Love that suit. It's supposed to look like something slap-welded together in secret, and it really works that way.

Awesome! Is it me, or does that suit actually kinda look like John Favreau??

I saw it yesterday on another site. I'm digging it.

First official "still" was published in USA Today. Shows Downey as Stark, apparently working on the gray armor. Makes me wonder if they are going with the "pacemaker to stay alive" route on the origin.

I never doubted that they were going to use that part of the origin -- it's a key aspect to the character's development.

I can't help but wanting to make a phone call when i see his chest though...

Some interesting tidbits from Favreau\'s MySpace :

Quote
"Let me confirm a few things," Favreau wrote. "The movie will contain both the gray suit and the gold and red. The light you see in the photo on Robert's chest in the USA Today article is the chest piece glowing through his shirt. He is in captivity and forging the mask of the Mark 1. Both suits have been built practically by Winston Studios and are busily at work as we speak. We are exploring ideas for teaser trailers, though no date has been decided. We are planning to attend San Diego Comicon. Bridges is bald and plays Stane. The movie is on schedule and could not be going better."
So Bridges is playing Obadiah Stane? The Dude abides.

Everything I hear about this film makes me extremely excited for it. This could end up being one of my favorites I think given what we've seen/heard.

Loving the grey suit and that they'll get to the gold & red one. Loving that Bridges is playing Obadiah Stane, loving how Downey Jr. is looking with the goatee.

Some great hi-res images, thanks to AICN. A good pic of Downey, Jr. as Stark and one of the Mark III armor (the classic gold and red).

Entertainment Weekly article/interview with pic of Tony about to test the repulsor ray. This is probably the one movie that I would have liked to have been at SDCC this year for.

Samuel L. Jackson and Hillary Swank to make cameo appearances in Iron Man. Who wants to bet on Sam's role? smile

Not sure who Swank could be though.

Would have liked to see a cleaner shot of Bridges' Stane but looks good. Love the music. Filter's Nice Shot and the classic Sabbath Iron Man. Hope they both are actually used in the film.

And have I missed a ratings change? They going for an R? Three naked women frolicking? Lives up to Stark's rep but in a comic book film?

Link is already dead. There is another one available at Ctrl+Alt+Del . Can't say how long that one will be around either. I did rescue it, though, from my cache for those interested. I can hide it at the Clubhouse and use my FLV player there.

I'm not the biggest Iron Man fan, but I have to say that totally ROCKED! I'm super digging Downey as Tony Stark and my four year old loved the scene with the jets.

Thanks Scott

so, after thinking about this overnight, i don't think Sam's going to be Happy Hogan- I think he's going to be Nick Fury, ala the Ultimate universe.

Yep, that one was a given. Marvel even paid Jackson to use his image in the Ultimates when they started. It wasn't just happenstance. They've been planning this all along.

Official Quicktime trailer has been released. I thought hearing Sabbath's Iron Man was great before. Hearing it thumping with real bass just about blew me away. I really hope this movie lives up to all this build up.

I saw it today and I was pretty impressed... I wondered at their unveiling of the proto-Iron Man suit earlier in the trailer than the final suit, and I wonder how much we'll see of the Red & Gold in this film? Personally I have no problem with the retro-charm of the bulky original suit, and I as an Aussie I applaud what is basically a Ned Kelly gambit updated for the modern day. laugh
I showed it to my boss, and he chuckled at the inclusion of an 'Iraqistan' type setting for the creation of the Iron Man suit, as he wasn't aware of the Vietnam War origin. He saw it as something that had been shamelessly shoehorned into a superhero film, whereas I'm more used to seeing the Iraq Wars being substituted for Vietnam through my reading of the Ultimate Marvel titles. I wonder what non-comics punters will make of that.
Anyhoo! I'm very keen for this one!

I was impressed by the trailer as well. I forgot Paltrow was Pepper. Love that they have more than suit it seems. I saw atleast 3. Love the final suit though.

I'm a Downey Jr fan and thought he was a perfect match for Stark so I am pumped.
