eli Manning played great finally—but then go hurt. I can’t stand their wide receivers and I think Strahan looked like he ran out of gas midway through he second quarter, so at this point, it ain’t looking pretty for them.

(3) New England Patriots – pure domination. While the Jets can’t seem to get it right, the Patriots seem to be continuing their show of excellence. Forget about the whole video controversy. I don’t give a crap about it—you’re telling me all the NFL teams aren’t doing that stuff? That’s sports. And its not like it mattered when it comes down to how well the Patriots dominated the Jets. Brady is a pleasure to watch and we might actually see Randy Moss become a likeable player to go along with his enormous talent.

(4) Cincinnati Bengals – I’ve been waiting for Carson Palmer to ‘arrive’ in the NFL, and I think this will be his season. Last year he showed what he can do and it reminded me of his college days, but now with the Bengals being so far removed from their 10+ years of being the laughing stock of the NFL, this should be a blast to watch.

(5) Steelers / Browns – man, talk about pure domination. Looks like Big Ben is healthy again and the Steelers are back in pure form. It’s a shame that Coach Bill was forced out last year. Immediately, commentators and writers are wondering when Brady Quinn will play. The Browns would be nuts to have him come in before at least week 8. The Browns offensive line is atrocious.

(6) Colts – Just a pleasure to watch. Pure domination.

(7) Chargers – I’m surprised at how ineffectual they seemed on Sunday, given that its obvious how talented and ferocious they are. I can’t help but feel that will change by Week 2 and the Chargers will be on the same level as the Pats and Colts, as probably the three elite NFL teams this year.

(8) The Bears – I’m still scratching my head at how they made it to the Super Bowl last year. Urlacher remains a favorite of mine since I was a teenager, but Rex Grossman just *feels* like a little pretty boy to me, which I absolutely hate. Not as bad as Arizona’s Leinert, but up there.

(9) Dolphins – shame to see them lose since one of my best friends and the most knowledgeable guy I know in regards to football is a Dolphins fan. Zack Thomas is bad-ass though! He’s got to be leading the league in tackles, or close.

(10) Texans – whoa! Have the Texans finally turned things around? I’m interested. Caught the highlights and box score only, but it was definitely surprising.

(11) Cowboys – I don’t hate the Cowboys like many, but I have no desire to see them win. T.O. being on the team does little to help that. Hard to understand why so many people predict them to be great this year when their defense still isn’t showing anything at all.

(12) Arizona / 49ers – of all the games to end week 1 of the NFL, why this one? Since this was probably the most boring game of week one, I ended up skipping it completely. I’m not sure which team I’d like to see lose more. I was hoping for a 0-0 tie.

Damn Baltimore! Damn McNair! If it wasn't for the Ravens' defensive team I would have lost both of my fantasy games this week.

Argh the Bucs lost! They really looked bad. The defense doesn't have the same explosion and the offense sucked! I mean Gruden is suppossed to be an offense guy and we haven't been able to score touchdowns??? argh!

Hey! The Panthers looked pretty good Sunday against St. Louis!

The whole team looked pretty shaky in the preseason all around the table, but I guess they were saving it for the show!

I was especially impressed with what the defense did to Stephen Jackson--WOW!

Is Carolina ready to contend again this year? I hope so!

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Still couldnot believe how stupid and too many mistakens that Arizona Cardinals made against SFers last night! Arizona should have won the game but nope. 49ers got lucky and made a TD in less than one minute and won the game. *arrggggghh*

I watched the last half of the Bengals game last night, and I found myself quoting Superboy - "Crashing comets! What a narrow escape!"

I got a fever, and the only prescription... is more Gradkowski!

Blockade Boy, I'm a Gradkowski fan personally though I was excited about Jeff Garcia. I was thinking he can learn under Garcia and take over next year.

What about the Bills/Broncos? Denver scrambles to kick the winning field goal at the very last second! It's painful to lose when it's so close! (and then of course there's Everett -- let's hope he manages just to be able to walk again)

The prognosis on Everett is looking a lot better today--thank goodness.

Gonna be in New York for the Giants / Redskins game - which is unfortunately at Washington.

Can anybody recommend a good sports bar to watch the game in?

Hm...I can't think of one specifically off the top of my head Numf, but you'll find a whole bunch just by walking around just about anywhere.

There are some great sports bars by Madison Square Garden (around 7th Avenue and 34th St.). Any one of them will be rocking and rolling during the game.

Cheers Drake - that looks spot on.

We're planning to spend the first part of the day at the south end of Central Park - our hotel's on 57th Street - so it's not too far from where we'll be.

arrgghh!!!! cannot stand seeing Broncos and SF 49ers winning those games today!!! they are the most luckiest teams in the whole NFL right now. 2-0 each and their points are not that great - they both got squeaked by today. Denver won OT against Raiders (Mike you are dirty!! indeed!! calling a TO during the FG...tsk tsk) and Rams missed the FG just a few inches away from the pole making 49rs the winner. *groan*

I am hoping that both of that teams lose the games next week!

I'm pretty shocked at some of the games this week! Honestly!

First - Detroit 2-0? Good gravy!

Cleveland beats Cinncinnatti? Wa-wa? With something like 90+ points! I'm pretty high on Carson Palmer and I thought he played superb. He had 401 yards passing. 401!!! But there was little defense in this game.

My Green Bay Packers came through again, though they beat a Giants team that is barely holding itself together. Both New York teams are in for a long season. But the Packers at 2-0 is a good feeling, especially with their rival Vikings, Bears and Lions all not looking to hot (despite Detroit's 2-0 head start).

New England beat the Chargers as I thought they would, although I'm surprised at how thoroughly they did so. The Chargers are a better team than how they're playing. But you can't doubt the powerhouse that is New Englad. They're playing like Superbowl Champs again. You can't help but love them for it.

Lots of teams did better than I thought this weekend. Houston looks downright tough, and may end up winning me over if this keeps up.
